Hi all,
I'm new here, not sure it's the right place.
I have been poking into a situation in which a husband "accidentally" shot and killed his wife. He pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide with no jail time. A few things didn't sit right with me so I put in a FOIL to the police department and they dragged their heels, but finally sent me some stuff. The "accident" might very well be an accident, but still - lots of things don't make sense.
Is there a place here for looking into that kind of accident to see if it isn't really an accident? I have been poking around, but haven't seen anything like that yet.
Thank you very much for reading this and any advice you may have,
Nosy

Are you referring to the actual case? You could look up either the deceased or the husband's name using the search function (the little magnifying glass icon) and see if someone has entered the case. I dont know the rules on WS about creating a subject on a case already investigated. Perhaps wait for another poster to advise. Have news articles already been printed with the outcome?

Hi, yes the outcome has been in the papers. I was wondering if anyone here investigates outcomes that may be wrong? Thank you!

As far as I know, you can start a thread about a case at any point -- unless there is a juvenile involved. Once resolved, those cases are usually removed to protect the minor.

Include the date, location, and deceased in the thread title, maybe husband guilty of negligent homicide.

Article links, LE links. Maybe scan some of your FOIA documents and link to those (not sure where you might store those for access without actually posting?)

You might get the attention of an investigative reporter or insurance adjuster (trained to evaluate accidental death claims) or just our usually persistent WebSleuths.

Since the court case was adjudicated, that's likely final but you've noticed that we love to dig into cases here....
