IMHO this man MP had already returned to society on his own terms, and his stay in the Altrecht Clinic was mere window dressing, both on his part and on the part of those who were meant to keep an eye on this dangerous man.

I believe in justice and the rule of law, but this is a farce.

Just clicking thanks was not enough. Thank you. I could not agree more with this.

Just some odds and ends: Spakenburg is about 20 km/12.5 miles north of Den Dolder, about a half hours' drive. And there is a lake just north of Spakenburg... I really hope they have some kind of GPS signal on this dude...

The point where the last signal from Anne's phone was measured is by one of the (several) routes one could take from Den Dolder to Spakenburg too.

I'm so sad for Anne and her family (in which I include her boyfriend).

The police, together with the Mobile Unit and sniffer dogs, are searching for the missing Anne Faber around the Flediteweg near the Zeewolde golf resort. The police has made this known.

According to the police, 'new investigative information' has led to this area. The police do not want to say anything about this information. Agents have cordoned off the surroundings of the' Tuurtoren'. Zeewolde is the former residence of Michael P., who is suspected of involvement in the case of Anne Faber. Early this week P. was arrested as a suspect.

Yesterday on Twitter, there was speculation about the Stille Kern [ Quiet Core ] as a location on the route between' Den Dolder and Zeewolde'. The police had previously searched for her near Den Dolder, where P. was staying in a clinic.

Reading how he was and what he did even before raping this two young girls, this guy should have been given preventive detention in a psychiatric hospital on our Kings pleasure (TBS in Dutch, couldn't find an adequate translation in English) at a very young age, for the rest of his life. By saying nothing all the time, hampering a psychological/personality research the judge could not impose any TBS on him. Actually I'm really shocked about how the Dutch legal system is working with this kind of people, this case in particular. Complicated dilemma because I also believe in the rights of people not yet convicted for a crime. I think in the raping case the evidence "was all over"....so it should be possible to impose TBS.

The 27-year-old suspect Michael P., who was arrested on Monday in connection with the disappearance of Anne Faber (25), comes from Zeewolde. His family has a holiday home in the Horsterwold recreation park, which is also located in the search area. The police do not want to comment on this. "We are searching all over the area."

Vast area with woods and lots of water.

There is some confusion on SM, posters hoping that Anne will be found alive in the holiday home of MP's relatives, but the resort is not in the nature reserve.

According to our information, people are coming to Zeewolde to assist with the search. That is very attentive, but not necessary. We are now deploying specialists only.

IMHO if he hid her here after dark, he probably dumped her into the water.

The ground is sea clay and that is thick and heavy, unlike the sandy soil around Den Dolder. The region of Zeewolde is called South Flevoland. South Flevoland is a recent polder, the drainage works ended in 1968. In the early middle ages there used to be a village in the area where Zeewolde is now. At that time, the name was 'Seaewald'. Floods in the later Middle Ages caused the village of Seaewald to disappear in the Zuiderzee.

IMHO MP could not both dig a grave and visit his mother's birthday and be back in Den Dolder for curfew at 11 o'clock, all during the same evening from approximatey 18.45 hrs on, or 19.30 hrs if he was the one who switched off the phone.
BTW the curfew is probably non-existent, no doubt we will hear about that later.

The Zeewolde search area is new. Based on new (?) info that he might have used his mother's car (?) and that he was seen in that area (?). LE is not telling! only that they are acting in information received.

It seems to me they are shifting the area of focus every day. Or are they just adding new areas and keep searching the previous ones too?

I wonder whether someone at the clinic saw him come in that night, what time it was, and how he looked (dirty, wet?) and how his demeanor was. Or was he allowed to stay out overnight because of his mom's bd?

It depends on how you define 'area'. There are two main areas of search: From Huis ter Heide to Den Dolder where the suspect was living, and the new area near Zeewolde where he used to live and where he was allegedly seen on the day of Anne's disappearance. The entire Zeewolde area is bigger than the area around Den Dolder.

The distance from Den Dolder to Zeewolde is about 40 kms.

The Police has not given any information about his programme nor if he was allowed to stay out.

Map:

Pink area 1 is Den Dolder.
Pink area 2 is Zeewolde.
Pink area x is Spakenburg, where the mother of the suspect works and where he would have been seen driving her car.

It looks to me like investigators are systematically expanding the search area from where her phone lost signal - bike, backpack, to suspect's residence and psychiatric ward, to his place of work in the forest where it is said he knew "every square centimetre" of the area, and, now that it is known he had a car - to his family's vacation home.
