I think it depends on how she used them. She didn't meet this guy on either forum, so I think it's about as relevant as whether she'd read or seen 60 Shades of Gray.
It's been pointed out before me, but "choking" is something that happens inside your throat, like swallowing a bone. 'Strangulation' is the word for when something grips you from outside your neck.
Using the benign word, IMO, is part of the whole process of trying to make it cool and edgy.
Kind of like how doing smack (heroin) is considered cool and edgy by some people.

I'm bothered by Grace being a member of that BDSM-type Tinder app. I really hope they have the forensics on it to determine when 'her' profile was created.

... So why is this un-named friend claiming she was into this sort of thing? Who is more believable - the close friend whom she was texting that night (as quoted above), or some random person who doesn't want their name to be disclosed?
Is the random person to be believed - hopefully they've sufficiently verified that person - or did they get the idea from this earlier article?

Absolutely. Not sure what's wrong with the NZ media - whether they're too scared to report something they shouldn't, or are just lazy. One TV news channel in particular leaves a lot of information out.
They are following New Zealand law and customs around protecting privacy of individuals. The DM doesn't give a dmn about anyone's privacy.
