they don't seem very carefull with the evidence, it looks like it's just sort of thrown in there all willy nilly.....is it maybe supply's they use to collect evidence, i can't really tell...

Of course I don't know for sure but I think some of that was supplies such as towels, gauze, plastic bagging etc.

The use of saws in crime scene analysis is sometime used to remove floor boards to see what is there, often the perpetrator believe they have completely cleaned the floor of evidence however evidence seeps through to the floor boards and joists underneath. Also they use the saw to remove pieces of the wall that may contain evidence.
The bins often contain Luminal and Phenolphthalein tests equipment to spray the room to look for blood stain that has been cleaned up.
Also these are the normal stuff in those containers:
EVIDENT Fiberglass Brush , EVIDENT Camel Hair Brush, EVIDENT Magnetic Applicator ,Black Powder Black Magnetic Powder ,QuickLIFT Tape Pad ,Printed White Backing Cards ,Evidence Security Bags
Evidence Security Bags ,Small Printed Paper Bags ,Evidence Security Strips ,Sterile Plastic Tweezers
Sterile Cap-Shure Swabs ,Sterile Water Ampules ,Nitrile Gloves ,Magnifier ,Maglite LED 2D Cell Flashlight Gray 6" Scale ,Black Sharpie Marker ,EVIDENT Bic Pen ,Tactical Waist Pack, small shop vac, Vacuum bags. Shoe covers.
All Completely sterile

Good morning to all ! I can't thank you local folks enough. Your pictures & on scene reports are so appreciated, especially by those of us so far away.

Hopefully this will be Zahra's day!

We may have differing opinions of what happened & by who. We may not be able to keep up with the boards at all times. But we're all here for one beautiful, little girl who captured our hearts and will be an inspiration to many for years to come. That's all that really matters.

Prayers & thanks to LE. Please bring Zahra home today.

They were still guarding the house at 8:00 am this morning. They had not arrived yet if they are coming back today.

Maybe someone can answer a question for me ...
What happens to evidence that is (potentially) destroyed as part of an investigation if that evidence is owned by a third party innocent?

I would assume if they are still guarding the house, then they are not finished processing it yet. MHO.

A few months back there was an investigation at a house behind ours to the right..an individual had murdered his brother and buried him in the yard beside the house. A large area was taped off...tent over site...when the investigators and crime scene personnel left for the evening, an officer was posted in his car at the street with his spot light shining on the area at all times...CSI returned the next day to finish...tape was removed and a posted police officer was no longer needed. This was covered extensively by our local media and I believe some national. Complete with news crews flying overhead.

Reading about Zahra brings back the feelings and thoughts I had at the time this was happening just behind our home. I am dumbfounded as to what makes people commit these senseless acts. Very sad.

Good morning, sleuths.

I saw earlier that folks were wondering if the pink room was set up for Zahra or if it was already there from the previous residents. I don't know who lived there before the Bakers, but the owners of the home have never lived there. They bought it in 2005 as an investment/rental property. I found this info on the Catawba Co. GIS website that was previously linked if you want to check it out. I don't want to link it directly because it has names of innocent parties.

ETA: hope all our locals got through the two days of tornadoes relatively unscathed!

I understand where you are coming from. We've tossed it around here before, and these are my thoughts. Bear in mind that my thoughts, plus $7.95, are good for a cup of coffee at any Starbcks:

  • Yes, defense attorneys read here. So do prosecutors.
  • The folks here are pretty smart, but so are the various attorneys and others, so just because it's brought up here don't think that it hasn't already been thought of elsewhere.
  • Brining up a potential weakness in the case can also help the prosecutors prepare to address it.
  • Finally, justice is not served if the wrong person is convicted. So if the folks here do point out some problem that they see that indicates the likely suspect didn't do it, that's fine with me. I want the guilty to pay, and I sure know how I feel about this case, but the innocent should not be unjustly punished.

Thank you adnoid and thank you sarx. I have some concerns along these lines as well, in particular with this case. I agree with all of the above; in addition, if I could add that people with inside info (whether LE, attorneys, investigative bodies etc) should not be talking to other people unrelated to their job, outside of the investigation. And if those other people are posting here, it compromises the integrity of not only the investigation, but Websleuths. JMO.

Please take that into consideration.

morning WS. Here's hoping today is just as productive for LE as the last several have been.

I hope today is the day little Zahra is found... and that the wheels of justice start turning faster to punish those that have wronged her.

Thanks to you peeps that have been posting pics and info from the scene... it is much appreciated from this corner of the web.

Were there flashes in between? Like Flash of Camera??

Yes it also looked like they were taking photos with a flash camera in addition to the other lighting.

Pretty sure that stuff is supplies. Um the picture with the arrows pointing at something labeled "yarn" I believe it actually hot pink string on a spool. My husband has some and uses it all the time. He bought it at Home Depot.

MOO
