I have been thinking about the 911 call too, and really the part I am thinking about is EB explaining that AB works for a tree company.

I know people who live in the outback in Australia, well not right outback but far enough and Australia is pretty much one of the driest places around.

But anyway to my point: On properties where it can be heavily wooded and lots of brush and other potential fire hazards it is very common that one of the first things you will hear from the land owner or a local, put your smoke out properly. Small thing to say but these people are aware of the damage a fire can do.

You could be on the property all day, all week and they would still make sure and even ask, did you put that smoke out. I am not suggesting a smoke started a fire here. But EB mentioning that AB worked for a tree company would give FD a good indication that the call for a fire had potential to be a callout for a blazing fire that could get out of control.

I am curious about the news reports of the vehicle being doused in gas and wouldn't mind reading the most accurate news article which can describe where exactly this gas has been doused on the vehicle, i.e on the front, top, rear, side, inside, everywhere.

Another poster briefly touched on the suggestion that the arsonist may have been hoping for the house to burn down. If IMO the arsonist were hoping that then I would have thought the gas may have been doused all over the house drop a match and walk away.

I might have to unpack my second computer screen so I can multitask a bit better.

Out in public in May, to the point now where no one knows when she was last seen or one landlord not knowing about her at all.

Perhaps. Because I can't see parents- especially those under DSS or school watch- worrying about an event in May (end of school year) when they know they have the entire summer vacation in front of them when no one will see this child and or pay attention, kwim?

Anyone know if Zahra was signed up for summer school/camp type activities? Did I miss that somewhere?

http://www.wcnc.com/news/local/Caldwell-school-officials-tried-to-help-Zahra-Baker-104985934.html

"A source told NewsChannel 36 that the staff at Hudson did see signs of trouble in Zahra’s life and even visited her home.

"They utilized every resource within the school and any referral process that was available in the school for the well-being and welfare of Zahra," says Libby Brown, with Caldwell County schools.

Those staff members reported their concerns to the Department of Social Services, who then visited the Baker home."

good point but I can also see the opposite, placates school officials and DSS visit may be looming in the future, may as well take the free aids and then start looking for the next new residence. speculation. theorizing.

Do any of the locals know if there were any search teams out this weekend?

I am still confused as to why LE has stated that they are out looking for evidence, but have not made any comments AT ALL about searching for Zahra.

RBBM... or if EB or AB (or heck Zahra herself?) had a fondness for Richard Petty or NASCAR?

ty whynot, and there was this article as well:

http://www.wcnc.com/news/Case-of-missing-Zahra-Baker-highlights-DSS-issues-105148474.html

some really depressing statistics there and this quote re dss investigation relating to Z

Elisa Baker's attorney, Scott Reilly, wouldn't discuss specific allegations but said generally some people have "embellished, exaggerated or made up" stories of abuse.

He confirmed that DSS had received and investigated reports of child abuse against his client, but said social workers found the accusations "unsubstantiated."

:furious:

The head honchos are probably helping to get Monday's grand jury presentation into shape this weekend.

My thought as well. Appearances for what prupose?

I believe there was celebrities there as well. Richard Petty was one of them. Maybe there was a certain celebrity attending that she liked?

MOO and just wild guesses but I see a lot that EB would have gone for. News cameras, famous people, attention for a doting mother with a cancer kid. I also think she would have seen it as an opportunity to get her claws into some freebies. If they are giving away expensive hearing aids what else where they handing out?

And maybe I am reaching but it would probably turn some heads if the mother of a deaf child decided to pass up free hearing aids to help her child in school. Staying under the radar seemed important to EB.

I understand...but to all media appearances, Zahra looks like a beautiful, well cared for child in May. What happened in those summer months?

My guess would be no school, they had to move again, and someone got tired of the facade of being a caring step mother while dad was at work. MOO

Also, as far as DSS investigating the probable abuse going on in those homes, is it possible that Adam may not have even been aware that there were DSS officials visiting the home?

From all indications, he was reportedly working very long hours at the tree service(although we have no idea what he was doing prior to going to work for the tree service six months ago). And, on that note, where WAS he working prior to the tree service? He must have been employed somewhere as they had no other source of income. The stepmother, from what her daughter has stated, was not working.

Is it possible that DSS was visiting and only interviewing the stepmother and Zahra since Adam was presumably at work?

JMO - even tho the hearing aids were taken care of, I truly believe the "leg" was beginning to pose some serious problems. She had obviously outgrown it and was probbly having a very hard time walking correctly with it - maybe also causing blisters, sores, etc on her little stump.

I think little Zahra's leg played a huge role in this terribly sad story.

They say as of Friday they were indeed searching for Zahra.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5952112/zahra_baker_case_search_continues_for.html?cat=8

Friday's search radiated out from the brushy area in Caldwell County where the leg was found in an effort to hopefully find the remains of the girl.

Lets hope they continue. :)

From NGrace transcript, http://www.livedash.com/transcript/nancy_grace/5100/HLN/Sunday_October_17_2010/320852/

00:33:54 >> Are you saying the school came out?
00:33:55 >> Caller: Yes, the school -- the assistant principal of the elementary did come out and she brought another lady with her.
00:34:02 And it was on a saturday and shortly after that, two or three weeks after that, they moved out of the neighborhood.

I do know what you mean. It hasn't made sense to me either. I thought one of the relatives said she spent some weekends with them. I am not sure LE trusts info coming from the family as they have asked for help from outside the family. At least EB knew she would move again soon as that was her way of living for quite some time so they had her in school until May. Did they enroll her in school here as soon as they came to the states. How many moves in that time?

  • #377
yes it was... and they were concerned for her... and when DCS comes out (if they ever do) with calls on this child I think we will see a huge log of concerns including from professionals at this particular school.

moo

It also brings up the possibility someone there could have recommended she receive a new prosthesis, or at least refer her to a doctor.......before the new school year which could've been another factor for the 'home-schooling'. Any thoughts? MOO

Do the hearing aids have resale value?? I have no clue, that's why I'm asking. Would EB & AB be able to make money off the hearing aids?? :waitasec::waitasec: JMO

Hearing aids for kids are ordered by audiologists and set at specific frequencies for each child. Most need ear molds ,which are made from a putty mold of that child's actual ear.You can get new ones made as the child grows. Besides that ,they are covered under CRS - Children's Rehabilitative Services. I think most kids qualify if their insurance doesn't cover it or they have no insurance.

Very interesting line of thought,though.

How and when was Zahra's hearing loss discovered ? The general practice here ,in the States, is a baseline prior to giving medications that are known to cause hearing loss and then a follow-up when done.
Not sure about Australia, but imagine it's the same.
Also ,schools screen for vision and hearing.Maybe that's when it was discovered and that's why someone from the school recommended the event.
My son has frequent follow-ups,much like dental and vision .Did Zahra?
