Since Josh is just an innocent, grieving husband....why did he not buy a one-way ticket to see if his beautiful wife was murdered and her remains were found? Is he busy?

The same grieving husband moved out of their home to another state within one month of her disappearance and refused to speak to police.

This kinda makes me angry...
SO if this is where SP WAS and either JP or his dad went to the spot and removed the remains to put them somewhere perhaps the police already searched....
WHY in the HE77 weren't these 2 being watched 24/7? Things are getting really bad in this country when it is 98% probable that someone murdered their wife and LE can't put a GPS or a tail on them.
The constitution was written over 200 years ago and times have changed...
Sigh... sad

Thank you, but I'm still not quite understanding WHY some believe the body may have been removed.. Guess I need to go back and read in order to attempt to sort all this out.. Thanks for responding though...

Maybe because with all the digging and sifting dirt, they have not found any remains yet? With 8 dogs hitting on that spot, then not finding any bones, the natural assumption is that a body was buried there at one time, but is no longer there.
Unless her body was contained in a bag of some sort, I cannot imagine that it would be an easy or pleasant task to go out and dig it up and move it someplace. It's more than likely nothing but bones at this point. Maybe shreds of clothes... but even in a trash bag, it would be very hard to do. And NOT with the kids there, FGS... I hope and pray they were not with him!

Because LE has said that the ground was recently disturbed, like someone recently dug it up. imo

Im posting wayyyyy too much, but this is so strange!

Yesterday....."50/50 chance its susan". Nancy grace.."body found"......"human remains located"......

LE is usually so careful with comments. (Cough...Holly Bobo...cough).

Something must be brewing. Right????

I sure hope so! I'm trying to hard to be patient but....it's not my best virtue!

I'm having a hard time with Josh even digging a grave yaknowwhatImean? He just does not seem that motivated to me but hey, what do I know?

This is all so darn sad, where is Susan? Susan, please shine a light so they may find you. :)

I think a body was removed from the time LE said last night on that video that remains had been found to today when they say no remains have been found. Or else LE is full of BS.

Perhaps they should have worded it 'evidence' of human remains and that would cover the dogs' hits on the spot. Seems more like semantics than anything.

It's not semantics when that "human remains" is your family member.

"We found human remains" tells you there is a body there and it might be YOUR loved one.

"We think that we might have human remains here if we dig deep enough" does not tell you that.

Chuck Cox came here when he learned about this "body" being found. 50/50 chance it was his daughter.

If he had been told they had not found anything he would have phrased it as a "discovery" or "possible body."

They have misled the family as much as the public. I don't care what they tell us, but the family should have known the truth. :twocents:

I am surprised that Susan's dad would be allowed up near the excavation site as well...at least until they have determined that this is in fact Susan, and not some other person...but maybe they do have an item or two that suggests Susan, despite their denial. A few days ago, they indicated they had found a few items of interest (I think that was the term) although now they seem to be denying that.

Chuck Cox wanted to go to the area to see if he had any gut feeling about it. He wanted to see if he felt closer to Susan, or felt that it is Susan.

I quite frankly would have been upset if LE denied him that.
After the "we have a body"... "oops no we might have remains if we keep digging" thing they just pulled... letting him go out there was the least they could do.

FYI, on the cross rumor.

I vaguely remember seeing something about a cross this week, but I can't remember the context in which I saw it. It almost seems that it was only indirectly related to this, like someone saying, "There was another case that seemed like this, and what led them to the grave was a makeshift cross..." Does anyone remember a specific reference where it came up?

Josh and Steve Powell may be negative enough about the LDS Church so that it doesn't apply, but Mormons don't really use crosses in their worship. And I would find it hard to believe that either of these two cretins would have "found religion" enough to have decided to honor the woman they've so dishonored with their actions to put a cross at her disgraceful excuse for a resting place.

I read the article too and it was not related to Susan. I think it was another missing person case.

  • #1,089
Because LE has said that the ground was recently disturbed, like someone recently dug it up. imo

I believe they meant, as in the last ten years or less. That is, it's not an ancient burial ground.

The cross rumor came from the body at the rest stop in Illinois.

Where did the idea that her remains have been moved or relocated come from? If anybody can clarify, please? I promise to read and catch up, promise. :)

Because there has not been a body found where they are searching. Yet the dogs are still hitting on the area.

They would do that if there HAD been a body there but it was moved. I believe the dogs are smelling something.

So it's a theory that the body was moved but the decomposition smell remains for the dogs to detect.

I just wonder if LE realizes that is a possibility...

There also is Josh's other midnight camping trip in August... which would have given him the opportunity to come down and move evidence.

For those who are from Utah; was Kiplyn Davis's body ever found?

Kiplyn was in Spanish Fork and it is pretty widely believed that she was left in Spanish Fork.

However, anything is possible. I could definitely believe THEY dug a grave before I could believe Josh Powell put forth that effort.

If a search warrant just allowed LE to go thru his house, he would be thinking they are on to him and WATCHING for his reaction! Not the best time to go move a body.

"I took my 2 and 4 year old sons camping at midnight, in December, in Utah" is not the best alibi either.

We are not dealing with a guy who has the best timing.

Ok, I'm starting to have a really hard time with the reporting (and the K9 situation) on this current search.

I sure hope the dogs aren't digging.
Not to mention that if I understand correctly- we do not know this is a gravesite yet, is that correct?

And on top of that- smelling 'decomp' for an HRD dog is not the same as smelling ancient bone dust or fragments.
I think they must have discovered something/someone else- or nothing at all.

MVHO.

*sarcasm*

Oh we know it's a grave site.
Because the BLM lady says the earth has been disturbed... and because 7, 8 or 9 HRD dogs say there is human decomposition there.
(It was at 7 yesterday and they were bringing in 2 more today. So it could be 9 at this point.)

Don't you know... that is enough to say that this is a grave that currently contains a human body? Silly expert Oriah...

I wonder if the idea that a body was moved has even crossed their mind? :banghead:

You bet your behind he's busy, it's called CYA mode and he's been in it for almost two years, must be exhausting being him. :loser:

Hi D! The remarks are pure speculation! I think the fact that LE is on the site speaks volumes about what they know about SP/JP's movements!

  • #1,092
Because LE has said that the ground was recently disturbed, like someone recently dug it up. imo

I think the term "recent" threw some people off, the way I understood it was it was not an ancient american Indian burial ground but a more "recent" dig. Within the last couple of months to 10 years.

<snip>

A Bureau of Land Management archaeologist told investigators that the grave had been there "recently," within the past 10 years, Merritt said.

http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-s...for-susan-cox-powell-20110914,0,5405325.story

<snip>

West Valley City police Lt. Bill Merritt said Thursday afternoon that U.S. Bureau of Land Management archaeologist Joelle McCarthy determined any remains would neither be ancient nor likely to belong to an American Indian.

Soil at the site showed signs of a recent disturbance indicating remains would be less than 10 years old.

Just wanted to repost the press conference from yesterday afternoon- ( the "recent" remarks are rather telling IMO in this video) and also ask if anyone finds a link to today's conference from this afternoon with Chuck Cox- to please post a link. I would love to rewatch it. TIA!

So what I have learned in the last few days is that my definition of "recent" and "human remains" are VERY different from the experts.

  • #1,096
The link above states

"He said two teams of dogs sniffing out human decomposition suggests very high confidence that human remains are, or were, there."

Interesting.

Interesting indeed.

So let's see. If Josh and his father did somehow remove her body from this location do you think they still would have issued the statement the other day? Knowing full well that the police won't find her body? If that's the case they must really enjoy knowing that LE is working so hard but won't find her body no matter how deep they dig.

  • #1,098
I remember reading an article and Chuck Cox stated that he had an email from Susan a few months prior to her disappearance stating they were in the area of Topaz Mountain but I cannot find it I am still looking..

I was discussing this yesterday....I believe it's something Kiirsi had stated also. Someone else said it was a FB entry of SP's. I'm really curious about this because I want to know exactly "when" and who discovered this information and if it's been LE's knowledge for 2 years ....why wasn't a look-see given then, as it is only 30 miles from Simpson's Springs? TY

Authorities on Friday resumed their examination of what they called a shallow grave in the central Utah desert in their investigation into a missing mother after a day of digging provided no clues, no remains and no progress.

"It's a lot slower than we had anticipated,"
said Lt. Bill Merritt of the West Valley City Police Department.

"What we're dealing with right now are very tiny pieces. They all appear to be rock, but we just don't want to miss anything in case there's something that actually is more than that,"
Merritt said.

Cadaver dogs discovered the location this week amid a renewed search for Susan Powell, and investigators declared they had found human remains earlier in the day Thursday.

Police said they 🤬🤬🤬umed human remains would be found after cadaver dogs alerted on the spot.
