Wow! Cannot believe they haven't been able to make an arrest in this case yet!

Thanks Bluesky!

From the article you posted:

“They say they just want to make sure they don’t do anything wrong, dot their ‘I’s,’ cross their ‘T’s,’ but they do have suspects,” said Jeff Truelove.

Very happy to hear, I was really worried that this one was going to fall by the wayside. Hoping for an arrest soon!

FATHER SAYS POLICE HAVE SUPSECTS IN HANNAH TRUELOVE MURDER

<snipped>

Jeff Truelove, Hannah's father, said "Hannah was a good girl who ”never did drugs or alcohol.”

He also said she had lived with him until about a month before her death, when she moved in with her mother.

Read more at: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/...suspects-in-hannah-truelove-murder/index.html

I wonder why Hannah moved in with her mother a month prior to her death after living with her dad? It sounds like Hannah had a better relationship with her dad, but that could just be JT's bias. Maybe it was a joint custody situation in which she lived a few months/ during the summer with one parent and then moved back in with the other parent. MOO

I do hope there is an arrest soon. Makes me think this was something personal; not random. Otherwise, LE would find a reason to lock up the perp(s) before filing charges related to Hannah's death if they felt the perps posed a further threat to the community. And JT does say suspects - plural. I have a feeling this is a pair or group of teenagers whom Hannah knew at least remotely. Again, :moo:

Hannah loved animals and wanted to become a veterinarian. She had 2 cats and a dog named Jake.

Mr. Truelove told Nancy Grace he was upset because LE didn’t search the area around the complex with a dog but Mrs.T didn’t tell the 911 operator or her husband her daughter was being stalked and wanted to move out of the complex so LE had no reason to suspect foul play early on in the investigation.

Did Hannah’s mother know about the tweets and withhold this information? Mr.T told
Ms. Grace his daughter did not show signs of being frightened when he took her on a shopping trip last week but she likely felt safe and secure when she was with her father. Hannah was their only child so Hannah was likely daddy’s little girl whom he loves with all his heart.

Mr.T thinks LE should have searched around the complex with a dog right after her mother reported her missing so it looks like LE waited until Hannah’s parents didn’t hear from their daughter during the night to begin their search. Investigators searched the dumpsters at the complex where Hannah was murdered on Friday, but of course they came up empty-handed.

Ellie Jostad told Nancy Grace when asked why Hannah wanted to move out of the apartment complex and didn’t want to ride the school bus that “We don`t have any answers to those, But Nancy, it`s important -- the sheriff`s department says they do not want to solely focus on that angle. It`s, of course, something that they`re looking into.”

“But you know -- and I should point out, too, these tweets are broken up with sort of mundane things that teenagers tweet about. It`s not something that she was solely tweeting, you know, I`m scared, someone`s after me. They say they are looking into this, but they don`t know if she was using that term casually the way a teenager might, or the way we would use it on the show, the way lawyers that know about stalking laws would use that term.”

The tenants’ cars are parked at the front of the apartment complex and neighbors at the apartments saw Hannah sitting at the picnic tables around 4 pm Thursday, which would have been after HT arrived home from school. Others said she was there as late as 7:30 pm. If Hannah was sitting at the picnic table around 7:30 pm, she would have seen her mother arrive home, yet Mrs. T didn’t tell her husband she saw Hannah and she ran away. Mrs. T told the 911 operator she didn’t see her daughter that day, she only talked to her through the door before she left for work at 7 am but is she telling the truth? Neighbors must have seen Mrs. T arrive home from work or at least noticed when she parked in front of the apartments Thursday evening. Maybe Hannah took off when she saw her mother’s car coming and her mother never saw her? Her father said she wouldn’t run away just because she was upset with her mother.

After Mrs.T notified Mr.T, he was very concerned that something was going on, so from that point on he called back every hour or so, and his wife blew him off. “She kept telling me, I`ll call you when they find her -- when they find her. I`m sure she`s just with somebody, one of her friends, don’t worry.” Why wouldn’t Mrs. T say to her husband, “I’ll call you when she comes home” or “I’ll call you when I hear from her?”

If Hannah was afraid to live at the complex, why wouldn’t she have her dog Jake outside with her for protection? It doesn’t make sense that she would leave her beloved dog inside the apartment and go sit outside alone. I think if Jake had been let outside late Thursday evening, he might have picked up her scent and located her in the woods; so maybe Mrs. T kept Jake tied up outside or inside the apartment until Hannah’s body was found?

She wasn't an only child. She had a sister and a brother.

Why wouldn't a 16 yr old know the code to the gates in her gated complex? Did her mother keep them a secret from her? And why wouldn't a 16 yr old have her own apt. key? And why didn't she have a cell?

Because someone living at the complex would have a clicker or a key card to get through the gates. Any visitors could be "buzzed" in by a phone connected to the call box.

Last thing: On Aug 11 on her Twitter, she said she couldn't stand her father.

Newbie here, sorry for bumping an old thread. Just trying to shed some new light on a case that has faded quickly.

:seeya: Hi, Chowdahead. Welcome to Websleuths!

Curious as to what you mean by someone at the apt complex trying to pad the ratings? Someone posting a lot of positive reviews on a certain website?

Have many of the tenants moved out since Hannah's murder? Are there a lot of vacant apartments that can't be rented?

Thank you!

Thanks! Yes, on the apartmentratings website, there was a sudden influx of positive reviews. I believe the link was posted a couple of pages back and the complex had about a 27% rating. Now it's 66%.

I'm not sure about the tenants moving out or vacant apartments that can't be rented though.

Indy Anna, I think you are right about Hannah’s parents having joint custody of Hannah. (She turned 16 on May 18th, 2012)

On May 29th, Hannah said she was staying with her daddy in Jefferson when school ended and on July 22nd she said she is coming back home on Tuesday, July 24th, which was 1 month before she died. She sent a tweet saying she had passed her school year so it sounds like she did in fact live with her mother during the school year and stayed with her father for about a month or so during the summer holidays. She didn’t mention her sister or brother in her tweets but she did mention her dog Jake, who was still a puppy. In one tweet she said she was waiting for her father to bring food home so IDK if her brother and sister lived with either of Hannah’s parents. Hannah's siblings were only mentioned in Hannah's obituary.

On Oct 13, 2012, a media report said Hall County Sheriff's deputies investigation into the death of 16-year-old Hannah Truelove is at risk of stalling out because several potential witnesses refuse to come in for interviews. It was reported at the start of the investigation that potential witnesses refused to come in for interviews; however, investigators said they are working through this and have not given up because they want to solve the case so Hannah’s family can have closure.

Investigators didn’t say in their interview in October anything about having any suspects in this case or whether they found the silver car they were searching for. I haven’t heard of any search warrants being issued and Hannah’s autopsy report won’t be released because of the investigation so we may never get to read it for a very long time, if ever. I don’t know if autopsy reports on minors are released but they said they weren’t releasing Hannah’s because of the investigation. Apparently the GBI is working with the investigators at Hall County.

In her tweets Hannah talked about coloring her hair and exercising regularly. She ran 5 miles and was working out regularly. She said her legs and butt were extremely sore. She tanned herself at the outdoor pool at the complex and said the weather was extremely hot. From May 12th on, she said she had a very sore back and her tummy was so sore that she needed to see a doctor. She mentioned several times she was having trouble sleeping and was not a morning person. She did not like being woken up in the morning during the summer holidays and she said she was grouchy.

Thanks, Bluesky. I sort of expected that Hannah lived with her dad during her whole summer vacation, but it was for less than 2 months. Didn't seem she enjoyed staying there. I think her tweets while she was living with her dad are more ominous that her tweets while living with her mom. Interesting that in the same comment saying she couldn't stand her dad, she said it's because money can't buy love. Now I'm really thinking that JT's comments about Hannah's mother taking away her cell phone are false. I get the impression he was contending with Hannah's mother for Hannah's affection by promising and showering her with material things. Maybe he gave Hannah a cell phone that her mother thought had too many apps for a 16-year-old and her mom planned to buy her a different one. This is just speculation. Anyway, I think we need to take anything that JT says with a grain of salt.

We don't know that Hannah didn't have a new cell phone by the day she was killed. It would be so good to hear her mother's version of all this. How she must be hurting!

The tweet on July 19 - Hannah was still at her dad's, right?

Thinking about all the tweets regarding stomach and back pain, and exercising. 5 miles is a long way to run. I wonder if Hannah could've been suffering from Bulimia. Not only did she tweet about have a tummy, she also tweeted about having a big "butt." To be doing all that exercise and yet complaining about her body (she does not look at all overweight in pictures), it sounds like she had a distorted body image. The excessive exercising could cause the back pain. If she did have Bulimia and purged by vomiting, a stomach ulcer could form, causing the stomach pain. Her legs and butt being sore could've resulted from excessive exercise. With all this pain, it's no wonder Hannah wasn't sleeping well.

I don't know if the possibility that Hannah suffered from Bulimia has any bearing on the case, other than to rule out other possibilities. Some people did speculate earlier that Hannah might be pregnant and was killed by the baby's daddy. I doubt that she would feel like doing so much exercise if she was pregnant.

Not trying to discredit you by any means, but I don't think 5 miles is excessive exercise. That's only about a 40 minute workout.

It strikes me as strange that her mother has never come forward. Is she a suspect and that is why?

I just noticed this in her Twitter from May 24:

It seems Hannah was living in fear and feeling despondent just before she was attacked. After reading through her tweets, it is apparent that from May on, she was in a great deal of physical and emotional pain. Her body ached, she wasn’t sleeping, and she was frustrated with those who woke her up while she was on summer vacation. It seems Hannah was stuck between a rock and a hard place. On May 20 Hannah tweeted, “Too much drama in my life”. There's a reason she said she needed to move out of those dang apartments.

Hannah loved the lake and she tanned herself at the outdoor pool so she was probably dressed in a bathing suit. Hannah was beautiful so she would have drawn a lot of attention to herself at the pool and there must be hundreds of people who live at the Lake Lanier Apartment Complex and visit there. Ninette Sosa, reporter 106.7, who appeared on Nancy Grace never said there was an outdoor pool there and if Hannah hadn’t mentioned this in her tweets, we wouldn’t have known.

According to Bethany Marshall, research says that the perpetrators in these cases are often underemployed Caucasian males who are not married, single, and living in an apartment. One out of every four violent crimes occurs in or near the victim`s home and with young people usually the body is found within a quarter mile” but an unemployed male would not be able to afford to live there imo.

In May Hannah said she spent her money on clothes and couldn’t afford to buy a phone so she had been without one the entire summer. She said she wished for one and was using the computer until she got one. Her birthday was in May but she wasn't given the phone she desperately wanted yet she graciously thanked her family for the party they threw for her.

On July 22nd she said she needed a new phone ASAP. Near the end of August, Hannah still didn’t have one and her mother told the operator the reason her daughter didn’t have a cell phone was because she didn’t t allow her to have one because of her behavior at school; yet Hannah was still hoping for one in July and August which doesn’t make any sense imo.

I believe Hannah was upset with her mother over this and that is exactly what Ms. Harris told Jeff Truelove when she called him to inform him something may have happened to their daughter. Ms. Harris btw wasn’t concerned about how her father would react to this very disturbing news nor did she open her heart to him; she just delivered the message and hung up on him. Poor guy, my heart goes out to him.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE DISPATCHER: And does she have a cell phone?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CALLER: No, she doesn`t.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CALLER: No, sir.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE DISPATCHER: All right.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE CALLER: That`s why I`m hesitant because that means she`s lost all her privileges because of school and stuff and that`s one of the privileges she lost. That`s why I think she might be up -- she might be up to something.

And she just hung up the phone and called me back later and said -- well, she called me back about 10:15, said that she had called the law and that she`s sure she has run away. And I says, Well, why would she run away? She goes, She`s upset with me. And I said, Well, OK, you know, but she wouldn’t run away.

Hannah did not have a cell phone all summer yet witnesses claim they saw her tweeting.

“Hannah’s neighbors said they saw the brown-haired, blue-eyed girl walking toward the picnic tables at Lake Lanier Club Apartments at 4 pm Thursday, where she was often seen relaxing and sending tweets. But her last tweet came hours before at 1:32 p.m. which said, “ummm yes ma’am.”

Even though Hannah said she hated her father, I don’t believe she did. After her parents separated, Mr. Truelove was still actively involved in her life and he said if he knew his daughter was in danger, he would have immediately taken her out of there; so he did love and support his daughter and he didn’t abandon her after he and Hannah’s mother separated. He took her shopping for school clothes in August, was teaching her to drive, and welcomed her into his home.

“She was a very loving girl,” her father said. “She was just daddy’s little girl.”

“Hannah lived in the gated apartment complex with her mother, but her father, who lives in nearby Jackson County, said that if he had heard any worries, “she would be out here with me.”

I don't feel Hannah's mom was being unreasonable for taking away Hannah's cell phone. Not everyone views cell phones as security devices and Hannah's mom apparently had no reason to suspect her daughter was in any danger. We made it into adulthood 20+ years ago without a cell phone. Many parents still consider cell phones a privilege which children often abuse. Maybe Hannah had been using her cell to text and talk to friends while she should have been studying.

Thank you for posting this - the voice of reason. I have a 17-year-old daughter who has always given me a lot of trouble. The FIRST thing I take from her is her phone because she is GLUED to it 24/7, to the point of an obsession. She sleeps with it! As far as being able to reach her when she is out, she is always with others who have phones that I am able to reach her through. As far as being able to get a hold of a kid through a cell phone for "security reasons", some kids just don't answer the phone if they don't feel like talking to a parent. My daughter has lost her phone many times over that. If I'm paying for it, you darn well better answer it!

For those who are criticizing the mom for taking her phone away, I wonder if any of them have an unruly teenage daughter?

By the way, a kid can do as much on an IPod as a phone as far as Tweeting, Facebook, and emailing, so perhaps Hannah had one which is how she tweeted.

Good point about the iPod. I was wondering how she was tweeting without lugging around a laptop or something. You can do everything except make a call, no?
