Anthony Valdez was last seen leaving the Level 10 bar in the downtown area of Grand Forks in the early morning hours of February 6th. He was wearing a green winter coat with a fur lined hood and a black baseball cap.

Lieutenant Jeremy Moe with the Grand Forks Police Department says nearby residents are encouraged to check their property for any signs of movement through those areas.

"We're asking people to pay some extra attention to their property, whether it's vehicles, outbuildings, RVs, sheds, garages, all that kinds of stuff - but just to see if there's been any activity or if anyone's accessed them. We're trying to see if we can track any movements; there is a belief that Anthony Valdez did go in a north, northwestern direction from downtown."

Hopefully Anthony is somewhere safe, but it's been over 2 days...

How deep and fast flowing is the Red River?

Another young man missing from a bar. Check nearby bodies of water. I think we need to start a Public Service Announcement: Dear young men, stop going to bars!!!

We may need to be extremely specific! Dear young men, stop going to bars within a 10 mile radius of ANY form of water including a fountain.

Really now I think there should be a public awareness campaign for men going to bars, drinking, then going home alone. Just to make them.more aware and hopefully persuade one to get a can home instead of walking. A campaign similar to ones in the past, for example not driving drunk or not wearing a seat belt.

What I can't wrap my head around is yes they are drunk, but do they just fall into the water? I can't see in my mind how it happens.

I don't know the outcome in this case yet but I bet water is involved.

Looks like a dance club, only opened 3 days a week 9pm-2am. I wonder if he went with other people?

At least bars near a water source. It is depressing how often this ends in tragedy.

Sometimes I think all these men think it's a good idea to pee into a river when they can barely stand up because they are so drunk.

Yes! I want to start a public service announcement - "Pee on a tree." It seems like this is exactly what happens, they pee in the water and fall in (I don't understand the water's magnetism - I'm not a guy - but it does seem to have some draw).

I'm sure there is a catchier phrase, but "Pee on a tree" has popped into my head in many instances in the last couple of years.

ETA - sure enough, Red River a block or two away. Hope this link works. So worrisome.

I wonder how soon information whether a confirmation or other identification will be released? Praying for whomever this poor soul is, and for Anthony and his family.

The temp has been been -20 to -30 at night and with the wind chill, even colder. THE COD is probably hypothermia if he fell or passed out---it wouldn't take long. If he had made it to the river and fallen in, he wouldn't have drown. The top of the river is frozen solid. People frequently snowmobile on the river.

I agree. In cold climes it doesn't take long to DIE of hypothermia. Add a few drinks, a minute or 2 to rest, nap, whatever, and that's all she wrote.
