i think it was constructive criticism to make the site better iirc... but as i said, nothing's changed so they are not seemingly even bothering to update/change as suggested :(

This was the comment I meant. I assume my interpretation of "sending a note" is utilizing the tips tab is a correct interpretation.

The site registrant also owns 170-ish other websites, updating this new site may not be a priority. I would give it a week or so to see if anything changes.

except you'd think the site about a missing baby would take precedence over much else... if they spent even ONE HOUR on it, it could be SO much better imo.

Again I don't think the parents themselves are updating that site, but someone else with their input. It may not be a high priority, especially if it's someone they hired.

i don't believe i ever stated it was the parents who update -- i said "they" as in whoever is responsible for the website

whoever was "hired" did a crappy job. deb and jeremy (or whoever did the hiring) need to get their money back imo.

I do believe someone upthread said they sent them a suggestion a few days ago. They may not post any comments at all.

Text comes up right after you post your comment - "Your message is waiting for moderation", or something along those lines. So, that is what brought me to the conclusion that so far, they haven't liked the messages sent.

Given the sense of urgency displayed by the Bradley/Irwin camp thus far, expecting any significant change to happen quickly is probably a lesson in futility.

I expect any posts there will always be pending moderation, not sure if it's to protect their sources of "useful information" submitted, to prevent the site being overrun with opinions they don't want to hear and don't want supporters to read, or some other reason entirely.

That makes sense.

could it mean your message hasn't even been looked at yet? if it *had* been read and wasn't "liked", wouldn't your message just be deleted? b/c if it had been read, the message about "moderation" wouldn't be there anymore, right? (b/c doesn't " waiting for moderation" imply "a decision has yet to be made"?)

(any website owners with comment sections here?)

and if it hasn't even been read yet, what if there were "tips" about a sighting? or info about a suspect? seems an odd way to show concern about a "missing" child and it borders on "farce" to me.

Tips about a sighting or info about a suspect should go to the crimestoppers link.

and we've had this discussion... it's very possible people see the word "tips" and will use that link to submit. many here took it to mean just that. as has been proved, not everyone "reads" things the same way and airing on the side of caution, you'd THINK those comments and tips would be read asap to see if there's anything important there !!

You can't know that they weren't read.

I sent a suggestion that they put the crimestoppers link on the homepage.

That being said though, there is a button that says 'what can you do'. Clicking that button shows the crimestoppers link. If you go to helpful links, the crimestoppers link is there.

When you click the comments and tips button, it says 'we welcome your encouragement and prayers and any information you feel would be useful'.

So if I have a tip about the case, I go to the website and I see both pages, I'm going to go to the crimestoppers link, because it's under 'what can you do'.

I would hope people who really had information about the case, such as a sighting, the findlisairwin site wouldn't be the first place they go where they would leave such information. I would hope this would be the first place:

http://www.kcmo.org/police

or this

http://www.kccrimestoppers.com/

I'm going to have a little more faith in the general public that they'll know where to go with such information.

Agree. If I had a "tip" to report I would use the link that they have supplied.

If I wanted to send them a message about how to build the site or make it better I would use the "comment" link.

We all know that this page was not built by a web designer however I do not think it's as bad as many are making it out to be. I was able to navigate it fine.

With the comment section I do not think they are receiving your comments. I think instead of them having it sent to an e-mail address it is being stored within the root of the website...if this is what's happening they will not receive notification that they have messages. Many web builders and even Frontpage do this....

BBM

The guy that owns this page also owns another very successful page. He also own 100+ other domains. I think he knows a thing or two about web design.

What do you think of his very successful web page? Do you like its design?

Why?

At the very top of that other webpage it says:

"60 million hits per month
50,000 visits every day!"

I think he knows what he is doing. ;)

The fact that Lisa's page is grossly inadequate, but was created by someone that obviously is extremely aware, speaks volumes. He doesn't need my opinion. .. he's got counters and trackers that give him feed back. He's not new to this game. . .he could write a book.
