That is entirely possible but it is also possible that after the big search of landfill alst week, LE upon leaving that search area, cautioned employees about what they were seeking, and perhaps described it to them, asking that anything resembling it be set aside and LE called to inspect.

BTW Do we have confirmation (media link or newssource name) that an employee of landfill found it?

Sorry, I have been at work

Here is the link re: landfill employees finding the mattress Tues. afternoon.

*Graphic and very hard for me to write*

My grandmother passed away last month and I was with her in her home. It took a couple of hours for the funeral home to take possession of her. I was in bed with her and I rested my head on her shoulder.
She passed away very quickly of cancer. We were visiting her 5 days prior and she was outside and seemed ok. (she lives 4 hours away)She refused chemo or radiation and her doctor did tell her it would hit hard and fast (which it did) She was an active 75 year old woman.
She started having a slight smell before she passed away. I dont know why, but it was just a different smell. Nothing major and you couldnt tell unless you were very close.
For the hours following her final breath, I did not notice any leakage of fluids. We did keep her head elevated and she simply looked as if she was sleeping. I could still move her arms and hands but she was cold.

I am posting this because I believe Zahra may have been in the bed long enough for decomp to be on the mattress. I saw someone post that decomp signs begin immediately. I did not see any on my grandma, but she was probably in a more controlled environment and had been sick and had not eaten or had fluids for a little while. That could be the reason we did not see any fluids etc.

Just some insight on my recent experience.

They dug it up out of the landfill, everything has an awful smell to it. I think it was much less exciting. I think they were in the grid area, working the fill over as they always do, came across another mattress and called it in.

That sounds more likely. Thanks.

Any MSM reports on where the family members are that he was picking up?

Nope, not that I have heard or found. STILL waiting for some.................

found the link about employee finding possible Z mattress in landfill

http://www.theolympian.com/2010/10/26/1416452/nc-police-stepmother-talking-in.html

A statement from Hickory police Tuesday afternoon said investigators seized a mattress found by workers at a Caldwell County landfill when the area was being regraded following a search last week. The statement said the mattress will be tested for DNA evidence.

Yes, I suspect they went straight out to CLT as he was pulling in to airport parking, if they weren't already tailing him.

Baker voluntarily came into the Hickory Police Department at about 3:15 a.m. Monday for an interview with officers, according to officials.

LE quoted as saying: he was at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to pick up a family member, according to the Hickory Police Department.

What link do you want? Flight records?

yes an allowable link that verifies what you were stating as fact

we cannot just state "trust me" here - we have to provide a source so that other members can confirm our information

(O/T, but I had a great-uncle named TL...)

I was thinking about this the day (last Wednesday?) LE ended the search, and was wondering if, once they reached a certain depth, they decided to pursue other leads in the knowledge that the regrading of the landfill was coming up? I think this could be plausible--anyone (local, perhaps?) know if there's a certain day of the week/month, etc. on which regrading is regularly done? Also, this could fit into a possible LE plan to make EBthink they were getting off-track with the investigation? Just wondering 'out loud'...

Just for the sake of keeping the timeline true, I know it's being picky, he was arrested at 3:12 am (per HPD site) so, he came in sometime before that.

Sorry, those details are just important for me!

Now I thought that dad said with a chuckle that Zahra was broody, which has a slightly different context, especially for our friends in Aussie land or across the big pond, IIRC....I always thought broody or broodieness applied to wanting to have a baby.

Which drains the blood from my face in terms of this case.

True that it does mean that as well but here I would say it is more commonly used in relation to a child/teenager as a broody/brooding teenager. But to be honest it is not a word I hear often (I usually hear it when referring to woman) other aussies may have a different experience.

The Reporter says the following things, in the video at this link, that seem important to me:

-The landfill LE had been searching, takes as many as 60 mattresses a day. So, LE knew there were many more still out there.

-He believes the mattress was located this morning in the landfill. It matched the "description" of Zahra's mattress.

-The tests have not come back yet, that would verify whether or not Zahra had ever slept on the new mattress.

The quote is all messed up so I deleted it, but......

The search ended at the landfill last week on Friday.

ladyL, several posters last night did post links to the airport site that lists incoming flights to that airport. I am sorry I do not have it handy. However, it was also discussed at that time that picking someone up, claiming baggage, etc can be time consuming. Also the MSM reports were all changing before our eyes and removing referrence posted previously to airport arrest.

Now AB's presence at the airport has been once again verified by MSM but also discusses him being there to pick up relative.

Hoppyfrog has made it clear that the debates over AB trying to leave/skip out are off limits
. So I for one am listening loud and clear!

Saying they "accidentally found a mattress" sounds oh....IDK, strange. They could have worded it better.

Saying landfill employes continued searching without LE sounds worse! IMO! I guess they were just trying to explain the LF employes came across the mattress while rearranging said items left for disposal, that LEOs had moved, but not yet had time to replace, in so many words.... :innocent:

Okay our sweet newbies :) I'm looking out for you and posting this as loving suggestions. Take it into to consideration or don't, might save you some grief though :)

JFYI:

1. I can't impress enough how far it goes when posting to throw a JMHO, IMHO even a MOO in that post. Keeps the alerts to the mods off your posts for the most part. Also, if you don't put that? Seasoned posters who are familiar with the way posting usually flows here at WS is going to automatically assume you are stating it as FACT.

2. If unsure about the veracity of the info you are relating: we use IIRC (If I recall correctly) that way we are offered a link of supporting evidence from another member instead of being drug down the garden path to correction of the facts :)

3. Always respond to others as you wish to be responded to yourself. Meaning if you're upset or irked or down right miffed at something someone said or you thought they said to you~ don't rattle off a response and hit the submit button. Period. Alert if it's a violation or skip that post or go pour yourself a glass of wine...etc.

4. Never ever NEVER argue with a decision the mods have made about a post or rules for a thread.

5. We do not have "freedom of speech" on WS. There are rules, posting etiquette and TOS that must be abided by (which have threads to ask questions if you are unsure). This is not a public forum in the sense that it's like topix, we apply for membership and this website is owned by Trisha.

HTH to improve your experience in settling into WS. Said with love and understanding from when I first joined :) :blowkiss:

Painful search ella. I might not have been using the correct parameters though and that made it painful :)

Ella I found quite a few articles of women who murdered their husbands and buried the bodies but I can't link because the info isn't in a snippet in the snip of the pay per view articles in the google archives.

I was including women who bury men too because the other's I found for free the victim was an infant or toddler. Zahra was neither. A grown man is larger than Zaha though.

HTH.

Here ya go ! Here is a teen that dug the grave days before and murdered a little girl!

EB could have dug the grave days before! the ground isnt frozen so it wouldnt be all that hard or her husband helped her!
