SPECULATION ALERT

I think we are looking at death in the house, in that back bedroom. Prosthetic leg likely the weapon.

I think we are dealing with dismemberment to some extent. We have not seen reports that they have removed the bathtub, so I am pondering whether this could have taken place in the crawl space? I am super willing to abandon this piece of my theory.

Alternately, I could be persuaded that there was a failed attempt to incinerate the body in the Tahoe as another WSer posited.

I think we have burning of evidence including attempted burning of the prosthesis, clothing that perpetrators wore, bandages used to wrap Zahra's stump, and more.

I think some of the burnt evidence was turned over into the yard/buried, either with or without being run through the woodchipper at the home.

I think significant cover-up & repair work was done in the house to hide evidence. And that both AB and EB are guilty, although AB did not know where the prosthesis ended up (because he was taking care of other business during its disposal).

All :cow: and :truce:!

Just thinking outloud here...
But the hose coming out of the house really has been bothering me... I think, obviously the crime occured in back right of the house.. what we are assuming to be Zahra's room... What if EB and AB switched rooms and placed a waterbed over a large area of blood.. and had also painted the room.. Giving the appearance to the LE that it was their room... and told LE that Zahra's room was in the front of the house... Maybe that tarp that S. Homey saw was the waterbed mattress... and the wood was parts of the waterbed... I think that Zahra has been gone for some time before LE was made aware of it... :(
Ribbit. Ribbit. Ribb-IT! :twocents:  :cow:

I think the big give away on the ransom note was the fact that it was written on their electic bill envelope and the actual bill was found in the vehicle...
Who goes to kidnap a child an searches around a vehicle to find something to write a ransom note on... especially in the dark.. puts gas inside the vehicle, sneaks around back to start a fire as a distraction, so that the kidnappers can sneak inside and take a one legged daughter from the home while their not looking... but yet the kidnappers didn't notice the difference between the bosses daughter and Zahra.. but knew that he had a red headed pot smoking son... whew... OK.. makes sense...??

...NO kidding----any self-respecting kidnapper brings the note WITH them!
( handled with gloves alone to avoid fingerprints..)

...they don't scrawl it out--at the scene--in their own handwriting! no less, i'm very thankful that she did though------because that is what brought about the indictment today.

...and then--------in ALL of the many places the leg could have been in the county---she led them right there too
...( keep at it elisa------looking fwd. to that next indictment..)

I've found 2 MSM reports (MSNBC, etc) saying at the start of this there was burned pieces of clothing in the woodchip piles. This keeps bothering me and I wonder why those reports aren't being echoed anymore.

And BTW - I had a huge pile of woodchips delivered and darned if that thing didn't start smoking. It was not steam - but smoke. This is why it's really bad to put a big pile by the house. My neighbors called me to tell me. I had to move the pile around a bit to make it stop/cool it down.

The RN was written on their electric bill? That's the first I've ever heard of THAT.

Wood chips can spontaneously combust...as can mulch.

If the RN was really written on their electric bill envelope, that makes it seem like the whole fire/ransom note/missing daughter bull crap was a hastily thought out plan, doesn't it?? I mean if you were planning some scheme to make LE think someone started a fire to distract you so they could mistakenly kidnap your daughter, who they thought was your boss's daughter, wouldn't they use a nice crisp piece of paper that they had written in advance?? What lunatic would drive by and think "Oh, the Coffey's live there!!! I think I will start a fire in their truck and write a ransom note on the electric bill (which doesn't BELONG to the Coffey's) and then kidnap their daughter!" These people are WAY too <modsnip> to get away with this horrible crime!!!

Not on the bill itself - it was written on the envelope that the bill came in - oh and the bill itself was found in the Tahoe as well.

the intelligence factor of these two has to be in the negative.

ETA: Do we have confirmation that the electric bill was in THEIR name and not Coffey? Sometimes landlords will leave the bill in their name and just have the tenant pay it.

Oh wow really! Haha!! Unpaid of course, yes? Oh hang on, stupid question, definitely. I wonder which of her names it was in? I'm surprised she didn't write it on her own leg.

I'm right there with you on everything but these few points: 1). I don't think the leg was the murder weapon. 2). I have no reason to believe the leg was ever attempted to be burned 3). while I'm leaning toward dismemberment, I still have questions in my mind about the mysterious Monte Carlo and 4). I think AB was the one in charge of dumping the leg with EB instructing him on where.

pity tha fool who taps them on the shoulder to ask them a silly question.

AF wouldn't be making up a story that if EB got out she would have to leave the state for no reason.

KB is in the US but wants privacy so she can help LE do their job properly, they have their own people to talk to and if there is little talk going to you, then at this time they are just shopping for something to keep them comfortable while they are in that Country, what more would they be doing they need someone to show them around that strange place, the town that lost Zahra.

Sorry but just sayin...you know if you were walking in their shoes you wouldn't be standing around Walmart saying come talk to me stranger especially at this time. Read the Townsville Bulletin if you want to know Adam and can't find out elsewhere. Ask them the questions about Adam they have KB on speed dial but don't annoy them because they are busy people too :)

Agree with you....just happened upon the sighting of AB and AF while I was shopping. The fact that he looked around to make sure no one followed him in the restroom....well....I would be watching my back as well, if I were him. No one seemed to bother either of them at all, from where I was standing. Its a small town :innocent:

Of all the info to have missed, I missed THIS?! Good lord! :banghead:

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/12/north.carolina.missing.girl/index.html?section=cnn_latest

The girl's stepmother, Elisa Baker, has been charged with obstruction of justice after admitting to writing a ransom note...

Firefighters found a Chevrolet Tahoe with its passenger door open and a power company envelope with handwriting on it on the front windshield, the search warrant said.

The note written on the envelope was addressed to a "Mr. Coffey," identified in the search warrant as Adam Baker's boss, Mark David Coffey.

"Mr. Coffey, you like being in control now who is in control," the note said, according to the search warrant. "We have your daughter and your pot smoking red head son is next unless you do what is asked 1,000,000 unmarked will be in touch soon." In the bottom right, the note said, "no cops," according to the warrant.

I just cannot for the life of me believe she was dismembered.....gawd I can hardly type that. Shudder. There would just have to be evidence left in that home...you can't just do that and remove all trace I don't think....surely if LE thought that they would have secured that home from the get go....I don't know if I can't believe it or my mind doesn't want to go there yet. I believe these/this perp just is simply not smart enough to be able to remove everything....look at the sloppy RN and everything else....IMO. Lord help us all.

While I 100% remember these reports, I am not seeing them in our media links thread and am not having luck calling them up in online searches... does anyone have saved screen shots of these stories?

We've seen in this case (and others) that online media alter stories at will without giving notice. For our sleuthers who specialize in this sort of thing, probably good to grab screen shots of any news articles from here out, so we can add them to that thread. May we never need a full forum for Zahra, but if/when we do, having these will be invaluable.

And the power bill/ransom note is one piece of the puzzle that lends credence to the idea that Zahra had been gone a while, and they suddenly needed to explain her absence. I've read three theories about why this might have happened:

- contact from Zahra's birth mother
- refusal of family members to drop agg ass charges
- LE-reported impending visit of *some kind of inspector*

ETA: and thank you for your responses to my theories! Believe me, I want every one of them not to be true!

EB "accidentally" beat her to death while dad apathetically sat by and did nothing. Then, panicked, they schemed together to determine how to dispose of her poor, little body and hide what happened. I have no clue how they disposed of her. I don't think I want to know.

How could all of that be presented into court to bring Justice for a little girl lost.

Instead of saying you have no clue, think about the clues that bring you to your current partial conclusion. I am not picking on you just prompting you a little.

Because if your post were just a little more elaborate others can chop your comment up and take it with them to help that partial conclusion come to something solid. No-one is going to have to big answer without considering everything. The cops have asked for help, probably not asked for people to do their job but the additional help is exactly what you have contributed and right or wrong it is helpful.

Your post ...like this one and even though it might fill up the thread, don't worry no trees will get hurt unless someone wants to print all this out :)

I've always thought the fire incident just screamed "panic". IMO, this mysterious "home inspection" LE spoke of was a DSS inspection. Zahra was already gone, inspection was coming up, gotta act fast, KNIM? In fact, it wouldn't surpirse me a bit if plans were come up with before the fire/kidnapping plan, but were never followed through with (for one reason or another). And even the fire/kidnapping setup didn't go as planned, imo, since I've really come to believe that they intended to "discover" Z missing during that staging, but backed out because they feared they might not have covered all their bases.

All just MOO.

Hi Netsleuther....hope you don't mind me asking this and I mean no harm at all. I have lost a child so I am not coming out of nowhere here when I ask if you listened to the 911 call AB made and did it not sound odd to you? I am serious and mean no offense...I realize you have an attachment to AB but in all seriousness did it not sound the least bit odd? Thank you if you choose to answer and I understand if you do not.
