New Drug Deletes Bad Memories

  • #41
There are many cases where this would be a great thing - incredibly great. That which doesn't kill you doesn't always make you stronger, sometimes it just remains as a trauma, and a bad memory to hold you back from trusting people, living your life.

Minority Report - they'd track down and imprision people before they could commit the murder (right before) they were going to commit - not kill them. That movie drove me nuts. I'm a big believer in the needs of the many come before the needs of the one (to semiquote vulcans some more). Here they have a society without murder - think of everyone killed that just makes the news, just in the last few months - they're all fine. Most murders are prevented because people know they will be caught, the few crimes of passion that aren't controllable that way still don't happen because the person is stopped first. The cost - 3 psychics who can't function in the real world living their lives telling them when and where the next murder will be. And because this got one murder slightly wrong (no innocent convicted, just one guilty man out of two missed), they destroy the whole system, go back to murders everywhere. And this is presented as a happy ending, a good thing. Ticked me off!

That sounds like versed/verced. They use it for colonscopy and other quick procedures like endoscopy. It's awesome.

So that's why you like colonoscopy day. lol.

It's just too high on the "creep-factor" for me.

My memories and thoughts are a part of me. It is what makes me who I am. This body is merely a vessel. It is our minds that truly separate us and make each of us uniquely different, special and our own person.

While I certainly have MANY memories that, on the surface, I would love to erase, I would never actually do it. Ya gotta take the good with the bad & I'm a roll with the punches type gal. My experiences and memories, good and bad, are an important ingredient in the "How to make an eleven" recipe.

IMO

Agreed 100%. This drug sounds totally creepy to me. I want all of my memories, even the negative and traumatic ones. To live any other way just doesn't make sense to me.

I'd be afraid they'd plant new memories, but I'm just paranoid like that. I'd lose most of my life's memories if I took it. That would suck, as horrible as they are, if I have any tiny memories at all I consider myself lucky these days.

Personally, think EMDR therapy is a far better choice
