ORIGINAL - 7/6/18:

The Grand Forks Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating Joseph Bruce Sr. Joseph was reported missing by his family on July 3, 2018 and has not been in contact with his family since June 25, 2018. Joseph was last seen in Devils Lake, ND on June 25, 2018. Joseph is a 38 year old Native American male, approximately 6'1" tall, 200 lbs with brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information as to Joseph's current location or his whereabouts during this time frame is asked to contact the Devils Lake Police Department at 701-662-0700 or the Grand Forks Police Department at 701-787-8000.

Family of missing man say they believe he was murdered

In the following days, Bruce's van was found in a secluded area in between some sloughs on the Spirit Lake Reservation. Everything left behind, except Joseph Bruce.

But JoLyn says Devils Lake Police continued to tell her and her family that her father simply ran away.

"It's just not like him to take off, and we know he didn't take off. I mean we kind of knew enough from the start, but we gave it a few days, and then we knew something was wrong," JoLyn said.

Rumors started flying and calls to Bruce's family and the Devils Lake Police Department poured in, with graphic details of how Bruce was murdered.

"Saying, 'Huh they're never gonna find him. They'll never find his body. They're looking over here for nothing. If you heard all the stories me and my daughter heard, it's scary. It's like how could they do that to somebody?" Patnaude said.

He has an extensive criminal record in Grand Forks County... a few assaults, criminal mischief and drugs.

It doesn't really sound like they have gotten any more information, and now his son has passed away this summer. They still don't mention finding any more of his remains.
