Here is an exact quote from the press conference.

Reporter: Do they know how their son died?
Penas: I would think they have a bit of an understanding. Exactly? NO!

Do they want to know 'exactly'?

If there hadn't been an arrest, do you think Mark Lunsford should have been told 'exactly' how his daughter died?

Baffling. How can you not tell the dear parents how their son died? That just seems wrong to me. They no longer have their son. I know some details have to be kept under seal for the investigation. I think I would want to know if it was my child though. But maybe not. Maybe the details would be too horrific for my mind and heart to handle, and just saying he was murdered would be enough to digest at first.

Yes I'm conflicted on how I feel about this.

We know he was murdered though. And I guess the police must not need or want the public's help at this point to solve the case. Maybe still waiting on some test results or something. I don't know. Some cases it takes forever for an arrest, and others the arrest happens almost immediately. I guess it depends on how much concrete evidence the police can present to the DA to get charges.

I just want whoever was responsible for Thomas's death to be caught, and given a trial.

They said they're working with the FBI. I don't know how you can extrapolate from those statements that maybe they're not.

Just like you want to claim they're keeping the family in the dark when they have said, and the family has said, they keep in contact. Naturally, they're not going to tell the family (or anyone else) every single detail regarding the investigation even though you feel you're entitled to all the details in your list of questions .

Do you really think if you keep asking/demanding to know details of the investigation such as where TB's phone pinged from at 1:32am on the 20th, they're going to release that information?

The FBI is on the case but they don't have the file. Interesting. When I'm working on a project, you can bet I have the file. It sounds to me like the FBI has offered help but these people haven't taken them up on it. As we learned in the Sadek case, the FBI needs to be asked in. So.. I'm hoping they were able to get all of the file put together to give to the FBI by now since precious time is ticking away.

Furthermore.. I don't really expect all of the answers to these questions but we've gotten no new information since Sept 26, 2014. According to the police, they have no suspects, no motives and no POI. According to court records, they dropped the ball on the Snapchat info because they were pursuing other leads of which they've garnered no suspects, motives or POI's.

I went back and read the past threads on the case and you were very adamant this case would be solved immediately, Rocco. I guess you were wrong. Sometimes blindly trusting LE isn't the best course of action.

My allegiance here is to Tom Bearson. Not to LE. No way. Not after the Sadek case. This man deserves answers. Not for balls to be dropped because the red tape was too much to climb through by filing a warrant in a timely manner.

Thanks for going through all the previous threads to read my posts---I'm flattered. Yes, I thought the case would be solved quickly in the beginning but my opinion continued to change as time passed---you need to do some more reading. No one is blindly trusting LE, including me, so don't attempt to post my thoughts---post your own.

Your reply to my post has nothing to do with my post. :floorlaugh:

I thought this one would be solved fast. I was wrong too.
But I was way wrong on some other cases and now I am cynical at best.

I thought LE could do no wrong, but I was wrong about that too.
But who would I call for help? You got it, I would depend on them with everything I had in me.

The legal system? Justice?
I've seen a lot (not talking about CSI shows, lol) and I understand why LE cannot tell us the answers too all those questions that "we" need to know. Why not? Because "we" don't need to know it.
If there is an arrest/trial, we will know.

Otherwise the bad guys go free.

(BBM)

There is simply no way I can skip and scroll past this.

The 'Best course of action' is to stop assuming what someone else is thinking.

I CAN speak for Rocco, and I can tell anyone that he has never 'blindly trusted LE'. I'm not sure where you are getting this from, it's simply your own words.

As far as 'adamant this case would be solved immediately'???? Weren't we ALL??? Seriously, who in their right mind would want a case to drag out?

I'll bet dollars to donuts that a gun wielding robber in your house in the middle of the night would change your allegiance dramatically.

I remember my first thought was he overdosed on alcohol or drugs and his party mates panicked and disposed of his body. Lots of guesses, opinions, and theories since then, just like in any other case that goes on for months without resolution.

Do you have children?
Of course I would want to know and I think most parents would.

As a parent, yes I would absolutely want/need to know.

This doesn't even make sense. If a gun-wielding robber broke into MM's house, she'd change her allegiance in the Tom Bearson case? The two are not related. This isn't about MM's house getting broken into, this is about Tom Bearson's senseless murder. You speak out both sides of your mouth. On one hand you say to not assume what someone's thinking and then in the very next post, you try to assume what someone is thinking or what they would think in a hypothetical situation you imagined in your head.

I think it's pretty clear What IB is saying - it's not that hard to cypher out.

The implication by some on here is that LE are all fumbling idiots. But if there was an urgent and personal need for their services they would be relied upon to be the white knights. How ironic.

They make mistakes and have bad apples - but it's a shame to assume one or the other is happening just because you aren't getting the information YOU think YOU need.

Until you bring some facts to the table this is all just anti-establishment rhetoric/ranting/speculation. I'm sorry but that's how this appears.

I get it that some of you are colored by whatever happened in the Sadek case. I get that but IF the cops were bad there it's still a different jurisdiction....right? Does it make sense to carry that mistrust over to this case without better reasons?

Yes, I have children. And no, I would not want to know the grizzly details of my child's death. As a matter of fact, as interested as I am in cases, I wish I had never heard the details of Jessica Lunsford's death because as the details emerged, they became too horrific to imagine.

I wouldn't presume to speak for 'most parents' and neither should you.

We ask non prejudice and equal treatment of Law Enforcement and we should give the same in return.

A few questions for anyone who is in the Fargo or Sartell areas...what is the local feeling around this case? Does it seem like the case is still at the forefront of people's minds? Is there currently or was there ever a fear around campus with this homicide unsolved? Is there any chatter around town about any info that has not yet been reported? I'm not asking for rumors or anything like that, but I'm curious what the local perspective is since I am not in those areas myself. Thanks in advance.
