See the picture of her attached. This comes from a family tree on Ancestry. She married Walter Bowdoin Clewis and they had at least one son (also Walter) in 1950 but he is deceased. She and Walter divorced in 1968, so it is possible she simply went off to start a new life with her marriage over and son an adult. The family tree does confirm Maude Blackburn as her sister and her maiden name of Gore. Her dob is 11 June 1924 in Mississippi.

So, I did some digging on ancestry. I found "vernon" gore, age 5, female, living in Mississippi in the 1930 census with siblings Maude, Willie, and Mildred and parents Jodi and Aldine. I'm pretty confident that's Verna. Jodi Price Gore died in New Hanover, NC in 1939. Aldine V Gore appears in the 1940 census at a home for girls in New Hanover, NC-- I think this is also Verna. Then, Aldine Gore (the father) died in 1944, also in New Hanover. That said, it seems like things were pretty hard for Verna after going to NC. Maybe at some point after her divorce in 1968, she returned to Mississippi to revisit a happier time in her life? And, if she returned to Mississippi, maybe this UID is a fit? UID is a little on the short side, and I feel like getting Verna from North Carolina to Mississippi is suuuuuuper tenuous conjecture. But, it doesn't seem totally crazy, either. I don't know, wish we had more information on Verna.

No, I think it’s worth pursuing.
