I am from CA, mid-desert - and we used to PRAY for snow...now, after three winters in CT, I can honestly say - I HATE SNOW!!!!! I want a heat wave, I mean 100-110 degrees! I mean 10-20-30 days in a row! Where I am from, it is a dry heat, damn I WANT THAT :( It may cost me my marriage, lol.

Hey seriously, there are way less legit reasons to divorce than weather LOL!

LOL Gardenlady, hope you got out for those emergency supplies!

They usually plow pretty well around here but it's laying faster than they can keep up so i think they're giving up!

LOL - I "should" have left DH after he lost his job in CA, and got one in CT - could he have gotten any further from my home????? But, after 20 years, and a 15 yo DS, I honored my vows. Oh, and I have divorced for less, DH now is my 3rd :p

We got 8-1/2" so far, it's supposed to turn to sleet/rain now....

Holy crap the snow is heavy. Ugh. And it's still coming down. :waiting:

  • #65
Seems to be getting heavier here yet supposed to be subsiding. Radar looking like the end is near. My guess is 10 inches so far...honestly I quit counting or caring after about mid December...I just know my little hanging patio lamp is about five inches from being covered, again. I'm always happy when the pool fence is showing and it is...feet to go before it poofs. Feelin GOOd! Haha. My kids are going nuts though. Not so into playing in it, shoveling is useless as it is very light and powdery and blowing around. Snow days just aren't what they used to be :(

I was worried it would be heavy wet stuff here, too GL. Thankfully the cold air stayed far enough down. Was about 15 degrees last I looked. Prefer that, shoveling that wet snow is awful :(

  • #67
We got the wet stuff...when I went out to shovel, it was "ice pellets" and now snow. Never knew what that meant, til I moved here lol....

We have had a LOT of ice here this winter, not liking that! I'm good with snow, ice noooo. Literally inches on everything for a month and the driveway and roads had a good 4 inches packed down under all the sand and snow for the same amt of time (some still like that, like the side roads) At least not slippery anymore but driving the bumps could put me over the edge! I dream of smooth roadwaysLOL My driveway is still mostly covered in ice from what seems to be months ago. I take the broom and sweep all the sand/salt from my garage and try to fly it over as much area as I canLOL Icemelt is useless!!

We just shoveled even though it's still coming down. We've had at least 12 inches here so far and it's still falling but slow now. Should have gone to the liquor store this morning!

  • #70
Lol justanother - I went to the liquor store Tues. :) We got about 10-11" here, but the pain in the b&*t was the ICE on the windshield/windows this morning. We are supposed to get more on Sun., and then another big storm Tues./Wed...

Oh and I DID get out mid storm for my smokes and wine lol!

We ended up with about 9 inches or so. Plus a nice crust over the top of everything from the sleet that refroze and got snowed over. Not happy to hear more is coming. So.over.it.

After yesterday (PUKE) I had to go out to shovel out. It was hard to open my door, I had to squeeze out. It was 15 degrees.

I had my trusty shovel to get down the deck stairs. Ugh.

Then when I got down there, through the crunchy ice, It was up to my knees.

:tantrum:

Broom and shovel in hand to get inside my car. It took me 1/2 hour.
Mind you, the plowing has now packed up the back of my car. BTW I have a ***** car. So, I was there, sweeping and shoveling. I had 2 pairs of gloves on,
my finger tips were in pain.

Then comes Elias, our helper. WHOOT!!
Please Elias, snow blow my car out :please::please::please:

I had to go back upstairs to soak my hands in warm water for 5 minutes, I was in sooooooo much pain.

My plow guy does a very small path to our front steps. My back is not happy with me… I didn't shovel a thing today. Tomorrow I'll go out and make a path from garage to woodshed to where I put generator and then through to back and back door so dogs have a place to run in circles. Light and powdery here, but fearing waiting the day and the sun shining in the 20's today probably has made a lovely crunch coat of ice on top. Eh, whatever…. my driveway looks goodLOL!

I hate that feeling when the fingertips go numb! I will say I'm always hot, this morning I put an extra zipper hoodie on to take the trash and recycling to the end of the driveway, kids asked if I was sickLOL Gloves and a hat are my winter gear, no winter coat…can't stand the confinement of it! Course, it was 5 this morning so though very cold, lately it is more of a warm temp, sheesh crazy huh???

I WANT HEAT, 80-90-100-110 - I don't CARE, just let it be above 30!!!!!

  • #76
Well, the SE storm is turning into a nor'easter for us in NE...We are supposed to get 6-12" going from snow, to freezing rain, back to snow - starting EARLY tomorrow a.m. and lasting until Friday a.m. A long duration storm...

Yep they are saying a foot here. My street is already so narrow due to the amount of snow pushed to the sides. Pretty soon there will only be enough room left to get out via snowmobile or sled. :help:

Oh great, they're calling it "catastrophic storm" now. :ohoh: it's official name is Pax. Yeah, peace be with you too.

Check out the snowfall map... :waiting: http://www.necn.com/weathernewengland

This seems like such a long winter. I think I am in the 12 but maybe 9. Idk, but I know it is to much. I wonder when it will start :/
