I came across this posting while researching another topic. I didn't find a listing for this UID on NamUs.

Description per newspaper article:

• White female, dark complexion
• Estimated 50 years of age
• Short, stout build
• Hazel eyes
• Brown hair streaked with grey
• Likely en route to Fayetteville or Fairmont, NC
• Carried a cheap suitcase, a purse, and 26 cents in cash
• Had two addresses on her person: "Lewis Hazlewood, 510 Rutherford Street, Greenville, S.C." and "Frederick Stuart, 215 Park Ave., Baltimore"
• Was hitchhiking at "Five Points," 14 miles south of Raleigh on the Fayetteville Highway when she was hit by a motor express truck (driver identified) on September 16, 1936
• Was previously given a ride from Raleigh to "Five Points" by an identified driver from Raleigh who reported learning nothing of the woman's identity

Pretty interesting stuff. It also seems the original Reddit poster is the person who secured the microfiche copy of the article after seeing this woman's grave. Sharing here as an FYI.

That thread is interesting. It looks like a good lead that the only thing in common for both men may have been prior connections/family roots in Louisville, Ky. Wonder if she was from that area.

It sounds like Lewis Haselwood was a business owner. I wonder if this woman was traveling to find work.
