Student to student beef and one brings a gun to school to settle the score? Hopefully I read that correctly.

The last mass shooting in Nebraska was in June.

"the shooting was an isolated incident between two students."

IMO But it was a shooting inside a school. The intent may be isolated to one person, but the violence and fear is experienced by everyone in that building. Plus parents. Plus first responders.

Another traumatized community.

This is not a mass shooting.

You are right, it looks like a single 15 year old kid was brought to the hospital this time.
Mass shootings count physical injuries only.

You are right, PrairieWind. I understand your point.

IMHO I understand school shootings affect everyone in the building, emotionally and psychologically, even if they don't physically catch a bullet. IMHO any school shooting feels like a mass casualty event to me.

A school shooting eliminates Maslow's Heirarchy of anyone feeling safe in school.

I believe the shooter is in custody from what I read.

So everyone was stuck on lockdown for an hour while they searched for the shooter?

Terrifying.

Again, I wonder how the kid got the gun. Whatever kind it was.

I understand what you are saying.
Omaha, and especially this area, has seen a LOT of gang violence over the last decade or so. I don't know this is gang related, but I'm just saying that violence is not uncommon there. So I do wonder what security was in place and why it didn't work today.

This school appears to be in a middle-class neighborhood. Like I've said before and unfortunately will again, there was a shooting at my junior high in Des Moines in 1972, and I never knew about it until I saw people discussing it on that school's Facebook page even though I went there just a few years later! Nobody was shot, but some bullets were fired into a wall and several kids had minor injuries from jumping out a first floor window.

Since it was targeted and a one-on-one thing, I just hope there was nothing going on that might have led to it being seen as justified on ANY level ("victim" raped the shooter's sister, nonstop bullying, death threats, etc.). I was told that this was definitely the case in the 1972 situation.
