"Circumstances of Recovery- Decedent was found in a wooded area near North Dixie Freeway in New Smyrna Beach, FL by an archeologist assessing damage from the recent hurricanes. The area was submerged during hurricane Ian. The archeologist on scene, estimated the decedents (sic) remains had been in this location for 3-6 years. Near the decedent was a blanket and black sweat pants."

Condition of Remains- Not recognizable - Partial skeletal parts only

Officers said they responded around 9 a.m. to a wooded area in the 1700 block of North Dixie Freeway after an archeologist working for the city of New Smyrna Beach uncovered a bone at a documented historical site where they believe there could be traces of Native American ruins.
