Need Information!

Hi everyone. My name is Natalie and I need a little help on a man by the name of "George Christian Honold" or "George John Honold". He lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the great grandfather of one of my distant relatives. Her family believed that "George Christian Honold" committed suicide around 1927. But when looking into her family history, she discovered he went by a different name, "George John Honold" and that he had passed in 1988. I'm either thinking that he faked his death and started a second family, or that his identity was stolen?Any information you can find is very helpful to me. Thank you.

Not completely sure. I'm more leaning towards the fact that it was either stolen identity or two different people.

In those years, with a fairly unusual surname, they are likely related.

George C.'s parents seem to be Michael & Wallburga, born in Germany. Both gentlemen worked in a brewery per a Federal census; lived at 2335 Victor Street in Cincinnati. Apparently George C. passed in 1932, is interred in the Vine Street Hill Cemetery. Apparently in December of 1922, George C. married Wilhemina Baumann. They had at least one child, George Roudolph, who married Minnie McCauley Moore (a widow) in 1954. Apparently George R. was serving in the Air Force at the time, at Wright-Patterson.

George J. apparently died in 1986. I didn't follow his line, just a guess.

Thank you so smush! I just found out that George Rudolph was related! I will continue to look for more info but I believe that my relative wants to take a dna test to find out.

Sure, but there are plenty of records for these folks, and Ohio has nice forms & super microfilming! DNA is useful, but you & your family may still need the paper trail to make sense of your DNA results.

(I've been combing English ancestors out of Colonial records, and Irish & Welsh pre-Civil War. Even the German names are accessible with neat forms & nice handwriting! Your family is easy going so far.)

1954 is recent genealogically. There will be other records, but you may need to switch to newspapers:

After looking through some records and analyzing all the helpful information people sent to me, I was able to figure out the real story. The real name was George Christian Honold. He did commit suicide, and his identity was later stolen. Dna was still in the records for the fake name- that's why it linked two different people back to my relative. I was able to find the gravesite for George C, proving that he died way earlier than the 80's. (when the man under the fake name passed.) There was no gravesite record for a George J anywhere. I will continue to skim over more information, but I wanted to share that I have a solid theory. Pretty crazy, right?

Maybe a sibling? It could be possible, but her family doesn't recall him having a sibling. Probably one they didn't know about. Thank you!

George J's parents seem to be Jacob and Anna. Jacob probably died before 1910, and Anna remarried in 1911 to Henry Schafer.

I've done some more digging, and the theory is slowly falling apart. All of your information is very helpful to me. I'm digging through old records to find a more realistic idea of what happened. Sorry for all the confusion.
