The only accurate report was from Tanners own mouth . But now we hear she has changed her testimony ......... what testimony .....OH sorry the quote in the papers THAT testimony

How could the PJ be so blind the evidence is all there .......she should be arressted and in bars by now for lying and deliberatlley hampering a police investigation

Tanner has made her police statement and one major interview yet we have all of the above which is frankly regutgitated tittle tattle IN MY OPINION

I dont really have the energy any more to go through all these points . You believe what you want to believe and that seems to be the thing here

I hope that this case comes to fruition soon and we can look at some accurate evidence , aggurate reporting and a court of law to determine guilt or innocent

I will say again ........please try and take what you read in blogs , online reports the tabs with a pinch of salt , just a small one , They do make things up . I promise they do

Gord, FWIW, I don't read blogs regularly. I'm just looking at the news articles, and again, if they are publishing things that Jane Tanner does not stand by, she should issue press releases to that effect. You know she would get all kinds of coverage, she could probably get articles where she discusses what she wore that night, simply because a) so many people care what happened to Maddie and b) people interested/caring translates into sales of papers or online viewing ad revenue. So again, if the news articles are not true, then Jane Tanner has the responsibility and right to make that clear--as well as very, very easy means.

She described a person in the beginning--"Bundleman" that is noticeably different from the "Creepy Man" sketch. According to reports, she now confirms that "Creepy Man" with identifiable facial features and longer hair, as well as skin tone, is what she saw that night.

If her story has changed, it's going to be questioned. Welcome to the world of being a witness at a crime scene. It's not pleasant, and I certainly don't want to have to go through it myself, ever. But Jane was there, and she saw this, and if her story changes, she'll have to explain that in some reasonable way.

Personally, I think Jane Tanner's a big girl (idiom meaning grown up for Brit posters) and she can handle it. If she believes that's what she saw, she'll have the strength of that truth.

And also, FWIW, I don't think she's changed her story deliberately, and you know I've said that before. I'm sympathetic to her. I think she's a loyal and caring friend to the McCanns who saw or thinks she saw, someone that night, and she's trying very hard to help the McCanns find their child. I think she wants so badly to help that she's susceptible to suggestions, and I think she probably gets pushed very hard to agree with the Metado line.

And also, FWIW, the Fox News here in the U.S. is very sympathetic to the McCanns.

Then don't wear yourself out. I still have plenty of energy for digging up contradictions, because that's how we get to the truth. And that goes for here, as where as anywhere in the world.

Jane Tanner did not have to speak out. The police would probably rather she stayed quiet. I imagine the McCanns wanted her to speak out and put the blame on anyone other than themselves, and that's what she did.

But I'm standing by my point that Jane said she did not see this man's face, and now she is identifying him months later by a frontal face drawing. That is unbelievable by any standard.

Either she saw him, or she didn't. She can clarify if she wants to. I'd be thrilled to read another interview with her, but I imagine she won't do another one because she's already having trouble sticking to one story.

However, I'd love to hear how she saw him, but his face had to be blank in one drawing, only now she recognizes his eyes and crooked teeth. It would be fascinating to hear her explanation, and I'm sure the cops might want to hear it also.

If Tanner were to isssue a rebuttal or a press release everytime she was misquoted in the press then she would be very busy . I also think it would be very unwise to start conducting or discussing the case with the newspapers - for one it is strictly against the PJ law on this and for another you would be opening up a complete can of worms , when you start dealiing with details like that . ..... this case has suffered enough through the massive coverage in the press .

I know she has spoken to the press ( BBC ) That was partly because she was being mis quoted so much and she wanted to set the record straight about what she saw and did .

anyway it doesnt seem to have done any good . she is still getting quoted on a daily basis. At the moment all I seem to see is the Tapas saying nothing - keeping competely quiet . The press are naturaly filling the vacum for people like us who are desperate for news .

Talking about blogs , I am sure many of you read Martin Brunt who is the sky crime guy ... he has spent a lot of time in portugal and is about as close to the case as many - below is what he said about the case in November and the difficulty in actualy sorting out what we think as fact and what isnt .....

More likely they're here to get a grip on the British forensics procedures, rather than a grip on their suspects.

Madeleine: Police track down suspect from sketch after international manhunt

The man in the new image released by Kate and Gerry McCann as a possible suspect in Madeleine's disappearance has been found and ruled out of the case.

The man was discovered living in the Algarve but police say he is not connected to the case.

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha said the man was found in the village of Barão de São João, 10 miles inland from Praia da Luz.

This week Portuguese police accused the McCanns — official suspects in their daughter's disappearance — of distracting attention away from them, with one source calling it “another diversionary manoeuvre”.

Photofit: Police dismisses any connection to the case
PJ has already spoken to suspect

The "terrifying" man that Gail Cooper described as a suspect, originating the photofit that was released by the McCanns this week, was contacted by the Policia Judiciaria twenty days after the disappearance of Madeleine. After the image was published, the Judiciaria spoke to him again, and at the moment dismisses any connection [of this man] to the case.

A source that is connected to the process has confirmed to Correio da Manha that "at the time, a person that had been pointed out as a suspect by a tourist that had been in Luz, was contacted. He was cleared of any suspicion at that time".

Fox news just reported on the sketch. (I haven't heard much on Fox lately about Madeleine). They said the McCanns say the pig farmer is not the same guy as in the drawing. (Wow, didn't see that coming....NOT!)

The McCanns didn't see the guy, how do they know he's not the same person?
