  • last seen walking away from his residence in Belcourt in Oct.
  • call sheriff’s office at 701-477-5623 or the Belcourt Police Department at 701-477-6134
Comments @ KFYRtv FB post and a FB search of his name will lead to more info about some checks and meds, a possible sighting at a Belcourt homeless shelter and that he sometimes goes to Bismarck. I hope they find him soon.

Welcome to Websleuths, @T392874! Ty for posting. Have you all considered working with a missing person advocate/organization who may be able to help with flyers, announcements, searches, media releases, fundraising, etc? Below are a few of links that will give you more information about getting more attention for missing person cases. I hope these help. Please keep us updated as you get any new information.

According to the news article I linked in the OP, Steve was last seen walking from his home. Have LE, family/friends, or SAR organizations searched the area? Has anyone contacted neighboring homes and businesses to check their security cameras and properties? What's happened so far in the way of finding Steve?

ETA - I contacted Joe Skurzewski @joeskurzewski · News Personality to request a follow-up report on Steve's case. Hopefully he can bring more attention to Steve's disappearance by interviewing family, friends, and LE.

We haven't worked with a missing person advocate/organization yet. But Thank you so much for the information here, it's hard to know where to go for additional help! The FBI has taken over the case in the last week or so, so we are praying that they are able to follow up on the leads that local LE was unable to investigate. Thank you for the response and for sharing this post to begin with. I am going to look into getting help publicizing that he is still missing!! Thank you!!!

@T392874 Have there been any new developments in Steve's case since the FBI has been involved?

I wonder where Steve was headed when he walked away from home? Who saw him leaving? I would imagine LE asked to check any cameras in neighboring homes and businesses?

Seven months missing with no new info or appeals by LE. :( Steve's son, A.L., is still looking for his dad. @T392874 has the FBI given any updates on the investigation into Steve's disappearance? Anything new?

Seeking the Missing FB group kindly created and shared a flyer for Steve. I hope it helps bring answers. TYVM!

You're very welcome.

Have any family members considered doing interviews with podcasters/Youtubers? From what I gather, podcasts are quickly becoming one of the best ways to spread the word about missing people. I'd highly encourage Steve's family/advocates to look into it as a way to advance his case. I suppose there would need to be more info than just "Steve left home walking". However, the interviewers usually are real good about digging into the missing person's background, lifestyle, habits, etc. to help add investigative elements to the case. It might be worth a shot. Hopefully other WS members will chime in with suggestions on their favorite podcasts or other ways to bring light to Steve's case. Please keep us posted of any new developments.

Who is our WSleuther who enters MP into the NamUs database? I'll ask @PommyMommy, @dotr, and @mlhenn if any of them can recall the member's name.

@YaYa_521 I don’t know how I missed your post; sorry!
Was Steven ever entered into Namus?
If not, I’m not exactly sure who our “Namus Guru” is here at Websleuths…but I did come across @Roselvr , whose profile includes “Ask me how to get your loved one into NamUs”
Hope this helps some! :)

Reward offered in disappearance, probable murder of man in northern North Dakota

BELCOURT, N.D. (KFGO) – The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the disappearance and likely murder of a man from northern North Dakota.

Steven Longie was last seen near his home in Belcourt on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in late October of last year. The FBI says it has investigative reasons to believe that a crime contributed to Longie’s disappearance and presumed death.

The reward is for information that leads to a conviction of the person or persons responsible.

I knew it!! I don't know why, but I've never believed he simply walked away. I hope the offer for a reward leads to the information LE needs to find Steve and bring his killer(s) to face justice. MOO I'm happy to see his case is finally getting some attention.

TY for the update, @lindamichelle1!
