:maddening: is just one word going through my nose.

Well piping up before I leave, I always wondered about the cutting torch rumor of Josh buying. Sorry to be graphic but that would get hot enough to burn a body and dismemeber it. So it is possible for her to be there but not there fully, did that make sense....

It also would not suprise me one bit if he moved her around also after the fact.

At 11:05 Merritt states he can't speculate on the clothing....just yet. Was it a slip?

Maybe he meant he couldn't speculate because they hadn't found any clothing "just yet".

good questions by media. some family will get a conclusion to a missing family member.

I would probably be banned if I only bolded three letters of a certain word..but when I think of the "human remains" comments....grrr

I am still trying to figure out "shallow grave".

Let's assume it is a grave, how in the world would they know it was shallow? Evidently it is not shallow they have been digging for 2 days.

Somehow the dogs told them it was shallow? Kind of like my metal detector says how deep something is?

or maybe they have a 50/50 chance of finding clothing.

I am still looking for it... and I just might go postal if I cannot find it! I remember reading the article when the tweets stated he was on a flight to Utah. Is there a media link to all of the articles?

I really think he discovered the email after the search started because in an interview on Wednesday he appeared not so hopeful and then the next day he is on a one way flight to Utah??

I'm still trying to catch up on the articles also:

How deep is a shallow grave?

No wonder we haven't heard much. They are sifting through the dirt very slowly. I don't feel there's any reason to think there isn't a body underneath since they have only dug 2 feet. At least they will keep working tomorrow morning (if the rain lets up). Who knows, maybe just 1 more foot, and they hit something. They have to be so careful. I wish they could somehow separate the dirt at each level, and put it 'over there' for experienced workers to sift through, while they keep digging. Wish there were a way to take an x-ray of the ground right there.

How deep is a shallow grave?
I always thought a foot or two. Always thought there had to be a body in the hole too to call it a grave.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps he burned her body. Today's emphasis seems to have been on sifting the soil. And the way they talked about digging for a bit then bringing the dog back and seeing if the dog still alerted, showing there were still remains in the hole. Yet still not saying anything about finding any remains. The only reason I can think of for them to do that would be if what they were finding was perhaps too small to be visually identified as remains.

Still if he had burned her remains, how big a hole would he have needed in order to bury what was left? I would think it would be a very small hole, much smaller than the area they were said to be digging. And how in the world would they have found such a small hole? They would almost have had to have had coordinates for that.

How deep is a shallow grave?

Supposedly, according to my on-line searches, less than 6 feet deep. I think that means to the bottom of the grave, and then the body goes in and then there is probably 4 or 4.5 of dirt over that.

Authorities on Friday resumed their examination of what they called a shallow grave in the central Utah desert in their investigation into a missing mother after a day of digging provided no clues, no remains and no progress.

"It's a lot slower than we had anticipated,"
said Lt. Bill Merritt of the West Valley City Police Department.

"What we're dealing with right now are very tiny pieces. They all appear to be rock, but we just don't want to miss anything in case there's something that actually is more than that,"
Merritt said.

Cadaver dogs discovered the location this week amid a renewed search for Susan Powell, and investigators declared they had found human remains earlier in the day Thursday.

Police said they 🤬🤬🤬umed human remains would be found after cadaver dogs alerted on the spot.

Very tiny pieces? :(
Okay, so if I'm understanding this correctly...because the dogs independently keep hitting on this spot as containing human remains...and there are "tiny pieces" of something...LE is presuming those pieces to be possible human remains (bone). Will keep digging in case there is something more than that (larger human pieces? clothing?).
I can understand them jumping the gun a little bit. Even if I don't agree with the announcements. If it were one or two dogs, maybe not. But this many dogs on the same spot? Recently turned earth? Tiny pieces of 'something'? They know something either is there (the tiny pieces & more more beyond)...or that something was there.
Just continue rooting for them to find what they need to find..in order to identfy whomever it is or was that was discarded there. :(

PS: Is it allowable to camp in that area or spot? In other words..could someone go to that spot and set up a tent? (a tent with no floor, lets say?)
Just curious as to what kind of activity is allowable in that area. tia

I don't know this is not making sense. If you think there is a body down there dig it up. Anything in the dirt is not going anywhere and can be sifted at any time. I am not buying this show.

Well then they may be right. Allegedly they have only gone 2 feet deep. There could still be a body there.

You can camp on most BLM land.

The way things have to be documented in the soil matter when it comes to court. If it is messed up, when they do find the body, it cannot be used against their suspect.

There is a reason it is going slowly - it has to. They are also not going to announce to the public everything. It is frustrating, but I trust what they are saying. They are experienced professionals who want to ensure their investigation is carried out according to the required protocol.
