The Beulah Police Department is reporting that 18-year-old Tyler Schaefer is missing after last being seen walking by the Congregational Church in Beulah around 3 a.m. on May 1.

He reminds me of my son when he was that age. He's a nice looking guy and he has a happy look in the pic.
He was out at 3 a.m.? That worries me a bit, but he is 18 years old.
Hoping he will be home soon.

UPDATE May 2: The Beulah Police Department is holding a briefing today for emergency responders involved in the search. The department is asking that any public search efforts wait to start until after the police briefing. “Safety is paramount. Please stay vigilant in our search for Tyler,” the department notes on its Facebook page.

Here are a couple of additional details reported earlier today:

The reported 3am sighting was confirmed per video footage from the local Congregational Church.
He is not in possession of his cell phone & was on foot.
Last seen wearing khaki pants and a black t-shirt.


A bit troubling that he didn't have / take his cell phone with him...for most teens and even adults, having your cell phone is essential.

Oh gosh… praying hard but no cell doesn’t bode well for me.

Update: The Beulah Police Department has been utilizing our Federal, State and local resources to hopefully find and return Tyler to his family. Initially a briefing was scheduled for 1500. That has now been moved to 1700 hours. Presently we have all the reaources in place including specialize resources including air and K9. We are requesting citizens to please stay out of area temporarily while we use these resources. We will keep you informed on this platform. Chief Senn

Good Morning Beulah. We are starting Day 4 of our operations. We will be utilizing local, county and State resources today. I can’t express enough the incredible amount of support Team Tyler has received. I hope at some point We are able to thank everyone personally. All the support for the family and responders is greatly appreciated and very humbling. This is what makes Beulah so special. We will continue our efforts throughout the day. Chief Senn

Day 5 of our search for Tyler. We are still as motivated as we were on day 1. Please keep the tips coming. We have reached out to our Local, State and Federal partners for help. No tip will go unturned. I have had some ask if we have checked othet jurisdiction for Tyler. We have and will continue. TeamTyler is not just a slogan. It’s the driving force. Day 7. We will be utilizing some speciality services and assets to find and return Tyler to his family. There will be a noticeable presence of assets on the south side of Beulah. We are asking the public to be vigilant and check your surroundings ie yards,sheds,under decks We ask for you to look for things that appear out of place. We exhausted several tips yesterday and intend to investigate more today. Please keep them coming in. Without your help we can’t be as effective as we want to be. I pray for all the resources safety and diligence. Tyler we want you to know we will find you. Local news report indicating LE search is also focusing on the Knife River. It also notes TS was a senior graduating in less than a month and was looking forward to a military career.

Props to everyone helping to continue the search for this young man. Where did he go? This situation is so strange. What was he doing walking around at 3am with no phone or shoes? Where had he been? Does he live nearby? Where was he going? Did something happen recently that maybe sent him in to a depression? Or maybe he had been suffering for a while? There is very little information out there.
