South west and if they are in Topaz Mountain, UT that is 150 miles from WVC. Sorry, I can't post maps either. White screen...googles working on it they say.

South eastish? which matches what jp said way back when he said he went camping south. I apologize for the sloppy typing.

Do you remember way back then when Josh started to say he was camping in one direction but then quickly changed it to the other? I don't remember which was which but he said something like "we went sou..,...I mean north". Does anyone remember him saying that? I remember a lot of people thinking it was a slip by Josh and he didn't want the police going south, so he changed it to north. I don't remember it that clearly, though.

eta: i see Dom answered correctly.

I think southwest. I am terrible with directions, to be honest. But southeast would be Price and that area, right? This is on the other side of the freeway from that. On Highway 6, instead of getting off and going through Spanish Fork, you would go through Santequin.

I get lost in my house sometimes, though. So, I could be wrong. :loser:

I think what he said was west, and then added that it was down by the Pony Express Trail.

We actually are going to have an airplane up here in a little bit. They're going to be looking from the air, seeing if there's anything that we've missed," said Merritt. "We're very hopeful that we'll come up with something but we just don't know at this point whether we will or not.http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-s...an-powell-near-delta-20110913,0,1673815.story

I was watching the case of the women buried in Arizona due to a serial killer. From Google map, you could see where the land was disturbed because the desert doesn't change a whole lot. Can the same be said of this area?

It was the beanie cap interview. anyone have quick access to it? tia.

He actually said down south, the Pony Express Trail or something. On the map Pony Express Route, Dugway, Ut, is about 25 miles away from Topaz Mountain. Same direction from WVC, southwest.

Good info here:
http://www.pgjr.alpine.k12.ut.us/science/whitaker/Places/Topaz/Topaz.htm

"Topaz is open to OHV traffic with very few restrictions and is increasing in popularity for that purpose. The BLM can provide you with free maps that outline the exact restrictions. It's important that those who intend to use the area realize that the fragile Topaz ecosystem is typical of Utah desert ecosystems. Everything grows very slowly and won't recover quickly from damage of any kind. Juniper trees, in particular, will not recover quickly from having limbs damaged. It takes 75 years for a juniper to grow from seedling to the point where it can produce seed of its own.

Enjoy Topaz but "tread lightly" and remember that almost no trash items will decompose in the dry desert environment...."

Did this search start yesterday, or is the date incorrect on the thread title?

I wonder what the Powells think of this search.... Are they hiding from the media so far?

Looks like Josh's attorney spoke for him this morning per this article. Oh how I hope they start talking again. (not really but you know what I mean)

snipped

Josh Powell's Salt Lake City attorney, Scott Williams, declined comment on West Valley City's search Tuesday. He contends Josh Powell has cooperated with police.
