I made my translation exercise much more difficult than I needed to. I should have looked at the source text.

the person who posted used the word "paragar" which is not really a word. So somehow the translation function used the word stop.

Maybe the equivalent of our "paragraph" .. i.e. "paragar" and/or "stop" means end of paragraph.

potentially very relevant to this case.

As I look back on the news stories, they seem to state that Vanderlei was renovating a former high school into a church ministry for that Florida congregation.

According to this document, Vanderlei had a deal with the City of Omaha, where he was supposed to renovate a building to create seven low to moderate income housing units. The document is long and a dry legal document with piles of attachments, but from what I was able to glean from this was that Vanderlei was lent $80,700 from the City pursuant to the terms of this loan agreement:

Under section 2.03.1 it looks like the work was to be completed by January 31, 2010. (I don't suppose he did any work after he disappeared).

I did not notice any reference to the City financed project in the American news although some of the Brazilian media mentioned city contracts.

I wonder how much, if any, work was performed on the low income housing. I wonder when the city paid out the $80,700. The Szczepaniks were supposed to put up more than 50% of the financing. I wonder where that cash went.

In this article I had in post #90, they did mention the grant money.

http://www.wowt.com/news/headlines/88267352.html

The city is foreclosing. Still no mention of what happened to the money the city put out. While a foreclosure causes the owner to lose the property, if they had borrowed the max and cashed out, they don't lose much if anything.

Missing family's affairs in limbo
By Cindy Gonzalez
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

It's been more than 100 days since three members of an Omaha family vanished, and a relative is being told by local police to expect the worst.

Meanwhile, she is struggling with how to handle the family's business affairs.

webrocket:
Thanks for this.
I shared the article on FB.

It is surprising to me that there isn't a bigger hue and cry about
this missing family.
But I have noticed that some missing person cases seem to
catch on with sleuthers and others, for whatever reason, do not.

I can't explain it totally. In terms of LE, I suspect that the Szczepaniks probably associated mostly with other Brazilians and there is no discussion of where they are now. I assume LE knows who they are even if they do not know of any involvement.

If they are not cooperating and LE finds no evidence then there is not much they can do.

As for sleuthers, there is definitely a bias for white children and white women who disappear. I surmise that the sleuthers here are peredominately white and probably mostly female so they latch on to the cases they can identify with the most.

Arrest in case of missing family
By Jason Kuiper
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the Brazilian family that disappeared in December.

Ricardo Gonzalez-Mendez, of 524 Park Ave., on Wednesday was charged with felony criminal impersonation for giving false information to police.

Gonzalez-Mendez gave a false name when police contacted him during their investigation into the missing family, Omaha Police Sgt. Teresa Negron said.

If LE puts some heat on this guy they arrested, he might shed some light on what he knows about his former employer.

While this guy is an illegal, if he is a witness to something, I think federal law would allow him to remain here until any court proceedings are over with.

I got excited when I saw a post update for the Vandelei's.
Hoping that they had been found.

Not found, of course.
But, at least there is some movement in the case.
Maybe the man arrested has some knowledge...as webrocket said.

The below article says Homicide detectives are working the case.

Police said the three people, who did work for the family, have been accused of using the family's accounts. More than $4,000 was used for food and clothing items, police said.

Jose C. Oliveria-Coutinho, 35, Elias Lourenco-Batista, 29, and Valdeir Gonclaves-Santos, 30, have been charged with unlawful use of a financial transaction device over $1,500.

"We are extremely concerned about the family’s well-being due to these circumstances that have evolved during this investigation," said Lt. Darci Tierney in a news release.

Fellow Brazilians.

I figured that was the case very early on.

I only hope they talk about what happened.

My take on the google translation:

Jacqueline called a lot, she was lonely, talked a lot, but was lonely. Olive lived at one time at home with her. Olive was a threat to them. I wanted to warn Jackqueline about Olive but Jacqueline had disappeared.

and
Nathalia knows that Carlos Oliveira is the head of everything. A pity we did not know in time to do something, because we knew when it was too late. But Carlos Oliveira Vardinho has a stop (do not know what stop means)
and he read what they did.
Jacqueline called a lot, lonely, talked a lot. Olive lived at one time at home with her. Olive was a thread to them. I wanted to warn Jacqueline about Olive but Jacqueline had disappeared.

webrocket: Is that your take on this?:

Vardinho? Is that part of his name?
Do you know what the stop means? Could it be a bug or he read their email or correspondence?
la.ecu.ccom do you know what that means? I do not.
tb olive? I don't.

So, basically:
Posters in Brazil believe that Carlos V had a hand in their disappearance.
He used to live with Jacqueline.

looks like the chatter that came from Brazil was right on the money all along.
