Just had a thought. When I rode by there today, I thought it odd that a City of Hickory truck was out there. Then it looked like they dug some in the front yard. Almost like digging up a water line or something. I wonder if they are checking the sewer and water lines for blood etc!

This is completely horrible, just thinking.. but I wonder if they had a septic tank? I would think somone would've noticed the ground disturbed, but not if there were cars parked on/over it.

Ok I asked him about the saws....he said you know saws. Like they cut stuff with. He's a network engineer. That would be a little out of his area of expertise I think.

They are under the house now. CNN is there. He said the saw was like maybe 2 1/2 feet long if that helps.

Are you freaking kidding? Under the house?

PunKnLuv ~ A motorized saw or a hand saw? Maybe we can narrow it down.

Seems they may have flushed something and LE is trying to get to it.

Police have found a prosthetic leg matching the description of the one belonging to 10-year-old Zahra Baker.
Investigators found the leg late Tuesday afternoon off Christie Road in Caldwell County, police announced on Wednesday. They are working to positively confirm that it is Zahra's prosthetic leg through a serial number.

I realized early on, as most of us did, that Zahra had been killed, but to read that her prosthetic leg may have been found, just makes it that much more real.

So very sorry Zahra that this life was hard for you. RIP.

oh so hand saws, something like this? Which is used to intricate cuts btw:

I don't know. I would think saw to him would mean a regular saw. I'll ask him.

The reason a P Leg isn't usually found along the side of the road, is they're expensive and there's always someone else that can use them.

Ok…here's my "arm chair" transcription…from DVR…start to finish...I didn't paraphrase and tried to be as accurate as possible...if anyone notices any mistakes, please let me know so I can correct...thanks

Police Chief:
Investigators have discovered a prosthetic leg, consistent with the description of Zahra Baker's left prosthesis. The prosthetic leg was discovered late yesterday afternoon, off Christy Road in Caldwell County. We are attempting to positively confirm the prosthetic leg is Zahra's by a serial number inside the outer cover. The prosthetic leg was originally fitted in Australia, it'll take sometime to confirm if it's hers. Inv have also uncovered information that led search teams back to the family home in Hickory, where technicians are recovering additional pieces of evidence. The mattress that was discovered at the Foothills Environmental Landfill in Caldwell County yesterday is being tested for DNA but the results of those are not complete. The mattress was discovered by landfill workers outside the original search grid. We based that grid on information that we've had about the mattress that was placed in the landfill. Workers at the landfill have worked diligently, looking for anything that may assist in this investigation. They should be commended for their efforts. The investigative team has received outstanding support from the Caldwell county sheriff's office providing resources for additional search teams, and also securing search areas. We will continue to follow every lead and every tip we receive in hopes that we can come to some kind of conclusion to this investigation and bring peace to Zahra. (Doesn't solicit questions, tries to walk off of platform, but someone starts asking questions...)

Police Chief: Yes, Dave (?) –

Q: The prosthetic leg that you found out there on Christy road; can you describe a little bit about what led you there and how the leg was found, buried…
A: Information provided to our investigative team led us to that area, the uhm…, prosthetic leg is consistent with what Zahra's would be like and that is was laying in a brushy area.

Q: (someone else-no name given): Was this…this was the area where a lot of trash had been dumped. Was it in with some other trash? Was it by itself? Or was it buried?
A: It was not buried.
Q: But it was in with some other trash?
A: It was not.
Q: Now did EB, because she did go into that area, and into that scene on Monday…did she point that out?
A: I cannot confirm that. Alright thank you.

Q: (no name given): Wha…what about at the house…what were you looking for at the house…they seem to be sifting through some…looking for very small pieces of…(Police Chief interrupts and begins answering)
A: Information led us to that house and we're looking for any piece of evidence that can help in this investigation.

The end…

Blood in the sewer lines would probably be long gone by now. Evidence might not be though (if they flushed it.)

Just following the line of thought between the SH and AV.

Probably not blood, but other tissues could have been caught in traps within plumbing system/sewer system?

Has happened before, and it doesn't have to be tissue as in dismemberment. Could be tissue from clean up.

JMHO.

Warning yucky thought ahead...

Building on the above thoughts about Zarah's body maybe being in pieces: If this is true I would guess that there had to be an awful lot of blood in one location. Maybe a significant amount of blood was found early on or the attempted clean up of a large amount of blood and this is why LE so quickly changed the case from a missing child to a homicide.

This is what I've thought ever since the day they declared it a homicide. It was just too soon to declare something so difinitive without having a body, IMO. There must have been evidence of a LARGE amound of blood loss in the house. Enough to determine that she could not possibly be alive after losing so much blood.

Now....with the saws...they are probably removing the walls/floors to take into evidence. Not sure why they didn't do that the day they discovered it though. And not sure why the house wasn't secured as a crime scene until they gathered that much evidence.

All MOO and stuff.

I haven't been on here much the past few days so forgive me...

I just got on to see the news about her prosthetic leg (maybe I'm psychic??). It says "found at the Hickory location" but does that mean at the home of EB & AB?? I'm confused. I read a few articles but didn't see that clarified anywhere.

will have much to discuss later after work.

I would bet you they have everything they need on the leg to identify it already. They are just holding back from the press as long as possible. Why would they wait this many days to get the info they knew they would need if they found it. Does not make sense not to have it.

Wow! Not buried (stated at presser). Along the side of the road (stated at presser).

Whose home??

http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13297637

BBM: Police say the investigation brought them to a home along Christie Road in Caldwell County, where they found the prosthetic leg which could belong to Zahra, who lost her real leg during two battles with cancer.

Oops, missed this before I posted my question. Thanks!

A saw... that may be why they called in FD. FDs usually have saws on their equipment/rescue trucks.

Maybe a reciprocating saw.

Wise old owl is wise indeed. She did in fact state that quite a few times.

It seems at this point there are no depths to AB's depravity - hell, I don't know what to call it. I'm leaving EB out of it for now.

Once again and sorry to bang on about it, but AB talked about Zahra in the past tense 3 times in one very short interview - he knew she was dead, and it is starting to look like he was way more involved than some even thought possible.

You know if this turns out to be factual Darnudes. It gives me flashbacks to KC's "She close ---real close Dad".

(or something to that effect, in other words getting a kind of glee and satisfaction from knowing where the body is and not telling) UGH.

JMHO.

I agree... very neglectful. You could see in photos in which Zahra was walking that she had a limp from the leg being too short. Made her kind of sway-backed in some of the photos... and that could cause her all kinds of osteo problems.

I had wondered a while back if that's why they kept her out of school... that the school would say something about her needing her leg refitted--a new leg... that it would be a huge expense that they weren't wanting to pay... possible motive.

That, or that her cancer came out of remission and they just didn't want to go to the trouble/expense to treat it and let her pass.

Whatever they did, whether neglect or direct violence, they and no one else are responsible and should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law... and then some.

I agree. And it proves they didn't have it fitted the entire time she has been in the US or that company would have the serial number on record and they wouldn't have to rely on AU. Sickening. She had to have been in pain walking on that leg. This case is worse than I could ever imagine.
