It's 91 inside right now. :scared:

It's disgusting, isn't it? My upstairs is so hot right now, walking up the stairs feels like I'm sinking slowly into warm mud. :scared:

Our house is 2-story too (also with a basement)....DS (15) inhabits the entire upstairs and acts like it's not 110 up there, lol. I told him to come downstairs and sleep, yeah right - with mom and dad???? Luckily he knows about hydration (used to go to the ER due to dehydration, no known reason = just one of his banes) so no worries there. he eats frozen ice pops (Dr. said just like drinking water) like I drink wine :) ....

I can't be the only one here to complain about the heat, can I?

Anyone else dyin? Can't do anything, too damn hot! :help:

Gardenlady, I can sympathize as we've had excessive heat in Michigan this past week. The heat advisory remains in effect until 8:00 this evening. Severe storms are predicted, and temperatures will drop.

I've basically stayed indoors and out of the high heat and humidity. Just being outdoors long enough to water my flowers is like stepping into a sauna  I ran several errands yesterday, and everyone that I talked to mentioned the excessive heat. I will gladly welcome some relief.

Stay cool :)

BDE have you had your storms yet? I've been trying to ask my in laws, who are in western MI, but for once of course none of them are on FB lol... I don't see anything on radar for us yet.

Thermometer said 99 here at about 1pm, so I'm gonna go ahead and assume we have passed the 100 degree mark at this point. Air is still disgusting, and my pool feels like dirty bath water, yuck.

We need a fainting-from-humidity emoticon. This one will have to do for now: :thud:

We have a breeze here in CT GL - so even at 97+ the breeze is making it more bareable (sp) :)

I gave up a half hour ago, and am now holed up in my bedroom with the pitifully weak window AC, with a mojito and my iPad lol. DH and boys are down in the heat playing minecraft. Screw that!

I got the screen door open (breeze coming in :) ) and my strategy is working...lol

DH is now asleep, DS is playing XBOX upstairs, and I am all alone watching what I want on TV. DS said my strategy is brilliant. I lay down for a "nap" when DH is almost home and "sleep" until they are through in the living room, lol.

Sooooo, where are these storms we were promised?! Did my drive up to central VT yesterday to pick up DD, no sign of the derecho. They said a few days ago they got huge storms up there, but so far nothing has materialized here in central Mass. I did manage to avoid a brief town-wide power outage while gone. DH had to deal with a house full of little boys and friends with no AC and a bath water-warm pool while I was gone. I managed to be gone long enough to miss the whole outage. :D

House is still sticky, and while there was a small breeze outside yesterday, it's still humid.

I want my derecho, damnit!

Gardenlady, nice here in Southeastern MA>!!!!We had a couple storms move in, first one rained for 5 minutes and then the second one a few hours later I think is what finally pushed it out. This stretch of Hot Hazy & Humid weather just about killed me. No A/C and all the fans did was push the hot air around.
It still could be cooler for my taste but at least I am not soaked as I have been. What a terrible week I took for vacation!!!!

The Farm, I was down with family in Taunton a couple days ago and it was, if possible, even nastier than here in central mass. :help: SO glad to hear you got some storms, my poor little baby cousins were miserable in the heat!

We are a bit cooler, but like you said, still too humid for my taste. And we need rain! Can't figure out how the air can hold this much moisture without it having to come out as rain lol!

LOL,,,I am right near Taunton. Getting really humid again of course and I am sweating.
I guess the respite was just for a couple of hours!!!

Brutal it is and I have had enough.

We had some heavy downpours with thunder and lightning where I live, and a lot of folks are still without power. It's cooled off enough to open windows last night, but I think it's still too hot :D

Daily Mail w/pics & video:

'Ghostly fog' caught on camera the moment it rips car mirror off police vehicle leaves officers scared and meteorologists scrambling for an answer
• 'Some of the officers said they think the parking lot's haunted,' said Hartford Lt. Brian Foley
• NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Brad Field concluded that the fog is not a ghost, rather it is a mini-tornado
• The car mirror was ripped off the car and swept through the air before it fell down to the asphalt beneath the car door
---
Brad Field, an NBC Connecticut meteorologist, believes there is a more scientific explanation for the event.

After reviewing the video, Field concluded that the fog was not a ghost, but a dust devil. A dust devil is a mini-tornado of sorts. It's a swirl of wind that picks up the debris surrounding it. They have been known to form on asphalt surfaces.

'The only way you can see the dust devil is that it picks up dust and debris into it,' Field said.

'To be able to rip a mirror off a car, throw it around and then put it right back below where it was ripped off is interesting ... to say the least,' Foley told NBC.

940 flights canceled as Northeast gets pounded with wintry weather

http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2013/12/14/northeast-braces-for-another-shot-wintry-weather/

HARTFORD, CONN. – A fast-moving storm expected to drop a foot of snow or more in the Northeast over the weekend moved into the region Saturday as road crews went on high alert and airlines began canceling flights.

Utilities, airports and local officials braced for power outages, flight delays and slick roads while shoppers headed out to stores to tackle gift lists during a shorter-than-normal holiday shopping season......

Airlines have canceled about 940 flights because of the storm, mostly in the Northeast and Midwest. Almost 350 flights into and out of Newark, N.J., have been canceled, and 172 at Chicago's O'Hare airport have been called off. ExpressJet and United have canceled the most flights so far........

Three degrees here in central Mass, with more snow on the way this afternoon. Of course the heater in my car decides today is the day it's gonna quit on me. :help:
