I think it said they took a hairbrush, which they could reasonably determine Z's hair from her parents, and then compare Mito comparison. Doesn't show them exactly who it belongs to but narrows it down quite tightly.

And they do know where her bio mom is as well.
And have requested her medical records from her birth country.

Thank you. I forgot about the hairbrush entirely.

If Zehra's maternal GMother or biomother is here now, they will have access to M - DNA, of course LE can (could have) also Fed - Ex a sample from Oz.

I thought it was the paternal Gmother who was most involved with her. Was maternal Gma in the picture as well? Or do we know any of that?

Ugh, I'm gonna go lay down for a second...where's that Tums, teh?

Don't know that I buy the whole "mattress was discovered today by employees while regrading a previously searched area" ...

Something is just... OFF. It's like wearing a wool sweater in July. Pretty bad when you can't trust the media AT ALL because LE is talking in cleverly worded riddles.. What a circus.

What about simple blood typing? Surely that could be done quickly!

They could but that doesn't narrow things down by much.
Her and her father could have the same blood type.
You and Zahra could have the same blood type.
Know what I mean.

It may confirm their suspicions, but they already have those suspicions.

Mito would show it was someone from Z's maternal DNA line which is pretty narrow in North Carolina and would confirm some suspicions, but they still need the full meal deal dna profile to say it is her.

OK I am finally caught up and boy am I glad the mattress was found.
:woohoo:

I've been sitting here really frustrated thinking about how AB and EB could know perfect strangers are digging through trash, mud and muck day and after day while they sit clean, dry and tight lipped. :hand: :furious:

And these two still won't stop playing games will they? After weeks of searching EB all of a sudden has something to say? Where was this helpful information weeks ago EB? Ugh... one or both of them knows where she is. Just give it up already! All this time, money and resources being wasted while they play games to try and save their own behinds. Just tell us where your daughter is. :banghead:

WBTV news report just confirmed they are digging at the site (christy road) with heavy equipment. :( It looks like the same place as the brush picture.

LE has done a good job at keeping the information they do have out of the MSM. We still don't know what was found which caused them to reclassify this to a homicide case so early on. I can wait for more information while they build their case and bring Zahra home.

HUDSON --
Misinformation is circulating that Zahra Baker’s remains were found stuffed in a mattress during today’s search on Christie Road in Hudson.

Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins said there is no truth to the rumor. He said investigators have not found Baker’s remains.

A matress was found today at the Caldwell County landfill where investigators have spent several days searching. The mattress contains "This mattress possessed DNA evidence that will be tested in the future to confirm if it is involved with this investigation," according to a Hickory police press release.

'Misinformation'?!?! Shocking, with such stellar editing in so many media reports nowadays!

Sorry, had a momentary attack of sarcasm--recovered now. ;P

Just confirmed on WBTV news report that they are digging at the site (christy road) with heavy equipment. :(

If she is buried no way she did this herself.

http://www.wcnc.com/news/Search-for-Zahra-Baker-intensifies-in-Caldwell-County-105806948.html

Hickory police confirmed that they have seized a mattress found at the Caldwell County landfill that fits the description of one they were looking for in connection with the Zahra Baker disappearance. Police say employees at the landfill discovered the mattress in the area that was searched by officials last week.

Oh good grief, not another case where evidence shows up in a previously searched area, after the perp(s) is (are) in jail!! I do not want to find out about the landfill employes ex spouses or prior (dropped) kidnapping charges!! :banghead: :banghead:
