neighbors being questioned about handyman

Uh...about 30 million Americans have a substance abuse problem. :)
13 million are using illegal drugs and 15 million abuse alcohol

Not to mention those abusing prescription drugs too!

The report did not say that he "broke into people's houses". It said that he had stolen from homes. Because he lived in two of those homes, he might have walked off with his roommates' cds or booze collection. This is not good, but it would be very different that breaking and entering. We don't know what his supposed crimes are.
Of course your right. When my property is taken by someone who "walks off with it" versus "breaking into my home" its much easier for me to understand what the penalty should be. Ah maybe?

There are also halfway houses for people that have just been discharged from various substance abuse programs (includes alcohol).

Sure but you don't get a parole officer when you leave rehab, right? I am thinking this guy may be a little more bad than I thought...

Maybe he didn't just take things from houses and stores... maybe cars too...

If you were arrested for an alcohol or drug-related offense, you could get a parole officer and a required stay at a halfway house after release. Some states have more money and programs than other states. I have no idea what MO has.

He would have some serious competition. ;) With this amount of crime so close to their home, it would be impossible to blame it on one guy.

Northland resident XXXX XXXXXXX, who used to rent a room to Jersey's girlfriend, says that Jersey was an occasional guest until XXXXXXX kicked the woman out of the home near 36th and North Brighton in August for not paying rent. The home is just two doors down from one with a backyard well searched by police on Wednesday.

"He was suppose to be at a halfway house for awhile and he hadn't reported into there and they were hunting him pretty hard because he had multiple charges against from Maccaluso's. I guess he had been stealing from there and breaking into homes around the neighborhoods is what they told me," said XXXXXXX.

(2nd hand news, XXXX is relating what he says he was told).

at about 1:20 mark

XXXX XXXXXXX relates that LE told him that "Jersey" stopped visiting his parole officer.

Again second hand news.

Earlier in the same clip, the reporter states "police came to visit him shortly after Jersey stopped seeing his parole officer."

wow, not in WA. You may be required to go to outpatient rehab, AA and pay lots of money but that's it. Sometimes 30 days jail. That's after several offenses even. Not me but I have this brother....lol (one in every family right?)

Where I live, these halfway houses are called "sober living homes".

I'm turning in for the night. Thanks for all the interesting thoughts and opinions on this thread! It was very interesting and I'm sure I'll be thinking about Lisa again tonight before I drift off.

Take care everyone :seeya:

yep Time for me to head to bed too...night all

From what I've heard, you either stay clean or get kicked out in sober living homes. People who are trying to stay clean resent the ones that they know are faking it, and might tell on the rule breaker. Jersey does sound out of control, but too much so to deal with a baby for long. Could he have seen the opportunity to make some money and pass the baby to someone he knew would give him money?

I sure wish BD or JI would tell how much interaction if any they had with this Jersey guy.

The video recently posted described Jersey as having friends. The elderly woman in the video was not afraid of Jersey and she drove him to a destination in her car. Jersey was stated to be homeless because he was living with his girlfriend in a home, but they were unable to pay the rent. After this, Jersey moved in with another friend in the neighborhood.

Jersey's situation sounds very different than the homeless psychotic schizophrenic that is begging along the inner city street.

:waitasec: Except for the spitting on the customers outside the restaurant!

And my daughter, bless her heart. Probation, rehab, AA and fines and she has to get a job. (In a time when few people can find a job!) FYI She is in Kansas.

Carry on night owls!!

May today be the day we see Lisa returned home!!

I have to share this story with you guys that was in the paper today.

This girl was selling prescription drugs and she sent a text to a number someone told her wanted drugs. She got one number wrong and ended up texting a sheriffs deputy with "Hi, you want to do a little business".
Well he texted back "sure" so she told him where to meet her etc.You know the rest of the story...LOL Can you imagine her surprise???

FYI she was selling Zanax.

Nite all.

That's right, but if you are on parole to begin with, you would so back to prison if you were caught abusing drugs or alcohol.

In the latest video (IIRC) where a guy talks about having rented a room to this handyman's girlfriend, he states that he threw her out because she stopped paying rent. He further states that the handyman stayed there with her and that he had stopped visiting his parole officer as far as he knew. If that is true (and may not be), then this guy may be headed back to prison for violation of parole - not to any halfway house for drug/alcohol abuse.

The latest video was posted just late last night in the media thread.

I'd like to know why a man would steal a ten month old baby. It just isn't likely. I know of one reason but don't want to go there....been there, done that and I can't go there again.

If there is a serious S.O out there, I hope they have him. The one I know of raped two children under two before he took the infant. His records were sealed for the first two because he was a teenager.

There are very bad people out there... this case was extremely unusual and extremely sick.

Anyone have a profile on the parents yet? I caught up with videos on the mother. She has a flat affect which in my mind says there coulf be mental issues and/or perhaps medication. I know people are going to say but she's crying. She is carrying the same expression throughout even with crying. The father appears bewildered/depressed. Can't get a good handle on him.

The extremely tidy house was totally unexpected. I could take a stab at it but I better wait.

I wonder when this occurred?

==================================

from link...Another neighbor says that police visited her a few days ago with a picture of Jersey.

"I did take Jersey down on Lister one day he said to his buddy's house where he was staying," said neighbor Barbara Hoy. The home she took Jersey to visit is across the street from the Irwin family home in the 3600 block of N. Lister.

Neighbors reported an unknown handyman in the area of the Irwin home in the days before Irwin disappeared.

Sorry if this has already been posted (hard to keep up with everything in here). More info on "Jersey" via his former landlord.

What I find particulary interesting about this report (if true) is that "Jersey" ended up staying with a friend after getting kicked out of the girlfriend's room. This friend apparently lived across the street from the Irwin family. So...did DB or JI know him?
