Hello!

I’m a new member but this news report struck a chord with me.

Source

I’m a numbers person and the law enforcement writing this off as only “concerning” sat wrong with me.

<Mod snipped- need a source for the stats>

To be clear-most of these children are a part of the tribal community and/or POC. I think that helps the context.

Here are the missing:

  1. Dashira Chapple, 14. Last seen in Fargo on July 29.
  2. Camila Naara Juarez Perez, 9. Last seen in Williston on Aug. 3.
  3. Maddison Mickaila Finch, 16. Last seen in Grand Forks County on Aug. 9.
  4. Angel Marquece Peltier, 15. Last seen in Fargo on Aug. 10.
  5. Mariah Alexandria Gorneau, 19. Last seen in Mandan.
  6. Adrian Skye Spies, 14. Last seen in Fargo on Aug 11.
  7. Abbigail Louise Compeau, 16. Last seen in Grand Forks on Aug. 12.
  8. Anaiese Dachelle Weems, 3. Last seen in Minot on Aug. 13.
  9. Xiyan Oka, 16. Last seen in Ward County on Aug. 13.
  10. Xoey Iceman, 16. Last seen in Ward County on Aug. 13.
  11. Tayvin Fox, 15. Last seen in Ward County on Aug. 13.
LE states that this could also be an incomplete list, as some missing persons may be reported as runaways and therefore not in the missing persons database.

I’ve only seen this reported in one place and that also concerns me. This is not right.

I apologize if my post is missing anything required in posts. Happy to improve in the future with feedback.

Thank you for reading.

Welcome @thefemmefury. <modsnip> I tend to agree (at quick glance only) with LE in that nothing popped out in the names listed as far as any connecting activity or circumstances to link them, other than most were teens. The rise in teen runaways during the summer tends to spike in all states (nicer weather, being unsupervised, no school, etc). It's not just happening in ND, (but I'm glad you brought it to all of our attention) but in other areas as highlighted by this pretty informative article from Texas: A look at the alarming rise in teen runaways in the Greater Houston area during summer months

But the missing kids in ND may also be in part to the overall rise in missing indigenous kids. My Mom (a former Deputy Sheriff) grew up on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana (I'm adopted, I'm not Native American) so I'm aware of situations that arise in tribal communities. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has done a really good study on it (the study was too large to attach here as a pdf document but you can read it on their website).

"Native American children comprised 294 of the 28,845 children reported missing to the National Center in 2023. 96% of the children reported were resolved."

"From 2012-2023, of the Native American children who were Endangered Runaways, 32% had two or more missing incidents, 46% reportedly suffered from mental illness, and 25% expressed suicidal behavior".

"The latest data from (our)10-year report indicates 99% of missing Native American child cases reported to NCMEC were resolved."

Their website information on the subject can be viewed at: Native, Indigenous, and Tribal Communities

Again, thanks for your research and for starting the thread - Grace.

Hi Grace!

Thank you for your kind and insightful reply. Especially with your firsthand knowledge and experience the indigenous community. (Also, your mom sounds so cool).

The links you shared are incredibly helpful and informative.

I guess my frustration lies in the disparity of coverage pertaining to missing or murdered belonging to these communities. Obviously, this is a huge systemic issue and not a new or unknown one. Just one that gets to me more and more everyday. I also understand we can’t highlight every missing person or child but the cases that do get blown up are overwhelmingly concerning white people.

It runs parallel to me in the sense that 3 women are killed everyday in DV incidents yet we (society/popular media) zoom in on victims we find “more compelling” or sensational.

I understand why but I feel like these deeper systemic issues (DV, MMIP) are so glossed over and accepted that a lot of people don’t pay attention or are numb.

Thank you again for your amazing insight. I’m usually screaming these injustices into the void and selfishly, it felt better to at least try to get more eyes on the issue.

If you run the stats, this is a HUGE anomaly.

I agree. I feel this is a lot of kids for them not to be connected.

I agree. I feel this is a lot of kids for them not to be connected.
I certainly understand why it appears that they could be linked. The facebook posts popping up all over about these "teens" also would make it appear that way. But look at them individually. Of those listed as missing, the State Attorney General, which tracks all missing now only shows 7 of them confirmed still missing. Of those who are still missing, one has had a history of drug use which may or may not factor into her being missing. One has a history of running away. 2 are not indigenous, 2 are not teens. Only two of the missing are from the same town. ALL are endangered and worth our time and care, but I don't honestly see any ties between the missing socially (community, tribal affiliation, friends, school) or geographically, except for Finch and Compeau, both non-Native American girls who went missing from Grand Forks, population less than 60,000.

Dashira Chapple. Name has been removed from State Attorney General Missing Site. Presumed Located. Missing Indigenous Persons

Camila Naara Juarez Perez, 9, still missing. Williston.
Maddison Mickaila Finch, 16. Still missing. Not Indiginous. Grand Forks. Missing Person Details

Angel Marquece Peltier, 15 Still missing and listed on the Attorney General website for the missing. Fargo.
Mariah Alexandria Gorneau, 19. Still missing. Mandan, ND. Arrest in 2023 on drug charges. https://burleighnd.mugshots.zone/gourneau-mariah-alexandria-mugshot-12-08-2023/ No other missing reported in that area. Missing Indigenous Persons

Adrian Skye Spies, 14. Last seen in Fargo on Aug 11. No longer listed on the Attorney General
website for the missing
(general, indigenous or children). Presumed located.

Abbigail Louise Compeau 16 Not indigenous. Still missing. Grand Forks.
Anaiese Dachelle Weems, 3. African American, not indigenous. Still missing. Minot.
Missing Person Details

Xiyan Oka ran away in 2022 and was found safely. He went missing from a different STATE as well at that time, the town of Mobridge, South Dakota. Missing Again in Ward County, so statistically, may be a runaway again, but we can't rule anything out. https://www.keloland.com/news/local-news/rapid-city-police-search-for-missing-teen/

Xoey Iceman - runaway. Presumed located safe. Login • Instagram NOT verified by mainstream media however.

Tayvin Fox, 15. No longer listed on the Attorney General missing database. Presumed located.

Did some googling and found some updates:

Camila Naara Juarez Perez, 9, still missing. Williston.
Found one source saying she does not live in Williston, however can't find any more information supporting/confirming that.

Angel Marquece Peltier, 15 Still missing and listed on the Attorney General website for the missing. Fargo.
Didn't find anything new.

Mariah Alexandria Gorneau, 19. Still missing. Mandan, ND.
No longer on the missing people site, appears to have been found.

Anaiese Dachelle Weems, 3. Black. Still missing. Minot.
Found no updates.

Xiyan Oka, 16, Ward County.
Not listed on the missing people registry online (not sure if Xiyan was previously on there). I've found no updates or anything saying he's been found, only a private Instagram account that may or may not be his.

I do want to point out that there are other missing BIPoC children not listed in the articles:

Elaxander Richard Greywater, 16, Indigenous, last seen 08/25/25, Bismark.

Dystiny Rivers, 14, Black, last seen 08/15/25, Bismark.

Kartor Benjamin Stewart, 16, Black, last seen 08/24/25, Grand Forks.

Can only find info for a Kartor Stewart in WI, not sure if they're the same person.

Brayden Zane Desjarlais, 16, Indigenous, last seen 08/21/25, Minot.

Miriam Alexa Sanchez Gonzales, 16, last seen 08/20/24 Minot.
Naomy Fernanda Sanche Gonzales, 17, last seen 08/20/24, Minot.
Elijah Whitelightning, 15, Indigenous, last seen 11/21/24, Burleigh.

I've noticed a lot of these children are missing from Minot, which only has a population of 48k, which might support the idea that they are in fact connected. I also took a look at missing Indigenous adults in the area as well, and while obviously they all deserve attention, I wanted to highlight that there are two people missing from a reservation that only has a little over 6k people:

Isaac James Hunt, 28, Indigenous, last seen 03/08/24, Turtle Mountain.

Cayden Rodriguez, 18, Indigenous, last seen 02/14/25, Turtle Mountain.

I'm not sure why he's not listed under missing children as well.

The only thing I'm able to find on any of these missing people is some social media accounts, most of which I'm unable to say are theirs with any certainty. I can continue to look through those, but I doubt I'll be able to find anything useful. I also assume (and hope) LE has already looked for social media connections, but maybe I'm being naive. I'm new to this, so I'm not really sure where else to look, but if anyone has any suggestions, please lmk.

Here are the links I got most of this information from:

There are pictures for some of these missing people on these sites, I would add a link but there seems to be issues with links directing to them, so I suggest taking a look through them.

Tried to find some updates. Seemed to be most of the same information as when I looked last, so I didn't go as deep and it's possible I missed something, please let me know if you find anything! I'm just looking at the first couple google results.

Camila Naara Juarez Perez, 9, still missing, Williston.
Found one source saying she does not live in Williston, however can't find any more information supporting/confirming that.
From this article:
Juarez Perez, 9, was last seen Aug. 3. According to the Williston Police Department, Juarez Perez most recently resided in California but has a relative living in Williston who reported her missing. The department has not received word from California law enforcement regarding her status.

Angel Marquece Peltier, 15, still missing, listed on the Attorney General website for the missing, Fargo.
Didn't find anything new.
Found no new updates.

Anaiese Dachelle Weems, 3, Black, possibly still missing, Minot.
Found no updates.
I don't see her on the missing persons registry. She appears to have had a page at one point, and a google search leads to link to the site, but none of the links to the site work, so I can't tell if she's been found or if there's just an issue with their site. The same article seems to assume she's been found based on this, but I haven't found any sources directly stating this.

Xiyan Oka, 16, possibly still missing, Ward County.
Not listed on the missing people registry online (not sure if Xiyan was previously on there). I've found no updates or anything saying he's been found, only a private Instagram account that may or may not be his.
Found one unconfirmed source saying he's been found.
MISSING CHILDREN NOT MENTIONED IN ORIGINAL ARTICLES (including children that have gone missing since my first post):

Elaxander Richard Greywater, 16, Indigenous, last seen 08/25/25, Bismark.
No longer on the missing children registry. Cannot find any sources saying he's been found, however.

Dystiny Rivers, 14, Black, last seen 08/15/25, Bismark.
Also no longer on the registry, however I can't find any other information.

Kartor Benjamin Stewart, 16, still missing, Black, last seen 08/24/25, Grand Forks.
Can only find info for a Kartor Stewart in WI, not sure if they're the same person.
Found no updates. Still on the ND missing children site and mentioned as still missing in recent articles. Entry on the ND missing children registry seems to have been updated to state he was last seen 09/08/25.

Brayden Zane Desjarlais, 16, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 08/21/25, Minot.
Still on the missing children registry, also mentioned in recent articles as still missing.

Miriam Alexa Sanchez Gonzales, 16, still missing, last seen 08/20/24, Minot.
Still listed as missing.

Naomy Fernanda Sanche Gonzales, 17, still missing, last seen 08/20/24, Minot.
Still listed as missing.

Elijah Whitelightning, 15, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 11/21/24, Burleigh.
Mentioned in recent articles as still missing.

Hannah Malaterre, 13, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 08/31/25, Turtle Mountain.
See below.

Alexis Leona Belgarde, 16, possibly found, Indigenous, last seen 09/07/25, Williston.
Rock'C Dale Runsthrough, 16, possibly found, Indigenous, last seen 09/07/25, Williston.
Kaydey Track, 15, possibly found, Indigenous, last seen 09/07/25, Williston.

There seems to be at least one souce saying these three have been found, update 2 hours before the writing of this post.
Adrian Warpaint, 16, still missing, last seen 09/08/25, Grand Forks.
Can't find any updates.

Alexa Taylor, 16, presumed found, last seen 08/17/25, Grand Forks.
Mentioned in one of the somewhat recent articles, but no longer on the registry, so I assume she's been found.

I've noticed a lot of these children are missing from Minot, which only has a population of 48k, which might support the idea that they are in fact connected.

I also took a look at missing Indigenous adults in the area as well, and while obviously they all deserve attention, I wanted to highlight that there are multiple people missing from a reservation that only has a little over 6k people:

From this article:
According to the North Dakota Missing Person’s Clearinghouse, eight Indigenous people have been reported missing since 2023 by the Fort Totten BIA agency which oversees the Spirit Lake Reservation. An additional two Indigenous people were reported missing in the border town of Devils Lake, ND in 2023. None of the missing people have a photo available within the Clearinghouse.

Isaac James Hunt, 28, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 03/08/24, St. Michael.
Still missing. Article on his disappearance. Websleuths thread.

Cayden Rodriguez, 18, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 02/14/25, Turtle Mountain.
I'm not sure why he's not listed under missing children as well.
Found no updates.

Jemini Posey, 22, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 01/07/24, Fort Totten.
From the same reservation as Isaac Hunt (Spirit Lake). Article. Another article. Websleuths thread.

Hannah Malaterre, 13, still missing, Indigenous, last seen 08/31/25, Turtle Mountain.
Mentioning her here as well because she is also missing from the same area. I can't find any updates.
