Pin is Jason’s home and the yellow route is the route took on the YouTube video.
The most common route people mention, I have highlighted in red.

Too my knowledge there is no known sighting that can pin him to any certain route, which is what makes this case the most baffling I have ever heard. Just disappears into thin air.

I wonder if any of his old school mates still think about him and wonder.

i think there's a statement from the brother about which direction he started off walking, though that would only tell you the first block or so, if that. don't know if we know where on the high school grounds the coworker was going to pick him up, but knowing that might help narrow the route he would be expected to take.

of course, whether he took detours along the way, voluntarily went somewhere else, or was picked up or kidnapped by someone are all open questions.

we do know for sure that he didn't make it to the school. that's confirmed by school security footage. depending on how many cameras there were, where they were pointed, and what lines of sight they had, one might even be able to rule out jason reaching anywhere within a block or two of the school.

it is the most baffling case i know of. he almost literally disappears into thin air. in a relatively small area of a suburban neighborhood, in broad daylight.

Yeah, agree with what everyone's pointed out. :( Jason was known to be exceptionally kind and helpful and sweet, I definitely think someone took advantage of that and lured him into either their home or car under the guise of needing help. The police should've taken it seriously way sooner, ten days is more than enough time for the perp to clear their tracks. Poor Jason.

it's also long enough that people who had seen something barely notable might not remember it. also, people with security camera footage might have recorded over it.

hell, if the police had started immediately, and canvassed the neighborhood, they might have been able to get enough recollections from enough people that, even if no one remembered seeing him, they could constrain his possible paths and timings. "oh yeah, i went for a walk on such and such street at such and such time yesterday. didn't see anyone." "that's when i was mowing my lawn. no one walked by." etc. but starting 10 days later, whatever witness statements police have are going to be hazy and stuff will have been lost.

I don't believe we've ever heard a firsthand account from the brother as to what happened that morning. Everything I recall was secondhand through his parents, who weren't there. So if you have a link to an interview or news article with Jason's brother, could you please post it? I searched everywhere for one.

Exactly, I believe that the person who saw which direction Jason went was a neighbor.

It is tragic that Jason’s brother has had to deal with people holding a joking phone call over his head for decades,he was only 13 years old. We need to stop scrutinizing a child's reaction and start looking at the reality of that morning. I’m stepping back from the far-fetched theories and movie-plot scenarios that seem to dominate this discussion."

i believe you over myself. i don't know whether anything the brother said was 1st or 2nd hand, etc.

I dont think anyone actually saw Jason going a certain direction. The neighbor saw Jason pulling the trash bins from the driveway. I think "walking towards the high school" is implied because that's where Jason was going.

I have attached a discussion from Jason's mother in 2006 discussing the last known sightings by the neighbor. No one saw Jason take a step outside the driveway. I am not suggesting anything, just giving my two cents.

I'm of the opinion that he met a freak accident on his walk. Whether it was falling into a manhole, falling into some hole in a natural area near his route (maybe stopping to use bathroom), or even something at the high school. While tall he had a skinny build and bodies have been missed before in other cases.

Somehow those options feel more likely to me than a crime of opportunity on a large adult man who had a place to be (so difficult to lure) in a very limited period of time.

I have seen some comments by old schoolmates over the years online, and they all speak warmly about Jason. :) As for the route, I think it was the red route he had followed when attending Benson HS so I think that is the route he would've taken when he disappeared. But differing by walking to the back of the school

On the whole, yes, there have been some far-fetched theories discussed on this forum. But longtimers have not entertained those for long and newcomers soon realize after catching up to speed that there are really only a few rational theories that fit. It is a frustrating case.

As far as I recall, we don't know which direction Jason headed towards, right? Whether he went straight down Bedford Ave or turned left off N 48th St. If he took the latter, he may have gone to the Holy Name Church. It wouldn't have taken him long. It's not en route to the school, but someone might have agreed to meet him there and give him a ride to the pickup. If Bedford Ave, then we can rule that out, as it's going too far out of his way to visit the church.
