Even if it has a metal core?
Well I would first have to wonder how much metal would actually be in it, she was only a small girl and if there was metal inside I would have to think it would not be much, but I do not know much about them. I do know that some of those chippers can mulch up a full tree at one time, hubby's at work can take an entire tree 18" - 20" at the base, so I kind of think it would have munched it up at least. The metal would probably be mangled up but it would go through theirs at least.

Is the wood chipper in Burke County?
Yes on Hartland Road, north of Morganton, in Burke County. Looks like this one is going to cover three connecting counties. Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba. :(

That includes next-door neighbor Charles Bost, who says Zahra's father and stepmother, Adam and Elisa Baker, chatted with him in the yard once or twice and mentioned their dog.

But, he says, in the month and a half the Baker's lived here, they never mentioned a daughter.

"I didn't even know that she existed. I mean I've never seen her and I never heard him mention her or anything like that,” Bost said.

And that for me just sums up this whole story.

They mention the bloody dog and not Zahra! Sick!

Folks, I know how bad this looks and how everyone is feeling. Don't want to be all mod-like, but please let's remember there are possibly people reading here who love or loved this child.

This is not where they should be reading IMO.

There is a info and support thread though.

It's sad that her Dad is no longer cares about her & allowed his wife to abuse her & get rid of her in life for good.

IMO If the dogs are hitting on the big yellow chipper the body would have had to go through on the site its at right? Why would they move the mulch pile to thier hom? just doent make sense to me.

I'm not sure WSF. But, just off the top of my head~ the mulch that was possibly created by the disposal of human remains in this fashion (trying to be as diplomatic as possible because Zahra is a child). It would make sense to transport that mulch to a place that it wouldn't be stumbled upon quickly. It would make sense to try to further destroy the mulched evidence through fire.

If indeed that is what happened.

If it is what happened then the coverup took a lot of planning and is probably the most heinous coverup I've seen in a long time.

Just waiting on further reports before I believe this to be factual. KWIM?

I'm sure special forensics could differentiate metal particles from wood elements. moo

Good point Oriah.

If we have guests who are friends or family members otherwise associated with Zahra personally then the following link is for your support and your information so that you don't have to wade through the speculative posts that could possibly cause you more pain. God be with you.

I think the fire call and the mulch pile were all planned to get LE attention there so it could be "discovered" that Zahra was missing but for some reason that didn't go as planned so a call had to be placed later in teh day reporting her missing and "reminding" LE of the strange ransom note found earlier in the morning.
