Who wants to go to the alive thread and break the bad news? I thought I had already accepted that KC was deceased and I feel like puking. Imagine how they are going to feel! I think Baez is throwing in the towel. It has come to his delayed attention that his client cannot tell the truth and her very compelling reasons were going to make him look like a moron with no evidence to back it up..I think he better start looking at other career options though.

Hmm. Let's see: it's either JB's incompetence, daring legal maneuver, verbal blunder, subconscious wish to be fired or disbarred.. ...

I'm stumped!

I think he is just getting arrogant. Remember during that one presser that he said he would not be bullied into taking a deal. He seemed to say that since they gave him a time limit to take it, he had no intentions on taking the deal. I think that all of this is going to his head.

We are not allowed on that thread with any information contrary to her being alive. :X

Contrary to popular belief, I do not think JB is stupid. This statement is "It does her no good to show her cards to give the prosecution any advantage they have to put her away for life," is an admission. Why would he say this in the press. I could understand him saying to prosecutor for plea bargain. A mistrial can happen at anytime during a trial, it does not have to be after a verdict. Is JB throwing himself under the bus, if so why (don't want to hear he loves her, because ...)? Another possibility is that he wants to be removed from the case, a judge will not automatically let this happen, JB has given a judge a reason to dismiss him, if he requests it, IMHO. It just seems on the surface like a really stupid thing to say.

I don't think he's stupid either. I think he's sleazy. I think he's doing exactly what a defense attorney should be doing. Using any tactics he can to protect and defend his client. If creating doubt can't do it, then working on a mistrial will.

You're possibly correct.

We have already discounted this sighting as it was posted first on the site which we don't mention here. Anyone or anything associated with that site is not considered credible, imo and many, many others here.

Now I am very sorry I found it and posted it here. GRRRR! Pink Panther asked and I found it without first reading it all. When I did read it...I realized it was from one of "those" sightings.

Evidently, the tip that LE did find credible is the one they just released today about the sighting near the airport.
Seriously Searching - I know that I didn't read it on the unmentionable site. It was posted elsewhere when I read it.

I'm with you 100% Gizzy!

He's not stupid AND he doesn't want to lose his law license. He (and any other attorney) would rather have a mild sanction by the State Bar Association than have his reputation destroyed by going further with this flakey family of liars. He knows he's in trouble if he continues to represent her - the whole famn damily will turn on him and that's not a pretty picture.

He's gotten a ton of publicity (and the inside scoop) and I think he did his best, but this is just not a good choice for a pro-bono case. It's like rushing forward to defend Jefferey Dahmer because you "just know that he has a good heart in there somewhere." Nope. This is a hot potato and she's probably gonna' get stuck with a public defender and MAYBE a coupla' ACLU folks. (And BTW, I LOVE our Constitution, I really do.)

Oh this is a really big development.

Please clarify--how can setting up for a mistrial occur if the trial for neglect (etc) let alone murder has not yet begun?:waitasec::confused:

Oh, No! Not your fault!! I should have read further into it before I posted is all. :) Is OK...just don't want people here to put any stock into it is all. No worries, Pink!! :blowkiss:

Why would this give a judge a reason to dismiss him? I don't understand - wouldn't he need to ask to be dismissed? I'm not asking facetiously...I really don't understand! :)

Ineffective counsel is not a reason for a mistrial. It is a reason for an appeal. And that one statement is not going to help. To answer an earlier question. No JB would not be called to the stand to explain his statement. Doing so would violate atty client priv. Although he made the statement to the media. Explaining the statement would incriminate his client.

:woohoo:
Thursday, Casey's attorney said it's not in her best interest to tell what she knows about where Caylee is.

"It does her no good to show her cards to give the prosecution any advantage they have to put her away for life," Jose Baez saidWTH.... how can CA & GA stand this crap any longer

I am _very_ surprised JB would admit that, wonder if he has heard that the forensics has confirmed the demise of Caylee?, they have remains? or, Kobi has appraised him that they are on very shaky ground? Seek deal....

If I was DA I'd play the heck out of Caylee is alive and the many sightings, etc -- unless that avenue is now officially closed!!

:woohoo:

TY, nnglass! I'm still not clear on how this Baez "boo-boo" could set up grounds for a mistrial though since nothing has started yet. Ditto for appeals.
