She was on the original list investigators were ruling out, so she couldn't be ignored, despite how unlikely it was.

'This is our only hope': Family of girl who disappeared on Platte River plans another search

Taries Price was last seen about half a mile to three-fourths of a mile downstream from Schramm Park State Recreation Area on June 11.

Taries was on a sandbar with her 11- and 12-year-old cousins when she was swept away.

Shortly after she disappeared, an extensive search began. Multiple agencies, a dive team, two helicopters, cadaver dogs, and volunteers in airboats and kayaks and on foot converged on the river in hopes that the little girl would be found alive.

The day after Taries went missing, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Svoboda announced that it was unlikely that Taries had survived, given the heat and the amount of time she had been missing.

Weekend search planned for 8-year-old girl swept away by Platte River last summer

JULY 2021

The family of a girl who disappeared on the Platte River more than a year ago is seeking volunteers for a planned search over the weekend.

Latressa and Teablo Price have spent countless hours on the Platte River searching for their daughter.

Taries was 8 years old when she was swept away on the Platte River on June 11, 2020.

Her parents will be joined by the search and rescue nonprofit Justice Takes Flight for the search effort scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers willing to assist with the search can meet at Schramm Park at 9 a.m. Latressa asks that life jackets be worn by anyone searching on the river. The group is also seeking volunteers with airboats and walkie-talkies.

Additional information on the recovery effort can be found on Facebook at fb.me/e/1vR7ORDP2.

We’re almost 400 days without her.

June 10, 2022

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It started as a family outing but ended as any parent's worst nightmare. Eight-year-old Taries Price went missing in 2020 after playing near the waters of the Platte River at the Schramm State Park. Her story is one her family doesn’t want the community to forget.

For the past two years, Latressa Price has been searching for her missing piece.

"We’ve missed birthdays, Christmas, and many other holidays," Latressa said. "It’s just the missing piece to our puzzle."

That missing piece is her daughter Taries who went missing after playing on a sandbar with other kids along the Platte River at Schramm State Park.

Her disappearance launched multiple search efforts with the help of local law enforcement, volunteers and nonprofit groups, but despite the community's efforts, Taries was never found.

Latressa wants people to remember who her daughter is, she said Taries loves to sing, dance and help others. Price said her daughter one day hopes to become a teacher.

These memories are what Latressa is holding onto now. At the same time, she remains hopeful that answers to her daughter’s disappearance are still out there.

"I will just cherish every moment," Latressa said. "And… still waiting."
