I think she killed her deliberately because of the Internet searches for chloroform. I think the big fight with Cindy and George made Casey's decision to "go ahead and do it now" so to speak.
I think she hid Caylee at her parents' house for a day or so (probably to figure out a permanent place to leave the body), and then came back for Caylee's body. I think she was afraid someone would find her at her parents' and she decided it was too risky and drove with her in the trunk for an additional day or more trying to figure out where to put Caylee. By then, there would be an odor.
Human decomposition starts within four minutes (see the decomp thread) and according to Dr. Kobalinski (on Nancy Grace) the horrible smell begins between 24 and 48 hours from death.
Because the dogs hit on her parents' yard but her parents and neighbors never complained of or noticed a foul smell, I don't think she left Caylee at her parents' house for more than two days--probably just a day of so---before the smell began.
