Found Safe NE - Jadey Jenkins, 30, car abandoned on I-80 near Omaha, 8 Jul 2020

Welcome!! I'm in the UK and can't open that link due to EU regs, apparently. Would you mind posting the extra info bits for me please?

York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka explained that his office received a call from a Henderson man that a car was parked along Interstate 80 Wednesday morning (1 ½ miles west of the Bradshaw exit) and there was possibly a person sitting alongside the vehicle.

When a deputy arrived to check out the vehicle, he found it abandoned, Sheriff Vrbka said. There was no one there.

Inside the vehicle, the deputy found the belongings of the car’s driver, Jadey Jenkins, 30, of Omaha. That included her cell phone, wallet, credit cards and shoes, the sheriff said. The keys were also in the vehicle.

Then on Thursday, the sheriff’s department received a call from a local farmer who said he saw a person, on foot, approximately ½ mile north of the Bradshaw exit on Road H. Sheriff Vrbka said that when the farmer called out to the person, the person ran into the cornfield.

The sheriff said the farmer saw the person at a distance and cannot confirm whether or not it was a woman or a man.

“Her fiancé drove here to speak with us and it’s been determined that no one has seen her since. And she has not been in contact with any of her friends of family,” the sheriff said further.

The sheriff’s department has been assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol in the search. Troopers with an airplane searched the area using infrared technology and a drone was deployed as well. Canine units were deployed.

“The troopers, who were in the air, were able to detect the presence of the deputies and the dogs on the ground, but no one else,” Sheriff Vrbka said.

He said deputies have been searching that entire region of the county, going to farmsteads and through buildings, as well as talking to all those live in that area.

“All the farmers have been on the lookout for her, we have been searching for days,” Sheriff Vrbka said. “On Saturday, I walked the creek bottom in that area with volunteers on Saturday, from about 2-6:30 p.m., and we found nothing. Then a group of people from York went out there and helped deputies search on foot. Then we went back out Sunday morning, with a large group of people numbering about 30, and walked the area from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., when it got so hot and one of the volunteers felt ill. The fire department in York had a group of volunteers come out and search on foot as well. We found nothing tangible, not even any tracks except deer tracks. If we had found anything tangible, we would have kept searching, but we just haven’t found anything.

“There are so many unknowns in this situation,” Lt. Vrbka continued. “There is also the issue that on Friday, at 7:30 a.m., there was a report of a hitchhiker on Highway 34 in the area of Road I. The hitchhiker was a man. So then we wondered if that was the person the farmer saw run into the cornfield. We just don’t know.”

“We have talked to a lot of people in the area, but we just are coming up with nothing,” Sheriff Vrbka said. “If anyone gave this woman a ride, or saw her, or talked to her, or know anything about this situation, we are asking that you call us immediately. The question is this – what happened to the person who had been driving that vehicle on Interstate 80, between 11 a.m. and noon, on Wednesday?

We just don’t know what happened to her.”

Hello SandFam,
Welcome to Websleuths.

Just a question.
Is I-80 pretty consistently busy with traffic along that stretch of interstate?
Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been here since Lucas Hernandez, but have never had reason to post. Everyone already posts whatever I'm thinking!

I-80 is pretty busy all along the state. It's a major drug route, sex trafficking route, etc.

I will say that, contrary to the reports, the location of the car was not what locals would call "near Omaha." It was found almost 90 minutes from Omaha, near the exit to Bradshaw, which is much closer to the center of the state.

About the dogs -- I don't know how much I can say because I've only read it in a FB post and can't verify anywhere else. The same post with info about the dogs also has info about any potential searches. If someone says I can share what I've read, I will!

Maybe she stopped so the dogs could take a break/water/toilet and one ran off so she chased it.....(one was found out of the vehicle) no shoes because no time, driving barefoot maybe? Is that a thing?

she ran in the field ,as seen.... then I don’t know. Got into trouble somehow

I’ve been known to kick off my high heels while driving. I don’t always have a comfy pair in the car and I’m always annoyed with myself for forgetting. I wonder how she was dressed and if she might have had uncomfortable shoes on?
JMO.

Just caught this thread. Another bizarre one! I’ve definitely driven barefoot in the summer, and I’ve had to chase one of my dogs barefoot through deep snow so I can see the scenario of stopping to let the dogs do their business and one running off. I would certainly chase mine without bothering to grab my shoes if at all possible.

But then what? They found tracks. I wish we knew if the “missing” dog that was later found was near where her tracks were?

UPDATE AT 12:30PM FRIDAY JULY 10TH.
Just spoke with the York County sheriffs deputy. Jadey's car was found abandoned just west of the Bradshaw Exit on Intertate 80. The deputy stated that they have been searching the field area between Rd 10 and Rd 11 and between Rd H and Rd I with a drone and helicopter. They have found tracks that go in a north to north easterly direction. Tracks were lost on Road 11 and are unsure if she continued walking on the road of if someone may have picked her up. Those of you especially in the Bradshaw Nebraska area keep a keen eye out. Once again, to report anything PLEASE call the York County Sheriffs Office at 402-362-4927.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY WE NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE SHARE.
This is Jadey Jenkins she is 30 years old and the sister of a very close family/friend. She went missing yesterday (7-9-2020) near York Nebraska. She left Omaha Nebraska at approximately 9am and her vehicle was found abandoned near York Nebraska with one dog inside. Her other dog was found at a later time. If you see her or know any information please contact the York County Sheriffs Department at 402-362-4927. ANY help will be greatly appreciated.

When I looked on google maps there was a bridge over a busy road. If she was having some sort of episode I’m hoping to god she’s not jumped and landed on a lorry of some sort ( it’s early hours here, mind is in overdrive)
I have another thought too but that ties in with what I’ve read elsewhere and not allowed here

she’s not going to be surviving well with no food/water/cash unless she’s being looked after in some way

Would she have walked barefoot to walk the one dog (that was found)? And where exactly was the dog found? How far from her car? One dog left in the car makes me think she took one out to use the bathroom and something nefarious happened to her. But what? Another one that’s very puzzling. Apologize for any repeat ?’s. MOO

Did anyone pick up info on dogs before today ? I've been trying to check this thread but seems I missed that. And find it very worriesom !! MOO

Her sister has put up a missing FB page about Jadey. To ease minds on the animals, it seems from comments the dogs are ok and back with the fiancé. Tough to figure out though, why one was left in the car and the other was found who knows how far away.

Missing woman confirmed alive, but not in custody

Edited to add: McCool Junction is about 15 miles south of York, and about 20-25 miles or so from where the car was found.

Edited again: Looked at a map, and the specific location mentioned in the article (between Road 4 and 5 on Road I) is approximately 6-7 miles from where the car was. So she hasn't traveled far.

I just came to post this update. I’m about 50 miles east of York/McCool. My husbands family lives/farms probably 1/2 mile from where she was probably seen earlier. Such an odd case. I’m hoping they can get the infrared/heat seeking equipment out tonight and try to locate her. The corn is tall enough now that it would be next to impossible to randomly find her in a field.

Whoa! What the heck has she been eating, where has she been sleeping? And shoeless?

How are they certain it was her?
