Wsoctv channel 9 local just showed that AB and his lawyer was at the house today they took pictures in the back yard. neighbors were yelling at him that he should be locked up or hung.... AB left with a black suitcase looks to me like he got into a black dodge truck. His lawyer would not say if AB was cooperating with police now or not. Searchers were back out searching on Christie rd today..... video has not been loaded to their website yet so I will say ...JMO

Hickory Deputy Chief of Police Clyde Deal acknowledged that the letters likely were written by Elisa Baker. "I think probably these letters were down at the jail," he said after AOL News showed them to him. "I am not a handwriting analyst, but I mean I wouldn't suspect that it didn't [come from her].

I keep coming back to WHY did EB want Zahra to come with them to the US? AB was/is not the doteing kind of father who wants his child with him(moo) so EB had to be the one insisting she be brought along in spite of all the protests.. So how did she profit?
AARG!! These people are soo dumb it boggles my mind!!

If he paid her to marry him so he could come to the U.S. with his daughter he would only have to stay married to her for a certain amount of time and she would get quite a bit of money and would move out of their lives and he would go on with his life with Zahra Eb didnt care if Zahra came along or not.

Just an idea folks just a thought and i think thats why that other guy paid her 10 grand. maybe she was going to move on.... sure seems like... JMO

Just thinking (typing) out loud here, so bear with me...

We've discussed in previous threads the types of gov't assistance the family would receive. As others have stated, Zahra and AB's immigrant status would make them ineligible for most benefits, even despite Zahra's medical conditions. Now we have AB - a confirmed collector of gov't assistance, and definitely a potential scammer of the system (IMO). I’d bet she’s the type who knew every in and out and loophole to manipulate her way into getting the most benefits possible. It sounds like EB had been doing this for years - with all these mysterious painful illnesses, fake diseases etc. I’m not sure how it works in NC, but I know where I live, you have to prove a pretty solid case that you absolutely cannot work to get full disability benefits. Maybe someone down at the state office was starting to see through her BS. Maybe she’d exhausted all her options with her strange disease that she couldn’t quite prove. Maybe her SSI was running out, or it was time to reapply for food stamps. Or maybe she was just greedy and wanted more free $$… Either way, I’m wondering if she saw having Zahra at home as a new way to scam social services. In the government’s eyes, she could certainly get a part time job with a ten year old in school, but what if she were suddenly the full time caregiver of a disabled, homebound child? I’ve been digging around this site for more info on NC benefits, abut need a bit more time to figure out exactly how it would work [http://www.carolina-disability.com/]

Anyway, I’m wondering if pulling Zahra out of school was an attempt to build the case for more $$ for EB. I can also see how this would be presented to AB, especially in light of their obvious financial troubles. Just my opinion…

Is this confirmed she was on some type of goverment assitance?

When i immigrated to Canada from the USA my husband had to show without a doubt that he could support myself and my daughter and that we would not be a hinderous to the goverment assistance programs before they would even look at my application. He had to provide bank statements and work records along with letters from his company about his job.

I had to go looking for as i would have assumed the USA would have had some similar type of clause and they do..( see below)

If she gets out she is moving across country:

Baker said if she manages to get out of jail, she will have to "go into hiding and move across the country" because of all the bad press and hate mail she is receiving.

In regard to her stepdaughter, Baker had little to say other than reporting that the cops "know where she is and what he has done."

Well, she claims in the letters that she HAS told the cops everything. And there is a quote from LE in the article:

"Obviously not everything she speaks in there is true," he added, noting that the contents of the letter "sound much like the same stuff that she's spouting to some other people."

So apparently they are aware of this stuff and it isn't new to them.

To me, that just SCREAMS that they had something planned, but it didn't go right. EB/AB thought no one would notice, outside of their sheltered little world. But that damn childhood cancer thing got in the way, and people noticed a little too much.
