I don't believe this to be true. Different counties will cooperate and assist the LE from where the crime was committed, but they aren't put in charge of the investigation in their county. It would still be Deal. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it works .

I don't desire to argue my point. I am not a personal part of the investigation or privy to all the ins and outs. I had lunch with my own county's (Gaston) Sheriff (Cloninger) on Sunday and we briefly discussed his feelings concerning Zahra....but I didn't ask him about who was "in charge." We spent much more time discussing election procedures and which dessert was best.

Having said all that, John McDevitt is the Sheriff of Burke County. He was on the scene when the wood chipper and surrounding areas along Hartland Road were searched. He stated that Adam Baker was present during the search. He also stated that he did not believe Adam Baker's statements regarding the case....and questioned whether Baker's concern for Zahra was sincere.

I've never met Adam Baker and I question all that myself. Others, however, feel he is sincere...and feel he is innocent. I do not. Just saying....

I can read lips (usually) and it appeared that she said "I am soooo pissed". At least on the clip I saw.

My husband is a typical man (lol) and even he said 10????? 10 yr old and puberty???

I said it can happen and he replied buts its not the norm - is it??

I don't know, but I have heard talk about how hormones in the beef has made recent generations of young ladies develop faster. No idea if that's true. I might have to check into that.

I DO know that my 10 yr old is moody, whiney, knows everything, and suddenly I know NOTHING. We have always been close but now, I cannot seem to do/say the right thing in here eyes. sigh. I hope its not puberty setting in, I am not at all ready. And I don't even want to think about her poor daddy if that's the case. He'll be devasted.

Why didn't they just "move" again after getting rid of the body instead of staging a mistaken identity abduction.

The school wouldn't have been looking for her anytime soon if at all. There is no family that seems like they would have raised major flags or reported them missing, at least not right away. They lived a flakey and nomadic life, it wouldn't have been out of character for them.

I know it is not guaranteed to work for them but it seems like a better plan than the one they went with.

I think EB (possibly AB too) was trying to get a payday out of the situation she created by doing whatever she (and possibly AB too) did to Zahra! AB can't be making too much money being a tree trimmer, landscaper whatever. I doubt and records show they probably didn't have any extra cash to make any more moves. I doubt they had the kind of nestegg that is usually required for first, last and security deposits.:waitasec:
If there is truth to the man in England then it has to be over the computer IMO! Perhaps she has another sucker on the line-maybe caught him thru the same websites she was trolling when she caught AB. Maybe EB was getting ready to pluck her next victim from another continent! I would love to see the results of her computer forensics!!:snooty:

I had to *smirk* (at EB's facial expressions) as she watched her own daughter testify against her today.

How sad to see a young adult so afraid of her own mother. Makes my stomach sick to think of what Zahra lived with. ughhhhhhh :(

I think that within the next few days....we will all hear about a mattress that was found....sadly....with a body in it.....and sewn shut.

I have a VERY strong feeling about the mattress.. and have for a week now... I have no knowledge. just a good guess.. "Due to several interviews.., they a checking the landfill..." I don't think "several people interviewed" would have any knowledge of where her prosthetic leg would be... But may have seen a mattress being moved of something of the sort...JMO

I'm right there with ya! AF is what 23 and she is scared of her mother-imagine how little 10 year old Zahra felt!:furious:

computer forensics are going to play a HUGE part IMO in any trial that may come to EB for homicide. Defense will try to keep it out as imflamatory. Prosecution will argue its relevant to EB's attitudes, particularly with Zahra.

I too cannot wait.

Just hope it doesn't become all about vilifying goth, or wiccan religions, or Rob Zombie or whatever in the press. Hope the emphasis stays on Zahra.

With Zahra being such a sympathetic victim, I can see an eventual trial getting nuts, like with Casey A.

My heart went out to AF and BS today and looking at them in court it is hard to imagine what their mother did to them over the course of their lives. They looked broken to me.

I still do think they are lovely ladies and were trying to make a decent life for themselves despite the best efforts of their mother.

I hate to say this or even think this - because it is truly for selfish reasons - but I wish there was a "leak." :innocent:

:banghead:

Both statements could be true. She had always been a happy child until recently when she got 'broody from the onset of puberty' -which imo, was probably a recent excuse given by EB about why Zahra was always in her room.

ITA with Patty G's post about this. (Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - NC NC - Zahra Claire Baker, 10, Hickory, 9 Oct 2010 # 18)

I have an 11 yr old neice who lives with her single parent dad, and I'm the one that talks to her about 'womens business' because he's just too uncomfortable discussing the whole thing with her, and knows that it's better and less embarrassing for her to be talking to a female relative, who knows the real in's and out's of it.

And so many men say that once their daughters hit puberty they aren't 'daddy's little girl 'anymore, and distance themselves from their dads....so it's not hard for me to believe that AB would trust EB if she said that it was 'just puberty', even if the real reason for her brooding and being in her room was to get away from EB.

Not atypical at all imo, for a dad to leave the hormone issues up to mum, and to be completely clueless about hormones and everything that comes along with them.

JMO

Exactly. Which is why I found it very strange that he volunteered that kind of description about his daughter to a 911 operator (stranger). Additionally, putting any kind of "blame" on the victim *during a 911 call* whether it's direct or indirect.. is most often a sign of the abuser. I mean.. why wouldn't he tell the operator about her happiness? He told it to the tv people.

I have a teenage daughter so ITA about how it can mean both from day to day!

or maybe both theories are true. The people interviewed about them being in the old mobile home park (info we werre given through the press and presumably allowed out by LE) and they further told LE that what the Bakers where doing was fly dumping a matress only that part was not made public, witnesses were told not to discuss it while LE worked on preparing for that sort of search and got the ball rolling.

The dumpster had subsequently been emptied and so the landfill was the place to go.

Then the Bakers got a "new" matress and someone has to have info on that.

I agree Darnudes!! Those girls will be blessed for coming forward and doing the right thing for little Zahra!! And I must say Thank God (after Caylee and Haleigh's family let them down) that these girls showed the world their courage even if it was too late to save Zahra-it may save a little one in future! You never know!

That is something I would never have though of, but I certainly wouldn't put it past her or them. The scenarios in this case are endless I think. I just hope they find something at the landfill that points them in the right direction. Otherwise, this search could go on for a very long time.

It's becoming more common. My daughter 'started' 4 months after turning 9.
Neither of us were ready for it.

Wait, Bakers home was searched when, last thursday? Someone correct me if I am wrong. If the MH park search and interviews were going on wednesday, and LE heard something about a mattress being dumped, that could easily explain why the matress and bedding were of interest.

Upon finding brand new bedding in Zahra's room, it became obvious that the old mattress would need to be located and ruled out or . .

Wow, that is a lot of supposition, but I can see it happening in that way.

Only time will tell.

WOW! I am truly blessed! I have the most even tempered, easy going, teenage daughter. She certainly didn't get it from me.

(of course, she does love her car and phone, lol)

As for AF, I am pleased she did the right thing today but I still have the "too little, too late" feeling about anyone who knew of the abuse Zahra was most likely enduring.

These are my thoughts exactly.... I think forensics came back and showed that there was no sign of that mattress being used by Zahra... so where is the old mattress..??? or maybe there wasn't one..?? :waitasec:
