No, the parents CLAIM she was kidnapped. We do not know what they actually believe. No amount of bullying is going to change public perception, in reality. :jail:

So the parents should allow themselves to be bullied on the page they run but to censor the public's nasty comments towards them is reprehensible and bullying behavior on their part??

I don't follow this logic.

quite frankly, as a parent, if I was running a social media site regarding my missing child, I would censor the h e double toothpicks out of the comments if they were the accusatory blaming or name calling variety.

Posters who choose that site to vent their anger at the parents should fully expect to be censored.

There are certainly plenty of other sites on the internet where people are free to speak their minds. a missing child's FB page or site run by that child's parents is not the appropriate venue.

MOO IMO All that Jazz

Jazz hands

They do not run the social media sites we are talking about, the local news stations do. However, the parents have a team of friends who mass-report all the comments they don't agree with, with literally dozens & dozens of fake profiles by just a handful of people. They prowl all of the sites 24/7 (this one included), & watch everything that is said online. It's all about public perception, & shutting down any talk that isn't favorable to the parents. I personally have been attacked by these people, and my special needs child made fun of, just to try to scare me off. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

I was referring to the discussion taking place here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8563518&postcount=588"]Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - New website for Lisa[/ame]

about parents taking over this FB page and censoring comments.

As to media sites comment sections.

I don't engage in the commenting back and forth on the comments sections of media sites so I cannot speak to this tactic you are describing but I wonder how you can state with surety that the parents and their friends are doing what you describe above. I don't think such an allegation can really be proven, unless you are inside the parents lives, friendships and this team you describe.

Glad to not be jumping into such frays as IMO they are nonsense and not the actions of grownups.

And in saying that - I refer to people on BOTH sides of the fence in regards to this case who decide that name calling and jumping into the mud to sling it about is acceptable behavior.

It is no different than what we do here, giving our opinions, talking about possibilities. The difference here is that people are not attacked and reported, lose their posting ability, etc, merely for voicing opinions and having conversations. I can understand that if you have not seen it firsthand, it would be very hard to accept or understand. I HAVE seen it firsthand, and still don't believe it. Have never experienced anything so bizarre in my lifetime.

On an anonymous website/forum, how would people know who you are or that you have a special needs child? I'm not understanding that logic. Are you saying there are hackers who got into your personal information?

I am sorry your SNC was dragged into it. I saw some pretty bad behavior on the Ayla Reynolds case (not here but on social sites and media comments) it is part of why I choose not to embark on joining into those types of conversations.

No matter that our opinions may differ on this case, I am thankful that here, on WS, we can disagree civilly and respectfully.

Facebook is not anonymous. If one "likes" a website, say for breast cancer,& someone who is on your friend list comments on a post about it, their friends can see it as well, that's how they discover personal info. The group would use all kinds of personal info such as posting addresses, Google maps, a person's police record with tickets, infractions from teen years, sick relatives, ANYTHING & everything personal they can dig up, & post them to try to scare people into shutting up. The fact is, if you have an opinion on the case, you are not allowed to speak it on social media, because of the sick little team of bullies, & yes, several people HAVE had their accounts hacked. I am not concerned if it sounds crazy, because it IS crazy.
I think I am way off topic, however, and I apologize.

Thanks, I've not been on that site, sounds scary.

I've seen many posters during the the lead up to the CA trial that posted anonomously on FaceBook

I have seen many people say that, that several people follow many similar cases. Personally I have NEVER followed any sort of case, & this will be my last. The only reason I started following this one was because I live near & after seeing the crazy, insane way people were viciously attacked & dog-piled on for speaking their mind about the case on social media, I knew SOMETHING was off.

I agree, I also saw people who would harass people who had different view, not so much about KC's guilt, but, on what some of the evidence meant. And like you, I saw a lady viciously (verbally) attacked and to quote one immature poster who put up a photo of a lady and her child and wrote "No wonder your kid is retarded". That was the last straw for me, and I left that site vowing never to follow anything on FB regarding a case on FB but the news feeds, if that.
The behavior of many on FB is atrocious at best, and I've seen it on both sides of the proverbial fence. :(

Sounds like the same crazy ones, one of which is now close personal friends w/ DB ( I have seen pics of her at the 1 year vigil).

Iwouldn't know about that, I have no clue who it was since they used an anonomous name when they were posting and no personal pics. no matter which side of the fence they are on, that kind of behavior is uncalled for, especially dragging another innocent child into the fray while claiming to be concerned about the child the case is about. :furious:

I agree. Even more disturbing that these are the kinds of people that Lisa's parents & family have befriended/ teamed up with. Birds of a feather, I suppose.

I'm not agreeing nor disagreeing as to who her friends are and what they do on FB. I've yet to see any proof of it, and really, these FB sites turn into nothing but a place for Drama Queens (and yes kings) to gather and make idiots of themselves. I will agree 100% that the actions of some people on those types of FB pages makes me wonder how their parents raised them, or if they were raised by apes. :floorlaugh:

Is it common practice in missing child cases for the family to solicit donations? Was looking over old stuff & noticed that there is now(may have been there for a while) a separate page on the family's website for donations, I knew there was a link and a news story a while back...having a tough time with the search function here for some reason, sorry if there may be a separate thread for this, but I couldn't find it. :banghead:
