I apparently have missed alot, I came home and we have a second thread for Zahra....

I'm going back to try and find out what has happened ? Did they find her body ?

BBM - I'm sorry but dad gets no benefit of the doubt from me. That is HIS little girl, HE is responsible for what's going on in his own family. There are many times that my husband leaves before my kids wake up and doesn't get home before they are in bed. He goes up the stairs and kisses them goodbye in the morning and goes back upstairs and kisses them goodnight when he gets home. They're asleep, but he does it anyway. It's just what you do.

BBM unless you are not a physically demonstrative father, and then you are sort of more a background, less connected role. This, while very sad, is not criminal.

I am not dismissing the idea of his involvment, merely explaining that I am not there yet.

No body.Step mom in jail unrelated to case. Searching for anyone who has seen Z at all before the weekend.

Am not giving Dad a pass on this - more news just in - can't believe that Dad didn't know something was wrong. Also, am growing more skeptical that Zahra ever lived in this current house with them.

Brittany Bentley, 21, filed allegations of communicating threats against Elisa Baker in May after she says Baker threatened to kill her and her 7-month-old baby during a family dispute. Court records show those charges were dismissed with leave, meaning prosecutors reserved the right to refile them, in August after Baker failed to appear in court.

Bentley said Zahra would sometimes stay with her family, and seemed sad when she had to go home.

"She told my mom 'This is the best place in my life,'" Bentley said, adding that she sometimes saw facial bruises on Zahra. When they asked her what had happened, Zahra seemed frightened.

I have a daughter who is ten, I can totally see me captioning a photo like that of her the exact same way. Oh my goodness, heaven help me get thru the tweens.

Several neighbors on Monday told McClatchy Newspapers that they had never seen Zahra at her parent's rented house since they moved in about six weeks ago, and were surprised to learn a girl reportedly lived there.
"I never saw a sign of their daughter," said next-door neighbor Charles Bost. He chatted regularly with Adam Baker over the fence separating their backyards, but said Baker never mentioned having a daughter.

I completely understand what you're saying. I just can't believe that father did not think to look in on his baby for 2 days.

Hickory police were still trying to piece together a timeline of Zahra Baker's disappearance. But they "were questioning the validity" of the ransom note and said no one beyond Baker's immediate family had seen Zahra in weeks.

While police haven't ruled out the possibility of a random kidnapping, they arrested the girl's stepmother, Elisa Baker, on unrelated charges and named her "a person of interest" in the case.

BBM Okay, that answers that -no one outside of the immediate family has seen Zahra in weeks!

In the photos on ms, did they have 2 babies also?
and are the older kids hers?
That would make a household of children,
someone knows something and knows what happened.
The kids are much older, married????
I do not want to sleuth them, but if they LIVED there also,
they would KNOW when and what happened to Zahra.
Who, why and what set the 5 am fire?
If Zahra was mssing for 2 months why claim she disappeared now?
No one noticed for 2 months, why not go on for months again???
So strange...............

I must have missed the meth lab discussion. I agree, we would have heard by now if there were a meth lab in the house.

But drug para was retrieved from the house so IMO there is definatly a drug angle to this case.

If I had to guess by looking at the SM, I'd say meth. But not all who use meth make it themselves.

The step Mom looks so skinny in mug shot. Sure has lost some pounds.Dad looks the same a bit heavy.

TL if that's the Brittnay that is Elisa's Daughter...then yes, I would say they appear close. But that's just MO from looking at myspace pages until my eyes are bleeding! lol
