Kara Lynn Mauai is my Daughter. She's been missing since November 8th, 2019. At the date of posting this announcement, there has been multiple tips that have come in, all of which have been investigated. But the fact still remains, she is still missing and was last seen in Selfridge, North Dakota.
Kara is 30 years old, 5'3 weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown curly hair.
She has a star tattoo on the inside of her left wrist and the name "Ikaika" on the inside of her right wrist.
Kara is a Mother of 3 Children, 2 Boys, and 1 Girl.
Kara is a member of The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Volunteers and law enforcement search for missing woman

SELFRIDGE, N.D. - More than 30 volunteers joined law enforcement Saturday in a search for a missing woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.

Thirty-year-old Kara Lynn Mauai was last seen on Nov. 8.

Saturday’s search centered in the Selfridge area, which is where Mauai was last seen. Searchers went through the entire town, as well as outlying areas, but did not find any sign of Mauai.

Organizers say they will continue these search efforts until Mauai is found. They're planning another search in Porcupine on Monday morning. More volunteers are welcome; organizers ask that anyone wanting to help search on Monday meet at the TERO office in Fort Yates at 10 a.m. From there, they’ll break into teams and search the town and area around Porcupine.

The searches are being organized by Mauai’s family and friends, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and local law enforcement. Those who know Mauai say it's not like her to disappear and not contact anyone, especially her mom.

It's always sad when a missing person has a criminal history, with a recent arrest. Some will assume they are in hiding to avoid legal problems and the MP gets no attention. In some cases it's true, they are in hiding. But in this case, Kara's Mom says she would never be out of communication with her. She has three beautiful children who need their mama

Authorities say there are conflicting reports of whether Kara Mauai was last seen in McLaughlin, S.D., or Porcupine, N.D.

Law enforcement began searching last week in Selfridge and this week in Porcupine.

Monday they found clothing at a place she once stayed. A search through Porcupine, led to the discovery of a garbage bag full of clothing, that was identified as Kara's.

The volunteers on horseback search areas that are hard to reach on foot between Selfridge and Porcupine, a distance of about 20 miles. The Fort Yates woman was last seen Nov. 8 in the Selfridge area.

The family of a missing Native American mother of three has asked community members and law enforcement to join another search on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation this Saturday, Jan. 11.

For those wanting to participate in the next search on Saturday, volunteers and Big Foot Riders should meet at 10 a.m. at the information center in Fort Yates, N.D., according to the family's Facebook page, "Bring Kara Home."

A search through Porcupine, led to the discovery of a garbage bag full of clothing, that was identified as Kara's.

"I imagine they'll take that and do some testing on it, and things like that. Some other information come in today from some sources too," said Elliot Ward, Emergency Manager for Standing Rock.

With leads coming in from all parts of the state, the BIA is working to find more clues to Kara.

"A lot of leads actually go toward Selfridge, Porcupine, and also McLaughlin," said Mike Faith, Standing Rock chairman.
