Note found IN the Tahoe? Not on it, in it.
Fire set to the property?
A million dollar ransom?
Two vehicles belonging to the home hit for decomp/remains?
So if we assume it was a kidnapping for ransom, then whoever did it sure felt awfully free to do as they pleased in the Bakers yard and IN their Tahoe.

I'm not making light of this situation and I pray that this child is found safe. But it's my opinion that whoever orchestrated this entire scenario has been watching entirely too much television. I've never seen a case totally unravel this fast.

I'm quoting myself now lol..
But knowing all of this don't ya think the parents would've checked on zahra after the note was found just to make sure she was safe.. I know I would with my kiddos if I knew there was a possible kidnapping wannabe in the area.

Or, if the note was found on a car in your yard, you would think you would check on your children. KWIM

Great minds!

Well if he didn't have a son, this wasn't about the boss. How dumb to mention a son when the boss doesn't have one. Either the kidnappers are stupid, or that was a Freudian slip on the parent's part when they wrote it. And also, were there two fires? I am confused on this. Did the brush fire turn into a car fire, or was there a brush fire and a car fire?

This is getting scarier by the moment, that poor little girl...

I totally agree with this post. Esp the BBM part.
This does not add up.

Unless the step-mom told the dad she checked on Zahra and lied to him and he took her word for it. :waitasec:

I'm not sure dad is not involved, just hoping he isn't and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt until we know more.

I think that they thought that when the fire dept found the note they would ask them about Zahra also..not just the bosses daughter. They didn't take the bait..so they wait until the afternoon and call into LE that their daughter is missing.

Now I totally think that the stepmom screaming was staged for the investigators. She had prepared a good gothic scene and didn't get to perform it at night and didn't want it to go to waste so she waited for them to come back.

The search warrant also states that a search dog alerted on human remains found in the couple's vehicles. Police tell Channel 9 the father is cooperating but wouldn't go that far when talking about Zahra's stepmother.

How many vehicle's did this pair have? Human remains in their "vehicle's"?

IDK but I rather think I'd sleep in my kids room with one eye open and both hands on a baseball bat if we had kidnappers set fire to a car and a ransom note in our back yard.

I wonder if Dad drives the Tahoe?

Did anyone see the pictures of the Tahoe on the property posted on media sites? It was parked WAY back away from the house on the rear of the property, and the back of the property backs up to the parking lot of a business I believe is now closed. The 127 Club, or something to that effect. I'll see if I can find it.

Clarification on the note:

HICKORY, N.C. -- A search warrant released Monday details what may now be a stranger abduction in the case of missing 10-year-old Hickory girl, Zahra Baker.

According to the search warrant, investigators showed up at the residence responding to a brush fire outside the home on Saturday morning when they found a ransom note inside inside a Chevy Tahoe that was parked outside.

The note claimed a girl had been kidnapped and demanded $1 million dollars in unmarked bills. The words "no cops" were scribbled nearby.

Hickory police chief Tom Adkins said Chief said "We are questioning the validity of that note. We have no further demands from the note."

The note was addressed to Zahra's dad's boss and when his daughter was found safe police left.

Seven hours later a second call this time Zahra was reported missing. According to the search warrant her dad believes the kidnappers took her.

SO... I am speculating this "ransom note" was written by both Elisa & Adam in an attempt to cover up their own doing in the disappearance of Zahra. When the police didn't "search" for Zahra right away and "discover her missing" they had to then CALL the police and report her missing. After all- they had already went through the trouble with setting the scene with the fire & the note. Can't stop now. Seems like the note/fire would be a good cover if anyone actually believed it. Even IF the human remains found turn out to be Zahra's- the note left at the scene could have hypothetically (I say that VERY loosely) covered their guilt IF believed. Quite an elaborate plan if true.

"Wealthy" landlord with a ransom note left for him for his daughter- but ooops the kidnappers took the wrong girl. Would make a great headliner story.

There are WAY too many holes in this script to make it work for me now. IMO

Dumb question, and I fear it no longer matters for the poor little girl, but do we know what criteria was used for an Amber Alert? Don't they have to have some sort of vehicle or witness or a description?

Yes, they do, have to have a car description, but this state may have their own state Amber laws.

Has it been said whether the note was handwritten or typed?

Has the stepmom lawyered up yet, or is she talking?

Zahra, I'm praying hard for you to come home safe.

Yes, they do, have to have a car description, but this state may have their own state Amber laws.

The criteria in North Carolina for an Amber Alert is: (Note: ALL of the criteria must be met)

1) The child has to be 17 years of age or younger.
2) Believed to have been abducted.
3) Not taken by a parent (unless the child is in danger).
4) Not believed to be a runaway or voluntarily missing and the abduction has been reported to and investigated by a law enforcement agency.

I'm thinking that cops issued an Amber Alert based on the fact that she is special needs, and also on first glance they may have thought she had been abducted based on the initial report (missing from her bedroom while she slept, parents haven't seen her in 12 hours, etc).

So was their one fire or two? I'm still confused about this. And man, talk about bad writing. A monkey could come up with a better plot. Just how did mom and pop think they had a chance in hell of getting away with this?

I hate to say this because I know it's going to come off rude, but these parents seem like idiots and it seems like they think the cops are pretty stupid in order to REALLY think the cops wouldn't notice a million holes and red flags with this entire story.

Anyway, from what I understand, there was only one fire (a brush fire) in the backyard.
