I bet if you took a survey of all 911 operators (and I know a couple personally), you would not find one who has ever been asked, "Hey, how are you?," when they answer a call. Bizarro world.....

Laddsy, I agree with you and westside regarding being able to be relatively calm during an emergency 911 call due to what seems like similar histories. It's kind of like..you have to do what you have to do...especially when your childs life depends on it. Having said that though..in all the 911 calls I have ever had to make for a variety of reasons, I have to say that I NEVER asked the dispatcher/operator how they were doing. We are all different, but that strikes me as super duper weird...jmo though..

I was raised by my grandmother, a very good woman but one who fell apart in stressful situations- I once fell and thought my arm was broken, she called my Dr. who told her to meet him at the ER- she got so flustered she went to the wrong hospital.
But because of that I am very calm in a crisis-I just do what needs to be done-and fall apart after wards.. I just think you need to take care of the immediate things and think about them later...

But yeah I greeted the 911 dispatcher when I thought I was having a heart attack.

I am extremely calm in a crisis....it amazes my family. Its later when I fall apart. But I would never make an emergency 911 call by saying, "Hey, how are you?"
You can be calm and urgent....it is an emergency, after all.

I never said I would be calm. I think I would be frantic and there would be no introduction whatsoever. I think the 1st thing to come out of my mouth would be HELP!!!!

I remember once when my daughter was about 3 y/o and had a fever. I was holding her when all of a sudden she stiffened up and I realized that she was having a seizure. Totally freaked me out..I was very young and had always heard that people could swallow their tongue when seizing...so what do I do?...I stick my finger in her mouth without even thinking and ran for the bathtub while yelling for my sis in law to call 911. Well, I'm in the bathroom running cool water over her holding her with one arm...completely unable to remove my finger on the other hand from her mouth at this point and can overhear my sis in law falling apart on the phone...had to run in the bedroom, grab the phone from her, run back to the bathroom while I'm talking to 911..panicked, but able to get the words out anyway...all the while, my finger still in a vice grip it felt like. It was a year before I had any feeling in that finger due to nerve damage. Terrifying at the time, but I can look back now and chuckle, lol..

I take daytime naps & I'm still tired at 11pm! Besides, Golden Girls comes on at 11 - a must see.

What gets me, is that he said he was so panicked about the fire and ransom note, but never checked on Zahra... and yet is sooo calm while reporting her missing...

That's one of the things that bother me most. How in the H E L L do you find a ransom note @ your home (I know his boss owned the house, but still) suggesting that your bosses daughter has been kidnapped, only to find out that all is well with the bosses daughter and NEVER go check on your own daughter to make sure there had not been a mix up! :furious:..I would really like to know as well if either of them even mentioned to LE during this time that they even had a daughter *asleep* in the house. I'd bet not, because I can't imagine LE not asking them to check on her. My heart just breaks for Zahra.

I cant really agree with that. What if they are innocent??? Unfortunately there are a higher percentage of innocent people accused than ones that end up being guilty.

SM had 3 or 4 husbands (JN, JA, AY and AB )
but her children (BS, AF and DP) were fathered by her boyfriends DP and CH

She has had more than 2 dozen criminal offenses.

She has 19 Aliases

She reported recurrent brain cancer and lupus in her health history.

OH RIGHT! She was also a Bounty Hunter who wrote music for famous musicians in her spare time!! (Thanks Shefner!)

And now we have an abused, missing and probably murdered, disabled step child, fires in the yard, randsom notes and gasoline soaked cars!

Have I missed anything??? :banghead:

...she was also a police officer that was shot in the line of duty.

...she had that "rare" incurable disease that was made worse when going out in the sunlight.

...and, she was dragging her own child around in a wheelchair------because the child was dying of cancer-----( made a full recovery ! )

Do you remember your 1st words to the 911 operator?

Wow, so many years ago (31)..at least for that particular incident. I remember my sis in law was struggling with the address and directions..that was long before 911 'knew' where you were if you were calling from a landline. I just remember launching in telling them that my daughter was having a seizure and telling them how to get to where I was.

Now about 5 years before that, as I have shared here before..my oldest son died of SIDS @ 11 mths old. We didn't even have a phone at the time and I had to run next door while my ex was giving CPR. Even then, under those traumatic circumstances I was able to hold it together long enough to give them the info they needed to locate us..just a huge rush of information to get someone there ASAP...then as someone else said..you fall apart later.

It's not just the pleasantries that AB tried to exchange with 911 that give me such a hinky feeling, he just seemed in no way panicked to me and that is extremely disturbing. After finding a ransom note for someone else only hours earlier (if he believed that to be for real, which I don't believe that he did..jmo) I would think that would be the first words out of his mouth. I'm even puzzled as to why he felt it necessary to check the neighborhood before calling....

Oh man that's heartbreaking. I am so sorry for your loss even though it was such a long time ago I am sure the pain is still with you to this day. I couldn't imagine what you must have gone through

We can't forget that she was also shot in the line of duty. That brave, brave woman. How could anyone claim Zahra was the brave one when the amazing EB was shot in the line of duty while protecting you from the bad guys!

Which is a huge surprise to me because she is so fit and healthy. How could the bad guys catch her to shoot her? Was it the cancer? She must be really special to be allowed to stay on the streets fighting crimes with numerous cancers.

I'm the same way---very calm and only when it's over and contained am I a mess. I agree completely "Hey, how are you?" ?!?!?!?!
