[h=1]Phelps County Sheriff’s Office investigating after human remains found in cornfield near Funk[/h]

FUNK — The remains of an adult female were recently found in a cornfield in rural Phelps County.


According to a Phelps County Attorney’s Office press release, Phelps County Sheriff Gene Samuelson located the remains of the woman near 739 and R Roads northwest of Funk. Samuelson responded to a Tuesday report that a body was in a cornfield.

Identification of the remains is pending.

The body of a woman found in a cornfield north of Funk earlier this month has been identified.

According to a Phelps County Attorney’s Office press release sent today, the woman was identified as Cynthia Lammers, 51, of Kearney.

Investigators say Lammers was the victim of a homicide but they’ve provided no further details. No arrests have been made.

A final autopsy report has not been released.
