IIRC Zahra's mattress that was removed from the house was brand new. Either LE wanted to find it to determine if it was trashed because there was key evidence on it and/or to confirm the story of the Baker's that it was simply updated.

LE searched where it was said to be dumped and did not find it so, that either denies the Baker's innocent mattress upgrade story or implies it does contain key evidence -- or both.

could it be possible this mattress was dumped at the previous place they lived, before the moved to the current location...if so perhaps they need to check the dump site of where that garbage would be at in the landfill

Something keeps nagging at me that Zahra never moved to their new house...perhaps their witness account of when they last saw her is off?

Can someone please remind me what the time period was that EB and AB were in Australia?

It seems that it was fairly recently dumped, maybe also connected to the sighting of Zahra at the furniture store? I think it was recent both because LE connect it to Zahra going missing and, because they did not dig down that far in the landfill.

The longer the mattress was dumped the more impossible to find in a mountain of trash and the less connected.

The reporter never said that he could see her in the car. Only that someone in LE confirmed that she was in there (which as tight lipped as they've been makes me wonder). Just not sure about this info. and everything on here seems to be focused on this.

Was it ever confirmed that EB had hired prominent attorney Lisa Dubs? Just wondering if she was present.

WSOC-TV Dave Faherty reported EB NOT in Jail cell right now. He called them and they confirmed this. Searchers are gone but a couple of SBI vehicles are still there.

If she was once, she found out they picked him up at the airport I bet she decided she wasn't going to sit back and take all this alone!

I'm wondering if she came up with a story about how AB told her 'everything' then told LE where he 'told' her Zahra is, which prompted the arrest and search. I hope not however. I imagine she will do whatever it takes to put all the blame on AB, but knows once they do find Zahra that they will be able to put this on her. If her 'leads' don't work she can just say 'well that's what he told me'. It's also a great way of visiting more cruelty upon him.

Anyway as I said, I really hope not.

Local news reporting they have reopened the Dudley Shoals road now and were looking down from bridge at something. Reporter confirmed there are still a few SBI vehicles there.

I wondered that but if true then it is going to be harder to solve and bring Zahra home.

I am thinking it was fairly recent and play into these attempts at the fake kidnapping and 911 calls.

I think they needed to report Zahra missing and were hatching a bad plan but it is a matter of days not weeks.

Hopefully.

This is what wsoctv channel 9 news just said on their 6pm broadcast. I will keep looking on their website to see if they put the video up of this broadcast.

... road is back open now. AB was arrested after voluntary going to the police station to give a interview.

Missing 10-year-old Zahra Baker's father arrested on unrelated charges
From: AP
October 26, 2010 8:50AM

Police had hoped to find a significant clue in the case during last week's painstaking look through mounds of trash in Lenoir, North Carolina. Now, with that search ended, authorities have decided to serve the warrants.

Baker was jailed yesterday and his bond was set at $7000 and he is expected to appear in court on November 18.

So she's not in her cell. Maybe that means she's talking to someone. We can only hope.
Searchers are gone...possibly a stall or temporary dead end at that site? Or did they find what they were looking for?

Down into a body of water?

Was it ever confirmed that EB had hired prominent attorney Lisa Dubs? Just wondering if she was present.

http://primewriter.com/news-1246-headlines/?p=10752

http://www.gastongazette.com/news/mead-51934-case-gaston.html

Mead and his lawyer, Lisa Dubs, were scheduled to appear in court Monday. An early-morning call changed that plan, according to Gaston County Assistant District Attorney Robert Forbes.

Mead and Dubbs had to cancel an appearance at court today for a death penalty case because of an early morning phone call about Zahra's case.

And:

Forbes told Judge Robert Bell that Dubs called to say she and Mead couldn’t be in court because she’s now been assigned to Elisa Baker, the 10-year-old girl’s stepmother who has been in jail since Oct. 10 in Hickory for obstruction of justice.

Looks like Dubbs is on board. JMHO.

They did confirm she is still not in her cell in the same report. Maybe they are going to another location, talking to someone.....?
