Indigenous Women Have Been Disappearing for Generations. Politicians Are Finally Starting to Notice.

Improving the data is a key objective of the proposed laws. The most significant piece of legislation so far is Savanna’s Act, introduced in October 2017 by U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat from North Dakota. The act is named for Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, a 22-year-old member of the Spirit Lake tribe who was eight months pregnant when she disappeared from her home in Fargo in August 2017. Her body was found a week later in the Red River. She had been murdered by neighbors who kidnapped her newborn.

Don't know whether there is a Continuance hearing on 9/18 as the last line says - 5/15/18 Continued to 9/18/18. But then they do have the Felon Jury Trial scheduled.

Remembering Savanna Greywind, one year after gruesome murder shocks the nation
We talked with neighbors in the apartment building, as well as in the area, who say it's been an unsettling 12 months. One woman even saying she was too scared to leave her home for weeks. But everyone tells us, they've moved on and they no longer want to think about what happened in the apartment where Savanna Greywind was murdered.

Even with the devastating anniversary of the loss of Savanna, there is still a celebration to be had.

Savanna's boyfriend of almost 7 years, Ashton Matheny, now has custody of baby Haisley Jo, who will be celebrating her first birthday this week.

"Every day I’m reminded of her more and more, because every day she grows and she's starting to look more like her mother. I miss Savanna so much, I've never put love into someone like I did her,” Matheny said .

He might have believed that Brooke was pregnant and he might not have known about Brooke's evil plan, but he absolutely helped cover up that crime, he disposed of evidence knowingly and I believe he disposed of the body, with or without help.

I do find it odd that he refused to answer when asked if there was anyone else involved, unless he is trying to create the illusion that there WERE others involved, but I don't see what purpose that serves him now.

PREVIEW: Trial of William Hoehn expected to unveil new evidence...

....
Crews will now serve her sentence of life without parole, plus another 20 years for conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

In deciding to plead guilty, her attorney argued that sealed to the painful details of Savanna's murder.
[.....]
She (Brooke) did not put this family through the hell of a trial, she did not put the state to their burden," said attorney Steven Mottinger.

William Hoehn, on the other hand, will spend his time next month in front of a jury, in front of Savanna's family and the community.

Evidence the public has never heard before will surface.

Attorneys say a huge amount of 'discovery material' has been collected in this case.

That's why this trial was pushed back not once, but twice.
[.....]
The trial is expected to be lengthy, it's scheduled to take two weeks.

If convicted on all three charges, Hoehn would spend the rest of his life in prison.

Hoehn's trial is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
