Oh my, what happened ... for a while there I thought I was banned or blocked for some reason.

Just quickly - as I'm in the middle of tea - Butwhatif, I understand where you're coming from, but honestly, this guy has taken his daughter to another country which admittedly had had good intentions, but there are allegations of abuse - he surely would have noticed? In fact, there are photo's that support the abuse of this child. A child of her age does not have two black eyes and other bruises from normal childhood injuries ... surely she's past the toddler stage of clumsily stomping around each day?

Back to enjoy our family dinner feeling a little guilty because there's another child out there not enjoying the basic things in life.

So they seized assorted drug paraphanelia.

I wonder what it was?

Mel

Depends if it is dealer or user specific but I found this:

"Under federal law the term "drug paraphernalia" means "any equipment, product or material of any kind which is primarily intended or designed for use in manufacturing, compounding, converting, concealing, producing, processing, preparing, injecting, ingesting, inhaling or otherwise introducing into the human body a controlled substance."

...as in 50kms from Giru?

Yes, I'm sure she mentioned coming from around there, but now I'm searching I can't find one of her posts to check.

not too mention his questions back at the reporter.. "Do you mean physically seeing her? or when she was in bed??." I think that was his major screw up there... JMO..

I agree. How does a "devoted" father not remember the last time he saw his only child? Especially one who survived cancer, not once, but TWICE in her short decade of life and who was suffering from a stomach bug & probably needed to be checked on regularly? My kids are 8 & 16 and I STILL check on my 16yo when he is sick with a bug. I don't buy it :snooty:

And the whole "it was Tuesday, no wait it was Thursday" thing (paraphrased)? That has me going :waitasec:

My mind is about ready to crash from lack of sleep, so bear with me if the following seems disjointed or kooky!

IMO, he is probably innocent of physically harming Zahra but his mind is reeling over all that has happened and he is trying to mentally come to terms with his passive role in Zahra's life since moving to the US. If he is reading anything on the net, he is probably shocked by the accusations and, unless he has had a lobotomy, starting to feel responsible for her demise (even though he did not actually do anything).

I grew up with a step parent who made it VERY clear I was in the way and did everything in his power to drive my mother & I apart (and succeeded). My mom believed him because he brainwashed her into thinking I was the one to blame (yeah, all 10yo girls want to sabotage their mom's happiness :innocent: ). She was so caught up her own quest for fulfillment that she totally lost sight of the one person who loved her unconditionally and without judgment. Honestly, I believe AB is finally seeing EB for what she truly is and his entire world has been shattered. Doesn't excuse his poor choices or willingness to stand by & watch his daughter be abused/mistreated, but it may explain his past actions (or lack thereof).

Sounds crazy, but I think EB had him completely brainwashed and controlled every move he made.

Didn't AB's boss or coworker say that they could tell EB was controlling? Off to find that link!

Another thing I posted in the last thread, but I can't stop thinking about. I think EB was poisoning Zahra or maybe even drugging her (hence the reason she was not seen outside for who knows how long and was bedridden with a bug). With all EB's talk of being ill, having cancer, kids with leukemia (that were perfectly healthy), etc... she obviously was obsessed with receiving attention and feigning sickness seemed to be the best way for her to get it. Poisoning someone to get attention or simply to eliminate the competition is NOT that uncommon.

All my opinion, of course.

Causby met Elisa Baker a couple of times when she’d come to pick her husband up after work. He said those brief encounters left him feeling unsettled.
“He (Baker) may not have had good judgment,” Causby said, referring to the woman Baker met on the Internet and moved to America to wed. “I think the elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top. She seemed very controlling.”

We've all heard the family, friends, & neighbors say how mean & short-tempered EB was, but this guys words make me wonder just how bad WAS she?

Wasn't me - something broke at the data center, and they promise me it's fixed now...

Wow is Adnoid the Beetlejuice of websleuths!

Thanks Adnoid - we thought you'd fallen asleep on the keyboard. :laughbounce:

Great post, savmom!

I would think they have taken Zahra's mattress for testing ... to determine whether she came to harm there. I can't type anything further (too distressing). Just put two and two together to work out where I'm heading with my thoughts on removing her mattress.

They might have even taken the mattress to determine if she was ever there at all, since no neighbor ever saw her there.

I can understand why you are sitting on the fence, no problem with that.

I have noticed some very dubious body language in comparison to his statements. Marry that with the allegations of abuse of Zahra, even if exaggerated, the fake ransom note, the very fact that the police have warrants out for him and have decided to set those aside for the time being, Zahra not being seen for approx 2 weeks (as yet not confirmed but at least 4 weeks according to police) cadaver dogs hits, the fact this is a homicide case not a missing person, father can't remember last time he saw Zahra, yes it was Tuesday - no Thursday, laughs, oh, no sleep soz my bad - it does not bode well for the father not knowing. And the big cherry on top, LE saying they don't believe him, don't believe he is sincere in trying to help.

How many times do we say it is the totality of evidence not just one piece.

At the very least wouldn't he be guilty of the most heinous child neglect?

I agree. He knew what his wife was doing. Of course he's exhausted. He knows the jig is up! He has to carry on this charade of wanting to assist LE, while hiding what he really knows and with the knowledge that LE will never give up the quest for justice.
I watched him cry at a press conference. His tears only really started after the reporter asked about his wife being taken away. I think that's what really upsets him, not the horror his precious child endured. At the least, he must have known of the abuse and after uprooting his sick child from family and friends chose to leave her in her new, hellish environment with his new, hellish wife rather than taking her and fleeing as fast as he could. He is culpable. He fed his child to the wolves.

Thanks - I hadn't seen that quote. With all the facebook postings from friends and family and with what people have declared publicly on TV, there was not a lot of love lost for EB. No one seemed to like or respect her and were either afraid or wary of her. Very telling.

I'm starting to think Zahra is just too distant to be a hot topic of news here - nothing about her on any of the four news programs I watched, and even a quick scan of the main newspapers shows nothing. I think if you mentioned "missing kid, probably dead, from Queensland" most people would think of [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Morcombe"]Daniel Morcombe[/ame] (which is fair enough!).

Guess we have to wait until something happens in Hickory.

I find it strange that there is little coverage in Australia...
Kinda makes me wonder about the passports and the paperwork that was with them.. especially after seeing the above pic... Were they here as visitors..??? There is a picture of her with the white sheet behind her as well as her dad.... I find this very suspicious... !!

She looks exhausted and drained. Her haircut looks to me like SM's handiwork at trying to replicate a 'mini me' ... little girls do not choose a 'do' like that.

Off topic, the Daniel Morcombe inquest is an eye opener - clear evidence of Police incompetence. I'm surprised Daniel's parents are so composed and calm :banghead:

Welcome to Australia! Politics and sport take precedence over everything.

She looks defeated her smile is gone, there is no sparkle in her eyes ...... this is so sad for such a lovely, strong child who has endured so much and now this. Her innocence is gone, her spirit has been dulled, her life turned to horror. I hate to say this but if she is dead, she would have been better off losing the battle with the cancer.

I will always hope that she is found alive until otherwise confirmed.
