I'm not saying Scott is innocent or guilty. I'm just going to say that alot of people are killed in domestic dispute cases. The only motive...anger.

There are a lot of people killed in domestic disputes - I completely agree and yes, ANGER would usually be the reason. Sometimes, jealousy too - With how much they were drinking that night, anger mixed with alcohol is impairing to ones judgement which could have lead to her death.

McDraw, do you have any other takes on it???

  • #102
Well I don't "know" who did it either but I can say that you are right on one of the things you said, Corrie's ex didn't do it, I know that first hand. I don't know Scott or the friend who took her home, or Scott's ex. I just can't wait until the truth finally comes out so that we can all hear the truth. I wouldn't be suprised if it were Scott, in fact I will be suprised if it is not Scott...But I guess we will just have to wait and see!!

  • #103
I will buy the friend not having anything to do with it. But an arguement, alcohol induced is MOTIVE in my opinon. People do stupid things while intoxicated, things they might never do sober. JMO!!! And I would LOVE to hear more about the ex, because it COULD be a possibility but nobody has any info on her. So, if we are all so motivated to clear Scott, let's hear the full story on the ex. I am all ears!!!

My questions remain:

Why would Scott call ER services if he had done something to Corrie (being a felon and knowing he could be a prime target). Could he be so dumb to think that he could have beaten upon her and that would not be noticed after the fact in autopsy? I suppose that is possible (in a really tweaked head, one that thought all people were really blind, but Scott DID say he was guilty of the felonies for which he was convicted, which does not indicate someone trying to blow things past people - how many incarcerated people ADMIT what they did), but I just don't quite get that impression of Scott. Whether Scott had or had not beaten upon Corrie, the situation seems that it would have driven a guilty man OR even an innocent man to run, but Scott did not run, he called for help. How does this fit in? Could Scott possibly be the kind that would think he would get away with something like this? Or is it possible that he was NOT going to abandon Corrie in her time of need, when something had happened to her, despite what it could cost him.

I would still like to know more about the circumstances for which Scott was incarcerated, perhaps this could enlighten us some. Was Scott pushed beyond sanity to do what he did to get incarcerated? Can this help us to understand this man, and that of which he may or may not be capable? Sure, we can all go berzerk in a domestic situation, but some people just pack and leave.

Where is the mother of Scott's child, what type of woman is she, where was she that night? Could she have been waiting to get back at a woman who her son was calling "mommy?" Or did she have a relative who was willing to take care of that for her?

Falling... Is there any chance that the blows to head and body were suffered by a fall? I know that a garage door coming down on someone's head can cause brain injury, and could cause a person to fall and take bruising (blows to the body). I'm not looking for excuses, I'm looking for the truth.

Another question... How experienced is the person who did the autopsy? Is this a "funeral director" or a "medical expert"? There was a case not long ago where it was obvious that the person who was doing the autopsy really didn't have much expertise.

Does anyone know if the rumor about Scott getting a DUI that night is true? What is the further information on this? Was he taken in and booked, then released, and when?

Hmmm, mmleikam, you wrote:
>>Say she was going to dissolve Acousti Construction. Everyone knows it's her and her parents money that made Acousti Construction what it is. So is she was going to dissolve it, perhaps that'd be motive to kill her. But right now, there hasn't been a motive that could place Scott there, so until there is one, I'm going to assume Scott is innocent.<<

Also, husband of mmleikam, you wrote:
>>I am mmleikam's husband, I know scott on a personal level and I also know the friend on a personal level. I knew Corrie when she was married to her ex. Scott didn't do it, an argument is not motive enough, the friend couldn't do it she is a talker not a fighter. The ex also couldn't of done it he isn't the type. all of you people need to find a new suspect. I have my own theory, I think Scott's ex should be looked at. She has the motive, I am struggling with the opportunity though.

First of all mmleikam and husband of mmleikam, I appreciate your input here and encourage you to continue to contribute. I would let you know that as a long time member of WS that it is sometimes far too easy to get offended in here at times, but many of us old timers try not to do so and just look at the facts, working through them. That could be very hard for the two of you who certainly have some personal emotional/mental involvement/investment in both Corrie and Scott and others who you know who are being looked at. A small and gentle reminder to try not to "wear your feelings on your shirtsleeve," as my mom used to say, and I know it is not so easy to avoid. It is helpful just to look at things rationally.

Either this was an accident OR someone is guilty of murder. If it was murder (intentional or not), someone is guilty, whether we want to believe it of them or not. But WHO? (if not an accident?)

As per motive, I think that I have learned that it is not important to prove motive in a murder case. If Corrie was murdered, and I await the results of the autopsy to make that a bit more clear whether the autopsy shows that she was (instead of an accident of some sort), motive is not necessary to prove, I don't think -- though it can be helpful in convicting someone.

mmleikam, you wrote:
>>there hasn't been a motive that could place Scott there<<

Scott WAS there (alongside Corrie when she was dead or dying), "he" called for help, he doesn't need to be "placed" there, he WAS there. Motive doesn't have to put him there, he WAS there.

BTW, is there anyway that we can get an audio of the 911 call or the call for help? This "might" help us if we could get this. Perhaps the local paper could get a copy of this and put it online.

Motive... going to his home, being there and full of emotions, having had too much to drink perhaps and being out of control, being there and filled with anger for whatever reason, any of the latter could play in to motive, but let's forget motive for the moment. SCOTT was there, so he had the opportunity... Those who care for and defend Scott may not like this, but he did have the opportunity to take Corrie's life. But did he do something to take her life or did he arrive after an accident or someone else injured her?

Did Scott make some major enemies within the last year or so? How about Corrie, working alongside Scott? Did anything go wrong in that Acousti business lately?

And, BTW, mmleikam, I don't think that any of us knew that it was Corrie and her parent's money who are said to have made the Acousti business what it was until you mentioned it. Thanks for that mention... And upon whose toes might the Acousti business have stepped in the last year, anyone's?

Husband of mmleikam, thanks for stepping in. In murder cases, alibis are important, and typically those who know injuries and how they progress toward death can often pinpoint when those injuries might have been received. So, despite whether we want to think that Scott, or the girlfriend who drove Corrie home, or Corrie's ex might have hurt her, do we have an alibi for where these people were from X-Y time? It would be very good if alibis could clear all of these people, but I don't know if this is possible, because I don't know Corrie's injuries, nor when they were thought to have been received, nor where these people were during the time she left the bar (where many saw her) and the time that Scott found her and felt to call for help.

If Corrie's death was caused by someone, we ALL want to see justice for Corrie, her family and friends. If Corrie was injured in an accident or by happenstance, I know we all want that resolved with no mystery lingering.

I really can't say whether Scott is guilty or not. I know he should be looked at/treated like a suspect. He lived with her and he found her. We know they had an argument. He wanted her to get her stuff out and leave. All of this isn't looking good for Scott. That's all circumstantial, hopefully if he is innocent, there will be proof. I have often heard that Courage sometimes comes from a bottle. I believe you are right anger, jealousy, and alcohol don't mix and could have lead to her death. There could be others that had a motive but how many had the opportunity?

This has been bothering me so i hope that someone who logs on this site can help me understand. Right off the start when Corrie was found it should have been suspicious. How often is it that a rather healthy 28 year old is found dead in her home. To me the responders to the scene, EMT's and Police should have seen some red flags right away. Because it wasnt handled as suspicious vital evidence im sure was lost do to the fact that the scene was released. I dont blame Scott or anyone who went ahead and started cleaning things up. I dont know if Scott was even involved in this but if law enforcement ok'd and released the scene I feel that its their fault not the ones who were trying to help out. That has been brought up several times and i just was wondering if Corrie was in as bad of shape as ive been hearing why on Earth wasnt it noticed before it was? Ok so there hasnt been a crime like this in 22 years, but come on common sense has been around forever...Unfortunately we may never know what happened that night, but i pray for all involved that someone will come forward and help piece together what happened. Everyone needs closeure. Its part of the grieving process.

I sit here and shake my head....

How is it that NOBODY has any clue as to who Scott's child's mother is???
Is this not a small town? Has he always lived here?? And since she is conviently MIA, do we even know if she is alive??? I hate to speculate but this is a unsolved murder case...

Wrinkles, I totally understand why you would typically think Scott would have run VS stayed and called 911 -- but think about it, it isn't untypical of people to commit murder and call 911 -- I would have to go digging around google but I am certain I have read many cases of the like. If he did run, that is a COMPLETE admission of guilt. Being that he was in the slammer prior, he might have learned a thing or two. Calling 911 would make him less a suspect versus running. JMO. Admitting he was guilty in prison, could have helped him with an early release etc etc.. His charges were not murder. I believe they were Terroistic Threats or something along those lines.

I wanted to point out she was pronounced dead around 10:30am - Does anyone know exactly when the friend dropped her off??

This is Scotts Entry about the education in prison.

This is from Scott Petro, another inmate serving time where Charley is.

Let's see, what do I see wrong with the Nebraska State Pen? First let me introduce myself. My name is Scott Petro #56799 at the Nebraska State Pen, currently serving a 2-4 year sentence for Terroristic Threats and Theft by Deception. I'm 32 years old and this is my first, and hopefully last, prison sentence.

One of the main things that really bothers me is the lack of education. That department has been slashed down to just providing GED classes, ESL (English for a second language) and a couple of select college courses that only allow 5 inmates per class. Now on the other hand, NSP spends a small fortune on our worthless Mental Health program. I am in Session 0 of Level 2, and find it quite amazing that the Parole Board made this one of my parole requirements. There are 4 levels, each having 12 sessions, they each run 6 weeks, meeting twice each week. You really mean to tell me that they are gonna change 32 years of behavior in that short amount of time? Let's see, at 2 hours a week, 4-6 week sessions, I come up with 48 hours!! Have you stopped laughing yet?

This is just one example of many things here that should be changed. I know they are not ever going to change anything, so that's why I've made changes within myself to help me keep from returning. I am GUILTY of what I've been sentenced on, yet there still should be some options, for people like me who really are changing, at least with education. They can never take away what I have learned.

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!
Merry Christmas
Scott Petro 56799

Want to find out who Wyatts mother is... its on his birth certificate, and I am sure he was born in the state of NE. Can't be that hard to get.

  • #111
I got to reading and something else is bothering me... I don't know if it has ever been metioned that Scott and Corrie were moving. She had been in fact painting the house they were moving into a few days prior to her murder. This is what I can't clear up for Scott... IF he says that he passed out at the "new" house (and that is a true fact) why would he have even went there knowing they had not moved their bed. Also, I am sure that he didn't go there looking for her, what would she be doing after being at the bar late at night??? Painting?

RBD,

Thanks, I am on this one -- took it into my own hands. Should have an answer in 24 hours or less! Thanks!

No, this has not been mentioned here or on Steve Huff's site that I can recall. Why were they moving? Did they rent their current house or own it? Were they going to rent or own the new house? BTW, has it been confirmed that he passed out at the new house?? You mention this to be fact.

Last, even if Scott did not in fact sleep in his home. He still had plenty of time to come home early morning, still angry and rough up Corrie considering he didn't call 911 until later that morning. Thoughts????

I am not sure if they owned or rented the current house, I am pretty sure they rented. The new house however I DO know that they were renting at first, but then going to try to buy. It was hung up in some estate, so it was not able to be sold... but sounded like the intentions were to rent and then purchase. That is why I stated "IF". I don't like all the rumors any better than the next person, but I heard that from a pretty reliable source.

I have some potential names and scenarios of the child's mother - However, I don't want to post them just yet.

I do want to ask if anyone knew if Scott had any connections to Florida???

I have a new theory I am working on here...

I have substancial evidence that the "Ex" did not have his name on the company they "owned" together. Someone mentioned this earlier on the site and I looked into it. If the claims of them being in a fight and her moving out were/are true - right there is a motive to make him angry enough to kill her. From what I have gathered - "Ex" does not have any assets and if Corrie would have walked - then he would not have kept any interest in their company. She could have told him numerous things to anger him, she could have held the company over his head etc.. She could have threatend to leave him and he told her to get out; while angry, but later changing his mind when he went back to the home; only to find her sleeping and packed or still ready to leave him. I would love to hear what exactly was the condition of the scene of the crime???

I also find an interesting quote someone made on Steve Huff's site:

"And in this whole matter i have barely heard anybody mention wyatt who finally had a mommy and i know that she thought of him as her own and loved him just the same"

Finally had a mommy??? The missing Mommy - still a mystery!!

Ok so in an earlier post i read that Scott had passed out in the house. I had been told that he went to sleep in the couple's camper. Does anyone have confirmation on where exactly Scott woke up. I also heard that he had received a DUI that evening, well if this was in fact the case then Scott should not even be a suspect. In my neck of the woods when a person is arrested for DUI they spend the night in jail. So if there is any comfirmation on this please lets find out..that way we can eliminate one suspect. Any information on how long Corrie had been with the "friend" who took her home. Was she just with her that evening or all day or what? If Corrie was indeed celebrating her birthday had they been celebrating all day? Im just trying to put things together. Fridays people usually work so was Scott working while Corrie started celebrating early or what? Did Corrie go to the Cactus Bar in Venango with Scott or with the "friend" Any answers to these questions?

  • #119
If he would have recieved a DUI normally they only hold you for 8 hours or until you are under the limit. By NE state law you have to have everyone out of the bar by 1:30... drinks picked up by 1:15... If he left the bar and its around 18 miles from Venago to Grant and he did in fact get a DUI... they would have processed him and he would have been out by around 10 or 10:30 the next morning... I don't think he got a DUI... I think thats a rumor.

  • #120
Actually, if he did get a DUI wouldn't it be posted in a newspapers blotter section???? Probably, is a rumor then.
