I hope Vicky is somewhere happy and safe. She has lots of folks looking for her in their own way (e.g., calling businesses/orgs, hanging flyers, etc.) but there are no upcoming coordinated SAR events that I can tell. Some are hopeful that she is still in the area and that she'll resume her habit of walking around now that it's getting warmer out. Greenville, NC PD has posted a few times about Vicky's most recent disappearance. All have comments, some are rather interesting. GPD added additional photos.

A moderator at Searching for Vicky Brantley has said that although the Silver Alert has been canceled, "Vicky has not been located". She hasn't been added to NamUs as of yet, either. Why would they cancel the alert?

Vicky is still missing. It'd be nice to know if there are any searches planned for the wooded area where she was last seen.

Ugh! :( This breaks my heart. Vicky's remains were found right where she was last seen. Apparently the area was searched multiple times. This is a great reminder that even with multiple SAR efforts, searchers still might overlook the MP or miss her/him/them completely.

Rest in peace, Vicky.

Human remains that were discovered earlier this month in Greenville have been identified as a missing woman.

Greenville police say the remains found near Mulberry and Stonehenge Drive are that of 65-year-old Vicky Brantley. Brantley was reported missing in December.

I tend to think she was there the whole time but folks will certainly jump on the "she couldn't have been there the whole time during searches, etc." bandwagon.

I agree, @YaYa_521, this is a great reminder to so many new sleuthers who never believe us veterans when we posit the idea that a missing person IS there in the area last seen, but hasn't been found yet. We have seen this many times. It happens. SAR does their best and this still happens.

Sad for those who loved V, but good they know now.

@bombardier just made a well-researched post about this in Jason Landry's thread. It happens more often than we think.
